Do you think the Falmer (snow elves) will appear in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 6:01 am

This is a really interesting article about them. It lists the four current theories about what happened to them.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Falmer

1. The Skaal think the Rieklings are descendents of the Falmer.
2. An Altmer at Raven Rock thinks the Riecklings are merely snow goblins and the Falmer interbreeded with other races until their pure form was extinct.
3. Some think the Nords commited an act of genocide on the Falmer, since the Falmer are said to be the original inhabitants of Skyrim.
4. Others think they still survive in isolated areas of Skyrim (possibly the Ice Warriors shown in Shadowkey).

Do you think we'll find out what really happened to them in Skyrim?

Doesn't this quest kinda prove their existence though?

Maybe as an Easter Egg, but nothing more and nothing less.

I really, REALLY hope they don't show up in the game. That would just cheapen the legend. I do hope (and expect) that we'll at least learn some more about them.

This is probably the last, best and most probable place for them to show up. I wouldn't be surpriesed if their were at least some small clutch of them, or at least some ruin of theirs in the distant reaches of Skyrim.

I'd say that they'll definitely appear in one form or another, seeing how big of a role they have played in Skyrim, and because... it's cool.
And when I say above, I don't mean that they'll physically appear alive. I seriously doubt that. We might see them dead though, and we might see their ruins.

Same here. Maybe a ruin or two, in the middle of nowhere, untouched for almost 4000 years. The Falmer have no record of even really existing, save for a skeleton or two, nord oral tradition, and them being the boogeyman. If there is any evidence of their existence, it should be obscure and out of the way. They shouldn't be the dwemer and Aleyids of Skyrim, as their entire everything has pretty much been destroyed by the nord's bloodlust of the first era.

My guess would be that there will be artifacts, items, ruins, books etc

But as for actual living breathing Falmer, I don't think so

Exactly why they shouldn't show themselves. Mystery is a good thing. I loved that about the Dwemer, and the Falmer seem the same, but significantly more. I loved the fact that there were only vague references, and the best piece of "evidence" was a set of ancient armour.

I think it would stand to reason if there were a few rare, out of the way Falmer ruins, and if some of the Nordic and Dwemer ruins were built over other Falmer ruins. The Falmer, not the Dwemer, were native to Skyrim, after all,.

As to living or no.. . . it is hard to say. Even now in the Amazon there are lost tribes that have been found, cut off from all other civilization.

With their skill in magic and ancient knowledge of the land, it would stand to reason that some Falmer could have survived in isolated communities, fleeing to the hinterlands of Skyrim rather than fight a losing battle against an overwhelming tide.

And, if you are truly a great explorerer, you may just find them in some WAY out of the way place far in the northernmost mountains of Skyrim. Who knows?

I'm thinking more it was more like this: "Omg Morrowind fans hates Oblivion, what shall we do in Skyrim to appeal to them? Wait we put Dwemer in the game they all loved the Dwemer ruins!" "But what about the Falmer? Will there be room for both?" "[censored] the Falmer Morrowind fans wants Dwemer!"

But I do hope you are right! Would love to see some ruins in some far away remote location.

I hope they take an approach that is more comprehensive and less fickle and one track minded. But. . . we shall see, right?

So what?
Each region may have their own mythical elf.
Sasquatch, Yeti? Very similar creature, different part of the world.

I think it would be amazing to have both mentions and ruins of the Dwemer and the Falmer in the same game.

Mysteries have no power if there's no chance of them being revealed.

Velorien once told me that Falmer will "never" make an appearance ever. She knows her stuff and that's what i'm going with.

i don't think we will see them in skyrim but maybe in an expansion if the location is atmora

Atmora is a land above Skyrim that is full of snow and ice and i think the Falmer(Snow elves) have moved to somewhere else maybe to Atmora or Summerset(Home of Elves)
