Do you think we will be able to mount dragons at some point?

Post » Thu Apr 29, 2010 9:47 am

No, thank Sithis. It's already confirmed, NO DRAGON MOUNTS!

this. I am very glad that we aren't going to be able to ride or mount dragons. I would feel like I am in an Eragon/Dragon Riders of Pern story.

The Empire used to have dragon riders. I wonder if we'll find out what happened to those dragons, if they all flipped sides or were killed off by the other dragons or something.

obsessions with mounting dragons, it would ruin the game for me tbh it's very over the top.

This, it seems more gimmicky than fun.

There's no reason to be aggressive about an opinion like that. Doubtlessly if someone feels like it there will be a mod to allow this. I don't want it (though I do want to see at least a couple dragons that are more than just cookie-cutter villains) but it's just an opinion and people aren't "pitiful" for having an opinion that's different.

Dude I wasn't being aggressive I'm just tired of seeing the same thing over and over when we know for a fact it isn't going to be in the game.
If there is a mod which will almost certainly happen I'll probably try it out myself for fun but it just doesnt belong in the game.
Also I wasn't referig to the people being pitiful I was referring to the number of people for it vs. against smarty pants :P

Edit: grammar ( damn iPod )
Edit2: grammar...again (damn iPod lol)
Also about the dragons being cookie cutter villains you will be happy to hear Todd hinted in one of the interviews they may not all be evil

Just wait until the barrage of "Can I run it????!!" threads blossom mwahaha. It won't be so bad here though since the moderation is so organized, but on other sites I expect five or more system requirements threads to pop up a day.

i'd rather shapeshift into a dragon through means of a dragon shout since dragons themselves are rumored to have shapeshifting abilities to disguise themselves and rosh taka has also been rumored to succeed in transforming himself into a dragon.

anolize the name of Tosh Raka.

Yes, that's right. He is probably an avatar of Akatosh, and that why he can shapeshift.

It's often funny seeing these threads. Not because the OP is wrong or asking for something "Absurd" but because of all the supposed TES fans taht bash him and lash out about how "un -TES" this is.

When in fact, there HAVE been people that have rode dragons before in TES lore. On top of this dragons are intelligent beings, do you think it would be absurd and out of place, if during a part in the storyline our character comes across a dragon who isn't trying to help kill him or other humans but instead he talks into helping him and by doing so the dragon helps him travel across the world to meet the final "boss" or what have you? no that would NOT be out of place or "un-TES" to do.

Dragons have helped people in the past in the lore of TES, it's not absurd and it's not stupid and could EASILY be worked into the lore.

What's more un-tes? Having all the dragons be "bad guys that want to kill everyone." Dragons are intelligent, they shouldn't all be dumb bloodthirsty animals that are going on a rampage attackign everything like they so far seem to be geared toward doing. There should be dragons, like people, that are good, bad, in-between, what you'd expect from intelligent beings rather then animals.

Dragons have helped, yes. But these dragons are at service of Alduin, the World Eater. Guess what they want to do? Turn the world to ashes. You are the last Dragonborn, Tamriel's last hope, and you are a dragon slayer. Would a dragon be friend of a dragon slayer?

Snip

well fair enough but were those dragons servants of Alduin awoken to destroy the world? Most likely not...
It's not TES lore it breaks in general it's the lore behind the purpose they are in skyrim NOW that it goes against, although Todd hinted there may be some good dragons thrown in the mix , most likely quest related because I can't see a dragon flying out of nowhere and asking to help carry your loot to town. Regardless of lore, it's confirmed not happening anyway so we don't really need any more can I ride dragon threads.

Why this fascination with riding dragons? Personally I think that'd be so cliche and lame for a TES game.

there is too much negativity. So what if mounting dragons is against """lore"""..? Who cares! It's gameplay that matters.

Let's say I defeated a dragon. IT IS an honourable beast, isn't it? Then it must follow my commands, since I defeated it in honourable battle.

Only one problem: The Todd already said "Not gonna happen." Enjoy your dragonriding mod. :P

Blasphemy! but seriously no. Lore is one of those things that makes the world of TES so unique, immersive, and fun to play in. and besides, Todd already said no.

Do you think the dragon is going to give up half way through the fight and admit defeat only to disgrace himself, and his race, by having you ride around on his back and telling him orders!? No way, Dragons are gonna fight to their death. It's the honorable thing to do.

Maiq knows much, tells some.

Why would we want to ride dragons? Maiq is chrunchy and tastes good with Katchup!

well I don't think lore is that important if it restricts gameplay.

I don't think you realize what kind of beasts dragons are. They are honour-bound. This means they are FORCED to obey you.

Wow, congratz. You got over 100 votes for "I hope so". Wouldn't have expected that. I voted "nop", though I would have preferred "nope", or "no"

A design choice I can be happy about. Mounting dragons is wrong for the atmosphere. But for people who want to, it will be modded in record speed.

What are you talking about?

Why would that mean that they're forced to obey you? Where did you get that they're honor bounds anyway?

From what I saw, no matter how intelligent they are, they're not fond of humans, so they won't let them ride them...
