Do you think that anything we say from now to release...

Do you think that anything we say from now to release will effect the game at all? I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a forum, but i honestly don't think any of us have any control on what the final copy will include. Your thoughts?

Perhaps only some fairly minor stuff but otherwise no.

I'm sure we may be able to affect the game in small ways. Maybe they're still brainstorming for ideas pertaining to M'aiq's dialogue. :P

It depends on what the community has to say. Anything Bethesda has shown is obviously final, but there is still a lot about the game we don't know, and that could potentially change.

They could always stick it for the expansion at least. That's what I think happened with SI's case anyway.

Look I know it may feel like your flying through dark space shouting into the vacuum with your suggestions. But, I have been suggesting things for about 4 years now for Bethesda. I can tell you that EVERYTHING gets read and is talked about. I suggested the hardcoe switch about 2 years ago I think it was. It was before new Vegas was even announced and a little bit after everyone beat fallout 3. I suggested it as a DLC but eventually said it should be in a future game and one of the developers came in and told me it was in. Do you remember thermite from new Vegas? I suggested they add it in and build a quest around it they made it a main quest. There are many more examples of suggestions I noticed went in. I am sure there were plenty of people who had done them. They look at google, yahoo, fan sites, this forum, twitter, facebook, myspace I think, and actual critics to try and improve the game. Our opinion as players carry great weight and if you plan your suggestions right it could end up at the top of there priority list.

I don't think it's as black and white as yes or no. The game is probably all planned out by this point but I doubt they ignore all feedback.

yes, I'm sure Todd Howard reads every single poll and changes the game every night based on who voted for the most things to be like Morrowind.

There has been at least 10 threads on this. In fact, the earliest one I can remember was made by me. And the answer is no. And please search.

God no.

The game is way too close to release for Beth to make any major changes, even if they wanted to (which I highly doubt).

Besides, I sincerely doubt they'd listen regardless. Most suggestions on the forum are just generic "make it a clone of Morrowind" bull.
I know I wouldn't listen. I'd make the game I wanted to make.

There is less than 10 months until release. I am of the belief that things are set in stone for this one but I do believe we could have a bit of influence on what might be added in DLCs.

In one of the interviews from GI Todd Howard said he and the team were reading the forums and saw that the fan base was bigger then they thought so I assume they take ideas from the forum

Well, until they release more info or the game itself it's hard to tell if they listened to a lot of the stuff that was said 2 weeks after Oblivion shipped. They supposedly rehauled the scaling system, but we'll see if they include alternative forms of fast travel (in addition to the confirmed, open map and click fast travel) spears, crossbows, werewolves, climbing, levitating, etc etc etc...

So short answer...no.

Agreed. Most of the time they have left with the game before release will most likely be spent polishing and debugging. And maybe putting together the different editions.

Core mechanics, such as the combat and magic systems, cannot be changed without redesigning and reworking the whole game. Those things can't be influenced. Storytelling details, however, such as quests, Radiant Story parameters, Radiant AI quircks, as well as the final game balance (by adjusting some hidden constants and redesigning some dungeons and areas), can. That IS influenced to some degree by what we say. Don't ask me to speculate what that degree is, though.

Not really, no. Especially as most of the threads are about pretty big features that would take a lot of work to implement if they weren't already in. But it's still fun to chew them over and speculate.

I'd love to see a few things but I doubt it. Its nearly about 4 years that TES V is being developed now and I guess it is mostly complete so that Bethesda won't be able to add much more in the time that is left. Maybe there are features in Skyrim that are discussed here and maybe not and maybe just partly.

They've been working on this game for nearly five years now. It releases in a little over nine months. It's a bit late in the game (no pun intended) for a world of the magnitude of an Elder Scrolls to undergo any major changes, I would think. As others have said, perhaps some minor aesthetic or book text alternations, etc. But by now they should probably rightly be in the bug testing and polishing phase. (At least I hope so. I'd like this to be the most stable Elder Scrolls game to date when it releases.)
