But on your next play through of Morrowind, you can be happy.

I don't think the staves were ever practical in combat, but they were great for roleplaying.
How can I have a monk who doesn't carry a staff as a walking stick, think he can fight, but end up running away because he was too busy with his skooma addiction to go to training?
That sounds like an interesting role... :lightbulb:

Well look at this http://www.gamespot.com/special_feature/skyrim-breakdown/image-feature/index.html?image=10. This is a wand, not a staff. Judging by the guys fist, it's only 3 or 4 of his fists long. Look at his palm. It tappered down, to like a spike so the wand ends where his palm is. He is holding it at the end, not in the middle. This is like how Harry Potter would hold his wand. I would say it is only one or two feet long.

It is definently not a staff. I never thought a wand would look so cool though.

Well they said that spears won't be in the game the traditional sense, so we can assume that there are going to be polearms in the game but they won't get their own category.

I can imagine quarterstaves as a far-reaching club weapon.

a staff would probably increse the amount of damage done by the spell

Probably, but it would almost definately mean that the magic doesn't use up majicka

I think he is indeed referring to melee combat involving a staff, not the magic sticks of lore. I would love to see the return of staves, but I doubt we will see them if spears aren't even in the game. If spears/halberds/glaives/melee staves are added to the game under their own skill I will be the happiest man in the world.
