Personally I would like to use Alchemy more, but I can never find enough room for it. I want to start a character eventually who depends on Alchemy alot, an 'Alchemist' if you will.
I'm interested to see how you feel about Alchemy.

What do you use it for? I can see myself using it for unarmed damage.
Like Mike, I only used it for the resto loop.
I would upgrade stupid things like an iron dagger doing 200000 damage.
One time I used it for a unarmed character and made a ring that increased the damage to 600+.
I use it when I use destruction as primary damage and on a poisoner assassin.
I Chose 4th option leveling alchemy is a pain in the ass no way alchemy is not for me potions are very easy to find so no use of it
I use it as a part of role play and have only had one character get into the 40+ range with alchemy. Never used the resto loop thingy.
Indeed. Use it mostly to get easy money.
i'll use alchemy if i'm rping a guy who uses alchemy.
i never exploit alchemy unless i want the free perks, will never use the skill for actual gameplay and want it for purely rp reasons.
however, alchemy is not well-developed, is unbalanced and not that fun in and of itself.
Alchemy (with Hearthfire installed) is one of the fastest leveling skills in the game. If you have enough salmon roe and histcarp or nordic barnacles, you can go from 15 to around 70 Alchemy in about 30 seconds.
Yes, I love it. I even tried zero-alchemy characters but it didn't work, I can't help myself picking up, mixing ingredients, poisoning things and getting rich.
You're making Alchemy seem really attractive. I definitely need to do a full blown Alchemist build soon. Maybe even today! Oooh how exciting! I can traverse Skyrim in search of rare and exotic ingredients. I want to try and use as many of the potions I create as possible, but it can be overwhelming, making it easier to sell alot of them.
Thanks Aurora.
I love alchemy, though TESV made it less complex and more boring. Also levels so slowly. But I can't not pick up ingredients so I still use it, though not for the exploits. Don't bother with such nonsense.
I hardly ever use it. It's not that I dislike it. It's just that I never really found a need for it.
Same reason why I hardly ever use smithing either I guess.
All my rogues (thief, assassin etc) use alchemy as a must.
Yep. I really couldn't have said it better, though I do use smithing a bit.
you know this is why leveling alchemy is a pain for me so many ingredients so many place to find them so many combinations to try so many effects nah i always stay away from alchemy. finding potions are very easy and i only use potions of resist and health and stamina potions which are very easy to find so there is no need to level alchemy at all for me
I'm starting to understand that Alchemy can turn Skyrim into a totally different game.
The amount of combinations and effects is simply astonishing.
I using it for my current character. It's the 3rd character I used alchemy on. SInce I do not cheat, I find alchemy fun to use.
You're welcome!
Make sure to get your hands on best available Fortify Alchemy gear ASAP. Krosis is guaranteed but can be a PITA to defeat on an early level, but if I don't find any headgear with Fortify Alchemy, and don't level my enchanting quickly enough, I go for it.
Another thing I always do early on is run those little errands for the different alchemists (deliver frost salts to Arcadia in Whiterun, find out about Angeline's daughter in Solitude, deliver a potion for Bothela in Markarth) to get free ingredients from said alchemists. And other supplies. Angeline has two blue mage robes in her shop, they are free to take, and they respawn...
I use it on all my characters thus far. I have 3 character's presently that I am trying to NOT use any alchemy with.
I use it for restoration potions and enchanting/smithing potions. I also usually make some appropriate regeneration potions. A couple of characters have used it for elemental (fire, shock, cold) and magic resistance potions. Other than that, I do not do poisons or "+ Skill" potions.
Some very good advice from a master to a novice.
Krosis is a great idea, and will no doubt prove to be an exciting challenge early in the game. Well... we'll see how exciting it is after the 78th death.
So I should also enchant? It seems like enchanting is the way to go rather than commit suicide early in the game with Krosis.
(BTW, that's one truly gorgeous Dunmer) .....
