[Poll] Do you think the first DLC will be exciting?

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 4:30 am

To clarify, do you think the DLC will be something that will impress you and be exciting to jump into or will it be safer and more basic? I'm of the mind that the first DLC for Fallout 4 will be somewhat underwhelming, given what Fallout's DLCs have been like in the past. I am very excited to see what is coming for FO4 in 2016, but I know that when I think back to FO3, with the exception of Mothership Zeta, I found the DLC to be underwhelming. Now, in the case of Skyrim, Dawnguard was the first DLC to launch and it included one of my favorite NPCs of all time and had a questline that I thought was awesome, if not a little predictable. Granted, I know more about the lore of Elder Scrolls than I do Fallout, but I find that the ES DLC has stood out more to me than the FO DLC. I am anxious to see if I'm proven wrong, but I have this hunch that the next DLC is going to be kind of meh.

Now, if they would make a Bioschock-esque DLC that had us find or make a new aquatic based suit of power armor to explore an underwater lab/civilization and ultimately decide the fate of the place (that might be overrun with new mutated enemy types or what-have-you) then I would be very excited. VERY EXCITED. Hint, hint Bethesda :P

No. So far I haven't seen FO4 do anything to make me go "oh wow!" as everything has been done better in games I've already got (price+DLC is still in their favour) so I don't have high hopes, Skyrims DLC also didn't make me go wow. So if they can do something great I will be shocked but patching has been lackluster...

I have no expectations on the DLC and will let the DLC be judged on its own. I usually do not play the DLC's of Bethesda's games since the core game has more than enough content for me, I even do not finish the main quests in them since I get side tracked right from the beginning. The only Bethesda game I finished the main story on was Fallout 3 since that story had me right from the beginning. I still love the DLC's since for quite a few of the mods on PC's are depended on one or more of the DLC's

I am still wondering who this Shaun person is. :sadvaultboy:

I have a feeling that at least one DLC will have quite a bit of settlement building options especially if it is in a new area of the Fallout World. I think one of them might have some more locations or things to do underwater and possibly some add-ons to the Battle Armor for underwater use.

The only DLC that got me excited in Skyrim was Hearthfire and in Fallout 3 was Point Lookout. :P

So I don't know, it's possible that it will, but at the same time it's possible that it won't. I'm taking a wait and see approach. :)

I think the DLC would have to be of a considerable size in order for me to get excited about it. I'm sure the first DLC is probably still about a month and half away (given the timing of past DLC's) and most people will be using their characters who have seen and done it all, so there really won't be any other reason to play besides trying out the DLC.

A dragonborn / dawnguard or even point lookout sized DLC would be enough for me to return to Fallout 4 in Februray - March, I'd say.

EDIT: I totally forgot about the creation kit! If that comes before the DLC, it also might add some much needed sustainability in the form of mod support for the community.

Morrowind - Tribunal and Bloodmoon = Awesome!

Oblivion - Shivering Isle, Knights of the Nine = Awesome!

Fallout 3 - The Pitt, Point Lookout, Broken Steel = Awesome! - Mothership Zeta, Operation Anchorage = decent.

Skyrim - Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn = Awesome!

My poor attempt at saying i think it will be awesome. Bethesda makes some really good DLC, in my opinion, and i don't think Fallout 4 will fail at this.

If it's anything like what we've received from the larger DLC of the Elder Scrolls games, it will surely be a reason for me to be excited. Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Shivering Isles, Dragonborn, all were fantastic.

If it's anything like Fallout 3, I will probably be more so skeptical and cautious of it. I consider most of Fallout 3's DLC to be rather awful, with the exception of the Pitt and Point Lookout. And even then did those suffer from their own shortcomings.

Bethesda does mostly(zeta mixed-bag) great add-ons.

I have no reason to expect anything otherwise.

First DLC must be better than Anchorage and Zeta and absolutely nothing like them

But Anchorage was low effort with good results and Zeta was high effort(notice all of the new visual assets) with low results (story, lore, WTF).

Well I preordered WITH the season pass, so I have my hopes up! Kinda on the fence, but I chose Yes cause I do think it will do exciting things if they approach it like Broken Steel.

Bethesda has never released and underwhelming DLC and if you don't like their DLC from the past don't buy the season pass and wait to see what comes out.

Agreed. Why wouldn't it be exciting based on track record?

I have to wonder what, if anything, that does to their incentive.

Still waiting on a good patch at the moment. I don't even like talking about a DLC until they fix what they're already released. Hell a tutorial on how Settlements work would even be more welcomed than a DLC right now.

I am waiting, if it turns into another hearth-fire, I will just wait until its 75% off. If it actually looks decent I will probably buy the season pass.

How would I know? Not even a hint about what the DLC will be.

I used to expect much for other game based on their prequel's DLC and bought the season pass, turned out all the season pass to be bunch of garbage.

I'm not terribly optimistic. For some reason, the very existence of the season pass has lowered my expectations, as has the fact that Skyrim only got the two story DLC before they rather suddenly announced they were moving on when everyone was expecting another one.

I'm sure I'll end up getting them ... the best mods will require all of them before it's all said and done ... and I hope they are great. Guess I'm just a glass half empty sort of guy.

Dont say that... :( This is my first ever season pass. Im kinda new Pre-ordering as well (FO4 being second to MGS5) so, as much as people hate it, I guess I've been lucky with my choices :P

Ouch, I have been hit with some doozys. Anyhow you should be fine. I just don't like forking over money for a product they haven't even given an outline for. I pre-ordered xcom-2 with its season pass, because I had a decent idea of what I was getting. With beth, they have a fairly good track record. Minus the horse armor and hearthfire dlc.

To be fair, (or at least honest), the reason there were only 3 dlcs for Skyrim is because of how badly screwed up the dlc ports for PS3 were. A failure on both Sony and Bethesda's part. They spent nearly a year to get the dlcs to work on PS3, forcing them to give up on any future Skyrim dlcs.

I hope the DLC will be great :)

The main quests is just like in Skyrim to set the ground rules for the environment you want to play in. DLC will be the first huge adventure in your world... (Love Dawnguard!!!11).
