Do you turn down the difficulty level?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:20 pm

I turned it up to expert because I want to craft and do everything in the game without limiting myself because I accidently broke the game

I have turned up my difficulty because the game was getting a little easy.. Elder Dragons are still a little to weak.. But pyromancers and these ice witches are a little annoying when I come by them..

And I never did turn down my difficulty because I am used to more hardcoe games like Dark Souls.. Dark Souls was 10x harder then Skyrim.. I also beat Demon Souls which was a little harder for me..

I occasionaly turn it up and down to give me more or less a challenge.

And anyone that says they have never turned it down is a [censored] liar!

I never have before, but I'm going to have to in my next session because

Spoiler

All these Draugr Scourges are destroying my little thief, I'm out of potions and about to confront Karliah. I have a feeling she's going to kick my ass and I don't want to back out of the dungeon to restock on potions since I'm there with Mercer: I'd be the laughing stock of the guild!

I would never turn my difficulty level down for a battle. I would leave, get new gear, a few levels, and come back. Most of the time I just try again and again and vary my attacks until I figure out to win

This is a great game!

Not really. There are always several ways of defeating enemies, and usually there is also the option of running away, which I'll take if it's the only way of getting out of a situation I can't beat at the moment. Tbh somebody has already mentioned the bastard mage that's given me the most problems so far, as well as other mages on Sanguine's quest, which I won't spoil, as it really surprised me when I stumbled upon it.

?Nah, I'm fine with Adept and planning on staying that way. If I keep dying, then it's reload x 100 if it has to be.
Maybe on my 2nd playthrough I might move it up to Expert. But no, I never turn it down below Adept.

Don't worry Karliah is very easy.. She can't hurt you to well.. :spotted owl: She is very weak.. If I were to say who is more dangerous.. Karliah or Mercer Frey who goes with you on that mission.. I would definitely say Mercer Frey.. :spotted owl:

Lets say during Azura's Star quest, I turned from Expert to Novice because I didn't appreciate eating 3 people casting fireballs into my face, narrow corridor and all from the very first second. There is no shame, I want to journey and experience but I love a challenge. However, that challenge shouldn't trap and own me everytime I decide being bold...So much for watching over me Azura, you snitch.

your stories if you turn the difficulty setting down and why.

The first game hero I played at default, after 100 hours and completing the main quest I started a new game with a heroine. I had read someone playing on master then I checked to see what levels and turn it down to easiest. I found the game more fun as I didn't have to reload a million times.

Hard when the remaining 2 Dremora are blocking your path and making you eat fire, despite having 50% absorption and potions. I dropped my mage for now and went with a spellsword, clearly a pure mage who can conjure and cast destruction without a care isn't made to survive beyond level 20.

Only done it once. Was level 25, and a wild Elder Dragon came out of nowhere and attacked me as soon as I came out of a cave, I tried running, I tried waiting in the cave, I tried fighting, but no luck, I didn't have any potions on me. So I had to turn down the difficulty so I could get through him without potions. Never turned it down again though.

I play on Master and it's going to be left there. I hate being able to change difficulties mid-game because there is no proof of me not changing it secretly. But I don't mind that you can for others sakes. I just left the difficulty on Master and created a New Game and left it from there. If I do struggle, I can reload a few times and if I cannot win I'll just run. I love it being so hard and difficult though. It makes me feel like I am not the ultimate person but just a really good warrior/fighter. I wish they had an option where you can turn off the features such as Waiting, Fast Travel and Difficulty. So that it's impossible to actually use them. But I don't mind that I can't because I can choose what I can and can't do. So in short, never.

I personally leave the game on normal settings. Some fights are cake, others are reload reload, and some... I have to come back later. I don't mind. I got nothing to prove. :tes:

thanks, good to know! I dunno about Mercer though. He's big on talk but these fancy Draugr are beating him down. He keeps going into the fetal position while 5 Draugr and a Frost Atronach mob me!

I'm going to get more strategic with shouts, pots, and poison. I love Skyrim!

Just like to hear (ok read) your stories if you turn the difficulty setting down and why.

:tes:

Yep, I'm 43 and share console access time with three sons. Still have managed almost 200 hours on my own profile. Playing on Adept all the way through, but there are occasionally battles - a couple of times a week - when I drop the difficulty because I just don't have the brainspace to deal with the fast potion and spell management needed for the toughest mobs. Last time I recall was the chaurus boss brood under the Winterhold lighthouse. I really despise the Falmer and their pets.
