Do You Think You'll Be Able to Go to Everything You See in T

Do you think you'll be able to have your character walk on every single mountain pinnacle and mountain side in this picture (including the distant area where the sun is setting or rising)? Or do you think an invisible wall could prevent access to everything you see in the image (such as in Oblivion where when you climb the mountains along the edge of the map enough you reach an invisible wall and you can only see the mountains beyond but can't reach it)?

Pete Hines confirmed on Twitter that it was a screenshot and not artwork:

Plus, it's in the screenshots section of the official site for Skyrim like itsgrady mentioned.

I don't know, and won't till November. That looks like concept art, as well, correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah, that's definitely concept art. Though a lot of crazy people like to think it's not. :P

Todd Howard and others have already said that everything inside the province is within reach, as it should be.

Welp, than i'd imagine you won't be able to go anywhere in that image, and thats all there is to say about it.

It's not concept art, it's a composite screenshot (i.e a couple of screenies put together). As for if we'll be able to go everywhere, well we'll have to wait till 11/11/11 to find out.

It's been stated to be in game. It is not concept art.

I do find it interesting, though, that there is nothing in that image to give us a sense of scale.

Good point. I'm imagining this image becoming obscured by the dragonborn's left foot, as he steps over this ant hill.

Seriously people, Pete confirms that it's in-game, it's just a composite image.

...Yeah.......and who's complaining over graphics?

;)

And yes, I believe you'll be able to go there, because Todd mentions that anything you see in-game, you can go.

Yes, it is in-game. Look for the jagged shadow; evidence of shadow resolution scaling due to optimization purposes.

Unless they include jagged shadows in concept art now. More true to the final product, maybe?

Jagged shadows? Those mountains look pretty jagged to me. Wouldn't they leave a jagged shadow?

Composite image meaning that the colors, mist, textures, and lighting have all been processed & edited? Well then I don't see what's so amazing about it. We won't actually be seeing that in game. It may have at one time been a screenshot but no longer is now.

If you want proof that this is a screenshot, simply go to Skyrims page, go to media, then take careful notice that this picture is located in the 'screenshots', not the concept art.

This is already absolutely confirmed to be in game, there is no debating it. As to whether we will be able to go everywhere in the pic..... It doesnt look like it but I sure hope so.

Read my post above. If they edited in, say, Gryphons, would it still be considered a screenshot?

A processed screenshot is still a screenshot. But you are right, it is still something that won't be seen in the game.

Who says that they edited the screenshot? In your previous post, you are asking a question, which I took to mean that you were unsure i.e. assuming that they made edits to the screenshot.

Im gonna throw out the mean bone and say, you won't be able to go everywhere you see. Skyrim is a northern landmass, not surrounded by water. There will have to be a cutoff of the gameworld - probably set in with scenery, with visible land on the other side, it will likely be an invisible wall, or an automatic "turn the player around" warp, inaccessible mountains, or some other boundary limit.

Expect an invisible wall the same as you saw in Oblivion and Fallout 3, or impossible to access mountains like in Fallout New Vegas - theres simply no way around it. (Pun intended)

Yea I read and edited my post..... I think the facepalm says it all lol.

Honestly I think you might be over thinking it....but at the same time we could ALL be wrong. I think if anything on this photo was edited, it was that multiple screenshots were merged together into one, large, composite image. IMO, its simply 3 or more screenshots side by side, edited so that they appear to all be one huge image to really show you the scale and landscape.

I could be wrong, but Id imagine that this will be in the game. I think a lot of people would be seriously dissapointed if Bethesda was editing all of their screens and what not to make it look better than what it was.

Yeah, they probably did do some extensive editing to it, but the environment itself with the dynamic snow and shadows (both features confirm) really make the whole scene breathtaking and so, there isn't that much to edit besides the colors.

No, if it is a screenshot, I'm 100% positive it has been edited.

The logical part of me wants to agree with you. I mean just by looking at that screen it seems impossible that you can go anywhere you see.....But at the same time I do think that a developer said you can go anywhere you can see....I think. So why say that if it were obvious BS (not bethesda softworks ; )

There are bound to be a lot of mountains in the game....I hope that most of them arent just there for looks.

They could just have randomly generated infinite landscape continue on forever, however after a few minutes of going back towards the main gameworld, you were there, no matter how long you roamed off into the randomly generated wilderness.
