Do you think Umbra will be in Skyrim?

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 2:40 pm

I hope to all that epic that the mighty sword Umbra (and the warrior you have to beat to get it) is in Skyrim. It's sort of a tradition now so I shouldn't have anything to worry about, but in Oblivion there was an option to give the sword to one of the Daedra. Although things have made there way form Oblivion to the mortal world before too, so I also probably don't have worry about that one either. What are your thoughts?

Its in the lore so I don't see why not, and remember it doesn't stay with one for too long (about the same time it takes to play the game)

It's possible. It's important in Infernal City, so I think we'll have to read the second part of the book before we'll be able to know how likely it is to return.

I definitely think Umbra should return. TES without Umbra is like Soul Calibur (game) without Soul Edge.

I can not see why Umbra couldn't return, the only question is where you get it, does Clavicus Vile have it or a warrior who's soul was not enough to handle the sword? The latter would be simple, the former may instead have an interesting storyline of how Clavicus Vile ruined his Realm and now wants rid of it... or something like that.

In the book it did say that Umbra was taken from Morrowind to Solstheim.... Maybe we will see it.

Umbra actually pays an important role in the book. It looks like it may pay an even more important role in the second book.

Any speculation we have is irrelevant until we discover what happens in the book.

That said, I'm sure, even if it's not, you could enchant a claymore with a Grand soul and Soul Trapping, and name it Umbra.

THATS HERESY! Just joking. It would be better to have the real though.

Well when you give no indication of sarcasm or anything of the sort, one can only assume you are being serious.

And would it kill you to use the space bar after punctuation? I mean, I'm no grammar nazi, but effort is key.

Umbra, IS Soul edge, or atleast a piece of it <3 back in 2007 I wanted to make a mod regarding Soul edge and Soul calibur, over the years I gathered various resources to get that done. just never got around ti putting all together :(

and Umbra is an entity, not the sword Umbra can be independant of the blade itself :P

Umbra is a person (sorta) and a sword. The soul trapped in the sword to enchant it was the first Umbra, and it seems he can possess the sword's user. However in the book, Umbra is separated from it, and apparently can be re-sealed inside it under the right circumstances. So at this particular moment it is just a very sharp, stylish looking black sword. But by the time the events of Skyrim take place it may well be a soul-drinking sentient weapon again.

Would be awesome if you found that Umbra was destroyed, and you would fix it but then you could remove of the ''Evil'' in the sword or you could keep the awesome evilness soul trapping in there :D Thats definetely what i would have done.

Umbra is in my top favorite game swords. It is up there with Frostmorn from the old Warcraft Reign of Chaos and Frozen throne (when the sword was actually cool).

10 Slavering Zombies voted no.

I say that I think it should, but there should be a reasonable explanation as to how it gotten to Skyrim in the first place. Otherwise I'd be like "Oh my gawd, this sword is stalking me! Someone saaave me" :bolt:

The question says if I *think* that Umbra will return. I don't know much at all about how Umbra travels from one man to another to vote Yes. If the Poll asked if I'd want it to return, I'd say yes.
