Do You Think You'll Be Able to Go to Everything You See in T

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 8:45 pm

No, if it is a screenshot, I'm 100% positive it has been edited.

I dunno it just seems insane to me. Why would they edit a screenshot to look nothing like it does in game? Thats pretty darn misleading if you ask me.

When we get the game it will probably be in black and white. Bethesda will just say they edited the screens and videos to show color.

The logical part of me wants to agree with you. I mean just by looking at that screen it seems impossible that you can go anywhere you see.....But at the same time I do think that a developer said you can go anywhere you can see....I think. So why say that if it were obvious BS (not bethesda softworks ; )

There are bound to be a lot of mountains in the game....I hope that most of them arent just there for looks.

Many open world developers, including Bethesda and Rockstar San Diago, have used "go anywhere you see" in the past as a hook for they're large open worlds without any walls or loading screens. They all still had boundaries - which is acceptable, as there is no logical way to avoid it (sans island worlds.) That is why island based open world games are so popular among major developers.

In fact, I remember the "Living in the west" trailer said "go anywhere you see" almost word for word before Red Dead Redemption - I'm not discouraged, i'm sure the world will be as full of life as we all hope.

13 "No's"? Hasn't this been confirmed to be in game?

Either that or they have some kind of force guarding the border so that once you pass an invisible line you will be destroyed in seconds by overpowering might.

I can see the future. You're going to be back on Bethesda Forum's complaining about small nooks in the game on November 11th, 2011. This is absolutely ridiculous, your picking the game apart months before release - it's not going to be perfect, we all know this. You're both hyping yourself up over features you hope to see, and tearing apart minor details you don't like - you're going to force yourself to hate Skyrim, and thats a shame.

Yes, it has. However, those 13 people do not feel you'll be able to go everywhere in that image, for one reason or another.

Yea I read and edited my post..... I think the facepalm says it all lol.

No, it really doesn't. It implies you disagree but don't quite know why.

Honestly I think you might be over thinking it....but at the same time we could ALL be wrong. I think if anything on this photo was edited, it was that multiple screenshots were merged together into one, large, composite image. IMO, its simply 3 or more screenshots side by side, edited so that they appear to all be one huge image to really show you the scale and landscape.

Exactly?

I could be wrong, but Id imagine that this will be in the game. I think a lot of people would be seriously dissapointed if Bethesda was editing all of their screens and what not to make it look better than what it was.

This particular place may be but it will hardly look at all like it does in the image. Case in point.

Yea your absolutely right I mean there has to be 'limits' somewhere and Im fine with that. However I dont want mountain ranges like the one in the screen smack dab in the middle of the map if I cannot explore them. Having invisible boundaries 'in map' is unacceptable to me lol.

Oh and for the record, I watched that trailer. They never said that

I doubt there will be boundaries inside the map, neither Oblivion or Morrowind had them before.

Maybe it was Life in the West part 2? - I know it was somewhere, I was (blushing) looking forward to, and hyping up, Red Dead Redemption much longer than I have been for Skyrim, and wasn't disappointed. But that is for another forum.

I was simply pointing out a telling feature that confirmed the screenshot to be ingame. I am determined to like Skyrim, just as I am with every Elder Scrolls game. Stop misinterpreting what I'm saying.

No, it really doesn't. It implies you disagree but don't quite know why.

Like I said I just dont see them editing a picture from the game to the point where it would be unrecognizable. If there was any editing done I do NOT think it would be so extreme that the actual game does not look like this anywhere. Why would they do that?

Exactly?

Not really exactly. What I was saying is that I dont think the colors, contrast or any of that was edited. I think that it is simply multiple screens positioned side by side for one large, fluid image. That would mean that this WAS in the game.....?

This particular place may be but it will hardly look at all like it does in the image. Case in point.

Again it falls under why would anyone edit a screenshot so that it looks nothing like it does in game. Dont you think that would cause some controversy? Taking a screenshot and editing to the point where it looks nothing like the game does....I just dont think Ive seen that before. Why would Bethesda trick people like that it makes no sense to me

I don't get the point of the pic....the shadow is jagged because the rock formation is bumpy.

There are multiple perfectly smooth shadows all around that one....so.....yeah

I am confident I will see this view in-game, even if it is a much smaller perspective on that mountain range.

Ah. It is possible I was mistaken about the shadow jaggedness due to optimization purposes. Anyways, jagged shadows or not, that's still a damn cool screenshot.

A-Freakin-Men. Lol.

I think you are absolutely right. This exact view will at least at some point in the game.

Maybe it's in the game, but outside the game space. Maybe it's what you see over the invisible border wall.

Honestly Ive read everything. Its funny because I was kind of thinking the same thing about you.

I think its in game, not edited to the point where you will not see this image in game. Thats what Im saying.

Maybe it's from the opening cutscene

Not that I have a strong opinion about any part of it, I just noticed this wasn't mentioned as a possibility.

Yes, it has. However, those 13 people do not feel you'll be able to go everywhere in that image, for one reason or another.

Actualy, if you look closely at the wording of the poll it says: "Will some of what's in the picture not be accessible?" Hence a 'No' response in the poll actualy means that you will be able to go everywhere, while a 'Yes' response means: 'Yes, some areas will be unaccessable'

I'm assuming that some people didn't read properly and thus the polls results are not valid.

About the picture, I belive 'composite' refers to the fact it is several screen shots linked together to get a view you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. Other than that it probably is not edited any further, it's just because the individual screenshots are so small compared to the whole, (as they are combined to make one picture) it appears to have a level of detail we find unbeliveable.

Ouch. Luckily I never voted lol....I never vote in poles anymore.

You nailed what I was saying about the edited screen right on the head. I dunno if you read through this thread or not, but I completely agree with you.

Jagged shadows? Those mountains look pretty jagged to me. Wouldn't they leave a jagged shadow?
