[Poll] Do you think it's ok to use the console for RP purpos

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 7:42 am

I started a mage character and I thought to myself, For a mage, this guy can't cast a lot of spells before he runs out of magic. You would expect perhaps once you rise high in the ranks of the Mages Guild, you would have a high amount of magicka, but nope. Im not saying use the console for infinite or an abnormally high amount of magicka, but use it to make it more of what would be realistic in your mind.

So, using the console for RPing, yes or no?

I wouldn′t do it. For some using the console might be a good idea but it′s not for me

What race is your character? Certain races have more of a magika pool than others. As levels, intelligence, and wisdom rise, mages only get better and better, to the point that they can become uber-Gods if you want them to.

Personally, I would have an issue using the console to boost magika, because I rather enjoyed starting off with a mage who was weak and worthless, but it's your game. The word "roleplay" has a lot to do with imagination, so you can imagine this uber-character who's better than everyone else early on if you want.

*when you level up your spellcasting ability by using spells from thatcall, their cost drops down fast!
I'd say you better just level a couple of levels and than use the console to edit the settings as iff you leveled perfectly.

Yes, I think it's acceptable in this case, as long as you can control yourself and don't abuse it.

If you think a low magicka is going to hinder how you play your character it's perfectly acceptable in my opinion.

I used the scroll trick to get more skooma to sell on a character who was a skooma dealer, since it would be impossible to buy and sell it to make money, and I don't feel bad about that.

Kind of, I see it as this Breton is around 35, he should be in his "prime".

Acceptable console use imho would be

*0000000F 5000 (a loan in gold, you use to buy the most basic house, to storeage your crap, keep in mind you'll pay it back later)
*adding atribute points after level up, if you messed up your training, to make them +5 as they should.
*0000000A 10 (adding some lockpicks when you run out of them, as long as you don't have open lock spells)
*adding some skill points you could get normally too.

(for example you could stand in the streets of imperial city cast heal self 100000 times, wasting 2 days of your life... to get 20 level upgrades, or, you just console-add 20 to the skill you wanted to practice, and sleep in a couple of days, saving youself the dull work)

*easing some other dull jobs, like when theres to many freaking townguards so you cant sneak in... or get a quest done... use console to kill him, be sure to resurrect him with console later... and take none of his items.
*removing minor crimegold in case you are caught, nothing more anoying than losing all your items in your inventory for a 25 gold offence.

and if you REALLY must :
*loaning some more gold to buy a basic set of spells to enjoy your char.

I didn't even read your justification. Console is always fine for RP. It's your game, do as you wish.
