Do you think It's worth getting F3 on PC for the mods after

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:28 am

I've probably put about 100 hours into the game on 360 but I'm sort of tempted to buy the game again on PC to experience some of the realism and weapons mods. Is it worth the money do you think? Are there any mods released that are that game changing? I know New Vegas is coming out in a few months but I won't really have the time to play it due to college constraints.

Yes. I'd make that yes bold flashing and 100pt, but that's obnoxious. It's very incredibly worth it, as with any bethesda game, people have taken the ability to alter any part of the game and ran with it.

Yes some mods are game changing and yes I think you should get it 100 hours isn't that much compared to how long some of us other Fallout veterans have played, I had well over 300 hours on my 360 before I switched to PC.

Yes - I played Morrowind for 2 straight years and then got several more years' play out of it both as a mod-user and, eventually, as a modder.

Definitely. There are many mods to choose from, some of which can completely change the gameplay.

That's what I did. Played first on the 360 and then moved to the PC. Although I played on the 360 for about a year and for many, many more hours. The mods can make so many changes to the game that it is very replayable.

No, I did the same as you. The only thing that I did on the pc version is use the command line. Other than that, it's not fun. At least to me cheats ruin a game and takes hours away from game play. But sometimes it's fun to spawn several death claws and spawn several fawks to fight each other.

Thanks for the advice guys. Just curious are there any issues using F3 mods with Steam? I know a lot of games have problems with it.

So your lack of self restraint and apparent not trying of any mod means mods aren't worth switching for? That logic doesn't make sense. There are mods to stop you using the console, though :P

Yeea, the console isn't the reason for getting the PC version. Get mods, otherwise it's pointless.

I've played for more than 1000 hours of fallout 3. But right now, only about 500 hours are shown because I have a habit of deleting my accounts by accident....
Also on my pc, I sometimes have to reformat, cause I get a virus or something.
BUT if you aren't sure wether to buy on pc, BUY! You can get a game mechanics overhaul like Fallout Wanderers Edition. And, you can get new quests from mods, as well as weapons and armor, or perhaps even make your own mod?

I'm a disc girl myself but we have tons of Steam users around using mods without issue. Stay away from the Direct 2 Drive version though. It's unable to use a utility which is needed for many mods,

Did you ever try mods, the one real reason to go to pc.

I would have to say "no". It would be one thing to buy it on PC after playing for maybe 20 hours on Xbox, but it's a whole other thing to buy it after playing it for hundreds of hours on different characters. Mods don't change the game nearly as much as some people would like to think, and usually it feels like cheating when you use them. Then again, this is coming from a guy who plays Fallout 3 on Xbox. :celebration:

Then you obviously never heard of FWE, FOOK or MMM have you? they all make the game harder.

They can change the game completely if you want them to. I played on console for 1,000 hours before switching to PC a year ago and my game looks nothing like my 360 games. My wasteland is filled with larger mobs of enemies, Geckos, Iguanas, ghouls who only come out at night, three-story Super Mutant Gargantuans, power armored Deathclaws, trogs, Punga Scorpions, fireflies, random travelers, shops, more people in the settlements, vertibird bombing runs, shacks, towns and vaults to discover, clubs to fight in, notes and books to find, quests, a hundred boarded-up buildings now open for exploration, foods to cook, chems to indulge in and use as weapons and nobody cares if I kick a can in their presence any longer.

Mods can change the game 100% if that is what you wish and everyone I know uses mods which make their game harder because vanilla was too easy.

I played on the 360 for about a year and 1200 hours. Moving to the PC after 20 hours on the Xbox wouldn't have been of interest to me; I really enjoyed playing on the console. However, I finally got tired of the same old game and wanted to use mods to mix things up a bit. Mods change my game so much that I want to continue to play it, and still do, which I wouldn't be doing if I only had it on the 360.

...But is it really worth another 60 dollars? As much as mods might change the game, paying 60 dollars for a game you already have is not worth it.

$60 ($55 including tax in my case) for years of enjoyment is ridiculously cheap entertainment. For the same price as one month's internet service, I've had over 800 hours of playtime and endless fun playing the pre-game mod mini-game not to mention Geck time and I'm still going strong. 60 dollars may be a waste of money for someone who has game ADD and only plays a few hours before moving on to the next game from Gamefly but for those who enjoy spending hundreds of hours exploring the surroundings and creating their own stories, it's a great investment. It's up to the OP to determine if he thinks it's worth the cash.

But it's not the same game, playing Fallout 3 with mods is a completely different experience than on a console.
