do you think the items on your load out will be visable on y

Post » Tue Nov 23, 2010 3:42 am

I was looking at the concept art for skyrim today( the pic with the bear eating the mammoth corpse) and he had several items on his person. the staff in the left hand, sword in the right, along with a shield on his back, and a ax on his right hip, so i was thinking if this is how the new load out system will work.
what do you guys/ gals think?

Yeah possibly, although you won't see every weapon on your guy, just the items that're equipped.

well i remember in the GI issue when the bandits descend on you, the hero pulls a well worn shield from his back.

i think this would make sense.

I would love to see something like this. It always irritated me in Oblivion that when I put my bow away and pulled out a dagger, my bow just disappeared (leaving a useless quiver of arrows). I'd like it to stay on my back.

I would think just stuff in the actual equipment slots. Hotkeys can be so many different things, that'd be kind of hard to deal with.

(Heh. Can you picture someone who has three different elemental-enchanted bows, and five different two-handed weapons, in their 8 hotkey slots? With all that stuff showing? :D )

Problem is there are no hotkeys for consoles, only an infinitely large favourites menu.

Maybe a system where it would allow you to add items to your atire, that are not necessarily equiped. So for example you get the usual slots for your armour/clothing with additional 'decorative' slots for items. So you could add say a shield or a mace on your back, a couple of weapons to your waste etc...

No true dude... you get 8 hot keys with the consoles (8 'D' pad directions)

I bet Bethesda will continue to hide our pack rat nature...

Armors of fur/leather/combos thereof probably have little tidbits of flare hanging about, but I doubt we'll be seeing a "utility belt" of stuff hanging off our Elven armor.

I was actually thinking of something ever so similar, only deference being that by equipped I would mean hotkeyed (as far as weapons go at least).
As always, we'd be able to hot-key few of our weapons/staff things of such nature. The number of slots could be depending on the kind of armor/clothing we're wearing, and possibly be increased by buying extra pouches, straps and such and then "upgrade" our current outfit with them in a similar manner to NV upgrading (only that those attachments would be perfectly removable). The trick (also being a slight gameplay... Restriction) would be that once enemies appear nearby (or in andy state of -DANGER- just like with resting in previous TES and Fallouts) , we could only reach for the "equipped" sword, axe, staff, knife and so. Note that that would not apply to potions, and spells. This way game could not only for player to think, and plan ahead ( like in case of breaking into nobleman's house, assassination attempts and so on), but also get rid of "It would look silly if the game would try to show 'everything' you got there" problem. Also the ability to bear certain arms could be modified for a special kind of weapons for some characters, dependent on their perks/skills. It's highly likely that a master thief can hide a couple daggers or knifes (small sharpies) more that the average mortal.

It would be nice if they would, yeah. If you had a dagger equipped with your other hotkeyed weapons, it would be somewhere easy to access, like on the chest or bicep opposite of your fighting hand or lower back. Lower than that (boots), I don't know.

Or something.

Im absolutely sure that the weapons that are visible on us will not be the only weapons we carry. Games such as this require the player to carry quest items after all. And by limiting the player to one quest at a time, your limiting the diverse experience that the gamer would get if he had inventory space. You instantly have a linear gaming perspective in an obviously non-linear game. Im sure that, for visual realism, equipped weapons will be visible on the character, while items that you store away will remain unseen in your much larger inventory space.

well they did say there would be a quick swap feature for each hand and if it was only you curent weapon/spell and then another weapon/spell to quick swap to i could see it very possible to have it where weapons would show up.

its unlikely, its just going to be the same thing as Oblivion and Morrowind.

It would be cool if they had that though.
