Do you think it will just be 5 cities?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:22 pm

So far it looks like we have

1. Solitude (Not clear, but you can make it out - top left
2.Riften
3.Whiterun
4.Windhelm

And thats all I see ....

Dawnstar is now a large settlement, and Winterhold is completely gone (apart from the region) - this dissapoints me.

Where is the 5th?

I hope that if they are only going to have 5, that they are the size of 3 or 4 Oblivion cities in one.
And of course many small villages and such, that have purpose.

The Imperial city could be number 5, since we have (hopefully) a map for Skyrim that we can reference.

They have more, but 5 really big ones. And yes.

Imperial City? What?

Read this, please.

Why wouldn't there be smaller cities? Okay, fine. Perhaps Bethesda could use the duels, improved AI, and radiant storytelling as excuses to justify there being less settlements in the game. Indeed, something tells me that each of the five cities in Skyrim will probably have more to do than some of the largest cities in the game's predecessors combined could offer. But there's still no reason for there not to be small towns.

Skyrim is a large, sprawling landscape and I'm sure there'll be plenty of villages, secret covens, and outposts. They needn't be particularly overdeveloped, but I think they should have at least as much to do as, say, Suran did.

I count 19 cities, each of the gray squares is a settlement, and with the new Radiant story, we can expect more active/alive villages/cities/fortresses. This game is gonna be amazing. :celebration:
Its just said there are 5 MAJOR cities, just like oblivion had little settlements scattered out.

Of course Yes, if you vote No well... Anyways, with the new engine maybe cities this time will be huge and towns will be like the size of cities from the past and stuff.

I guess I should play a sad tune to the disappearance of common sense.
:violin:

Have to agree with that... Common sense is a virtue these days :P

Most of the people who pressed No were probably just reading the title and voted.

I'm sure they will. Both Morrowind and Oblivion had smaller settlements, so I'm not sure why they would suddenly feel the need to remove them. Besides, the map pretty much confirms it and the fans want them. Based on this, I'm pretty confident Skyrim will have settlements in addition to the cities.

There are 20-22 major settlements (more than a cell, the 2 debatables are on the Western corner of the coast and in the bottom of the canyon) based on the map. 5 of those are major cities. Riverdale is just one of the multicell little towns and there seemed to be a lot to do there. I am sure we don't need to worry about settlements, you are right. Look for the link I posted if you want to see the map.

It will not be just 5 cities. Thread question answered.

What happened to Winterhold and Dawnstar? I was looking forward to seeing them after going through them in Arena.
