Do you think the CS will be improved?

Post » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:03 am

I never used the CS in Morrowind so I don't know how much or if the CS for Oblivion improved over Morrowinds CS.

Do you think it will be improved for Skyrim? Has anyone said anything about improving it?

So many things were hardcoded into the game and things like OBSE etc were needed to add extra functionality.

It better improve. I prefer Morrowind's CS over Oblivion's, simply because Morrowind's seems much simpler. Skyrim's CS will probably be an upgraded version of the GECK, which is an upgraded version of the Oblivion CS.

Improved, I don't know. It'll almost certainly be different for Skyrim though, since we're dealing with a new engine.

I hope we can add and create new skills. (haha, god I can't even count how many times I've already said that same suggestion on here)

The only major improvement for the Construction Set that I can think of would be a help file that came with it, rather than having to look online all the time. And a more thorough one at that.

Help systems these days ARE online. That way they can be updated without everyone needing to download new files.

Depending on how "new" the engine is, we're either looking at a heavily modified GECK or something brand new IMO.

I hope item ID's are handled more like TESIII's CS, where the ID had a NAME that made SENSE, instead of a randomized number. I think the weakest aspect of the TESIII CS is dialog - the CS is so picky about how it needs to be organized!

Haven't used the TESIV CS extensively, just a few peeks. Don't own FO3, so I don't know what GECK is like.

I'm hoping the New Engine / CS will allow us dungeon / level designers to do more to levels... I want to change floor textures and rip up the floors and reshape pillars and punch holes in walls wherever I want and make the floors sloped and rip out parts I don't like and do things that aren't so restricted....

I've never taken the time to learn how the CS works, but I'm sure that it will be improved.

Who updates the current Oblivion CS website? http://cs.elderscrolls.com/ Would be nice if the helps system was so detailed that it described what every check box does.

I'm hoping they will completely ditch the CS and create a whole new "game-creator-tool", capable of much more and easier for THEM to handle, so that they could make a lot more faster and better.

For the moment I'm just really hoping that they will release a CS as capable as the ones we're used to.

Yeah.

Also: it really bugged at first me that there were different ref ID's for the items aside the item ID when they were placed in the world. That made things much more confusing.
