Wow. You guys are really something else. I dont know why everyone has this Bethesda is EVIL mentality. You guys go ahead and keep thinking they are lying about the things they say.
Me on the otherhand. When a video game developer posts on its newest game's website under the SCREENSHOTS section.....and then later confirms people who are in disbelief.....well im gonna take that as truth.
Its not to say Bethesda would never tell a lie. But this whole conspiracy theory stuff is really strange. I guess hype will do crazy things to people.
It has nothing do do with "conspiracy theories" or a "Bethesda is EVIL mentality". To quote Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, "It's called reality, my friend." Yes, hype will do crazy things to people. Like cause them to believe every word a
public relations and marketing expert says.
If he went through all that just for us to later find out it was just a doctored photo and that screen will never be seen in game......well I think that would be a pretty crappy move on their part, and they would lose a LOT of trust going forth.
They really wouldn't. People love Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls games (myself included) and a very small number (not even everybody who posts on this forum) would be aware of all this. Later this year, be it before release or after, when we finally "find out" they really won't lose any of my trust because I'm already aware it isn't an in-game screenshot
Hes also in charge of public relations and marketing, and likely went through 4 years of college learning that a blatant lie is not good for public relations and marketing. Embellishing features is one thing, saying a dog is a horse is another. It looks like concept art to me, too, but i'll trust his word.
Of course blatant lies aren't good...unless you can temporarily pass them off and convince people they're truths (with the hope that after the game is released and people have already spent money they'll sort of forget about or excuse it.)
*cough*Oblivion*cough*
Look, I'm not trying to take a dump all over everybody's expectations for Skyrim, but come on. As someone said previously in this thread, in the very small chance that it is a screenshot, it's probably part of a cut scene or opening cinematic. Not an actual place you can travel to or explore.
