Do you think we will be able to mount dragons at some point?

Post » Wed Apr 28, 2010 1:11 pm

Well, b4 all go "TROLL" on me, just think about it. You have bested a dragon in combat and you decide to spare its life in return for a lifelong service. It may sound a bit silly, but just think about how epic it would be, flying around massacring your foes and rauaging the land while you are mounted on your faithful dragon friend!

If this isn't in the game, then the modders SURELY must put it in... Right? What'ya think?

Todd Howard himself has confirmed that you can NOT mount Dragons in Skyrim.
Dragons are not animals. Dragons are intelligent beings that are older than anything pretty much. They are not stupid animals to be "tamed" and mounted.

They did it for Oblivion, I see no reason why they won't this time around.

That being said, I'm glad there won't be any dragon mounting in (vanilla) Skyrim.

aww come on don't be so negative! Surely dragons are honourable animals? They know when they have been bested!

I don't think you should get this option at level 3 or smth, more like level 10-12, so that you can kick some major ass if you choose to!

Modders will start doing those about 2 months after Skyrim releases. I don't even put much mods in Oblivion. I omly put the mods that can blend in the game. Not some like Dragon riding from J-RPGs.

Who are the dragons going to follow? Some mortal, or a god that is large enough to devour the world? To make it easier, think of it this way, the dragons are to the time god Akatosh/Alduin/Auriel, as angels are to God

People are requesting very strange things for Skyrim, marriage, kids, dragon mounts. I could just imagine my character turning and saying to his wife, ''love, I'm just popping down the shops on the dragon, the kids have ran out of pritt stick for their school project, do we need milk?''

Yes, very TES . . . .

Lol. This is exactly what I thought of first when I read the title of the thread. I want dragon heads to put up on my walls. Maybe a dragon skin rug. Perhaps a dragon skull I can keep on a table. Trophies of my awesomeness against the scourge of humanity. lol

I didnt even think about riding one of the darn creatures. Hell why would you be dumb enough to think the dragon wont just buck you off mid flight. Why would your enemy give you rides when you could so easily be killed once airborne. I dont get it.

Dont misunderstand, if this was a different game, dragon riding could be super appropriate and awesome. It just doesnt make as much sense in the context of THIS particular game.

edit: like others have mentioned, I expect some mods to do this anyway. so for those of you dissapointed, dont worry, just be a little patient.

Gawd I hope not. The modders definitely will as usual, but Bethesda in the vanilla game? Please, no.

Nevermind- they're intelligent, and if I were in the spot you describe I'd surely agree to haul my would-be slayer around. Then said would-be slayer's first flight would turn into a rodeo at 10,000 feet. "Okay tough-guy hero, if you can hang on long enough you get to live- but I've been flying a loooooooong time, so don't get to thinking 8 seconds will cut it!" :P

You can think up arguments about why dragon mounts should be in all you want, fact is it is not going to happen in vanilla Skyrim. Bethesda is not going to put it in.

Wait for a modder to do it, that's the only way you'll ever get this.

No I don't think so, though I do hope some of the dragons are more neutral or friendly.

I don t really understand this obsession people have to be willing to ride something big, long and hard, that will get you to heaven at all cost....

There must be a psichological explanation somewhere, some IRL frustration.
