Do you think it would be neat if there was a FNV Vertibird D

I like combat flight sims and fallout and I think it would be cool if they could combine both of them. I know there is a vertibird mod that someone did however it crashes the game, and you really don't have a good view of the cockpit, and a lot more could be done with the weapons.

I just think it would be cool to roam the skies and deliver death from above, or aid depending on the situation. It would be cool if companions could join you inside and one them could fly the thing while you and the others rope in or parachute out or something. And the flight controls don't have to be really complex just simple things like firing the guns and raising the gear, and turning the engine on and off. There could be locations accessible only by vertibird, where you'd have to buy gas, ammo, and weapons and upgrades for your bird.

Yes fastravel eliminates the need for transport and whatnot but it doesn't give quite the same satisfaction as dropping bombs on stuff, and shooting the crap out of targets with rockets and miniguns, or gatling laser guns....or dropping napalm on zombies.

I'm just wondering if I'm all alone with this line of thinking.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

1) No new DLC for this game. It's over, and nothing will ever change that.
2) There is no reason the Courier could fly a Vertibird, would have access to it nor would have enough fuel to operate one (Vertibirds consume a lot of fuel, apparently).
3) It would get old pretty quick.

All respect for liberal use of imagination, but this is something that will never happen. Excluding mods, of course.

There were a few really good Enclave Vertibird mods for FO3, unfortunately none of them involve actively flying one. I don't think we will see anything close to that until FO4, due to the constraints of the aging Gamebryo implementation.

Cool thank you for your input.

Well I hope we'll get to have some hands on vertibird action in future Fallouts...if there are going to be any.

Once again thank you for your input.

There's more than just Vertibird's in Fallout, I'm sure that the U.S. Military considered the use of helicopters or similar aircraft in the 100 plus period between the Fallout Divergence and the Great War. Just saying.

As for your "controls" for the Vertibird they are beyond anything that the engine Fallout uses could handle. Period. Let me give you an example, when you turnt the power back on in Nellis and the lights come on, the lights don't switch-on, i.e. there isn't some animation for the light coming on; if you look up in time you can see the "off" lights disappear and the "on" lights take there place. That's how this game works.

Ever wondered why the Strip doesn't count as "outside" for the outdoors related perks? Because if you were to no-clip through the walls you wouldn't be able to run to the Gun Runners or anything; it would just be featureless terrain. Same with buildings, when you enter a building, if you glitched your way through the walls you wouldn't be back outside but rather falling through a brown coloured void. That's just how the game works.

The "flying vertibird" mods in Fallout 3 didn't really work well at all so the same applies to New Vegas. Creating some sort of "flight simulator" would be far beyond the current abilities of gamebryo.

Not to mention that sort of thing is best left to mods, not official DLC's.

You must remember FNV is not a first person shooter, world at war game. There are no Master Chiefs or frigates in this game, the world ended! Act like it! Who the hell would bring in military aid ESPECIALLY in the Mojave? The NCR is doing so bad in the Mojave, they renamed "Camp Hope" to "Camp Forlorn Hope"....
