I seriously doubt it. I would put money on it.

To those above;

To me, it looks as if the shadow coming off of the small rock I have highlighted in the linked picture is jagged due to low resolution detail shadows. I have no idea if this is the case or if the rock itself being jagged contributed to the shadow jaggedness, either way, it doesn't really matter. We'll find out in 7 months.

Considering that is concept art, I'd say no.

Seriously people, Pete confirms that it's in-game, it's just a composite image.

You do realize Pete Hines is in charge of public relations and marketing, don't you? It's his job to say things like this, regardless of its truth.

Wow. You guys are really something else. I dont know why everyone has this Bethesda is EVIL mentality. You guys go ahead and keep thinking they are lying about the things they say.

Me on the otherhand. When a video game developer posts on its newest game's website under the SCREENSHOTS section.....and then later confirms people who are in disbelief.....well im gonna take that as truth.

Its not to say Bethesda would never tell a lie. But this whole conspiracy theory stuff is really strange. I guess hype will do crazy things to people.

Hes also in charge of public relations and marketing, and likely went through 4 years of college learning that a blatant lie is not good for public relations and marketing. Embellishing features is one thing, saying a dog is a horse is another. It looks like concept art to me, too, but i'll trust his word.

Exactly. I dont think this image accidentally popped up under the screenshots on Skyrims home site.

Im right there with you. From the first time I saw this image I personally thought it was concept art, and I still find it hard to believe. But come on. Im not going to sit here and believe that Bethesda edits screenshots to look much better than their actual game does. And I certainly wont believe they would lie about something that can so easily be proven false.

That screenshot is too good to be real :woot: it's an illusion, it's a chimera!
Seriously, if they said it's in game it must be taken from the game, but I think it's edited somehow to look like art, because it's very different than the other screenshots.

...Yeah.......and who's complaining over graphics?

;)

And yes, I believe you'll be able to go there, because Todd mentions that anything you see in-game, you can go.

Composite image meaning that the colors, mist, textures, and lighting have all been processed & edited? Well then I don't see what's so amazing about it. We won't actually be seeing that in game. It may have at one time been a screenshot but no longer is now.

No, if it is a screenshot, I'm 100% positive it has been edited.

Grady... are you comprehending anything I've said thus far? Just look over my posts again, I'd rather not reiterate myself.

Pete Hines only says it is a screenshot. TheFriendlyBear is the one who calls it a composite. It looks to me as though you took what TheFriendlyBear said as gospel and ran with it, and gave no further evidence to support your "100% positive." We all have enough experience with the Elder Scrolls to know that its screenshots do not have to be edited for them to look good.

It's a screenshot. Look up a definition of "composite" to get a very clear idea of the only editing that there's any evidence of (stitching multiple component screenshots together).

So yes, we'll be able to go there.

Read the guy above you. By composite I dont think it was supposed to be implied that the screenshot had been altered beyond recognition. That is what some people were suggesting 'composite' meant. I dont think so.

Nope. Try again. I knew about this image long before threads like these started popping up. My opinion has remained the same since it's release. Want evidence? The textures make it look like it's from Borderlands or Rage even. How do you explain that? Things are set up too perfectly such as the sunset in the background and the mist along the rocks. It is obviously artwork or an edited screenshot.

Right... did you ever stop to think that this may have been designed to be a poster? It's certainly shaped like one.

As for being in game like Pete Hines supposedly said, cutscene anybody?

You are absolutely right, something doesnt look quite right about it to be in game. But I still think it simply looks a bit strange because it is SO much detail all in one screenshot. Which would make sense, if it were multiple screens linked together.

Your right though and it could be a cutscene, or even a behind the scenes 'far in the distance' view of areas that arent actually in game. That would also make sense as to why it looks so spectacular. I remember Halo (all of them) had some downright amazing 'out of map' views of areas you couldnt get to.

But even if it was a cutscene chances are it would still be an in the game location. It might not necessarily look like that, but Im sure a cutscene of Skyrim would contain actual places in game. Id hope so anyways.

I guess only time will tell for sure.

Please state the evidence that suggests it isn't a screenshot, or that it's edited in any way other than being stitched together from multiple screenshots (the definition of "composite" in this context).

It's been stated to be in game. It is not concept art.

I do find it interesting, though, that there is nothing in that image to give us a sense of scale.

That's a silly question. Of course we'll be able to go everywhere (after we disable invisible borders) - to the sky via levitation (if not in the game from the start, there will be a mod for it), too.

It might take a while to reach the sun though ...

To be fair there actually is no proof that the screenshot is edited. If anything there is evidence that suggests it is not, with the confirmation from Pete on twitter. That isnt necessarily proof the screen ISNT edited, but my point is we dont know for sure either way and the evidence points to it being real.

All we have is assumptions. I agree with you dan it really does look edited, or concept-ish, or even like a painting. With all that said though I still think that even I am wrong, and that its actually in game.

Like I said time will tell.
