Do you use Lydia still?

She cramps my style too much; I like to sneak up on stuff.

I dumped her first chance I got a chance. If I wasn't such a goodie two shoes, I would've killed her for saying "I'm sworn to carry your burdens" one too many times.

Yeah, that sarcastic tone isn't getting very far with me...one of these days! She is good in battle though, hanging back a bit. That chap from the Companions who becomes your shield brother, he was ALWAYS jumping in front of my hammer +10 fire damage and using up its charges, a little too keen methinks...trying to make up for something?

I haven't started the main quest. So I don't even have Lydia. I have no plans to ever do the main quest so I guess I will probably never have Lydia. But I'm happy with my Aranea Ienith.

Don't join the Imperial Legion, then. You have to start the main quest in order to progress the IL questline past a certain point.

I took Lydia out once to Shearpoint after I became obsessed with finding out what goodies were there and dying many, many times. She and I had a close battle with a dragon but we both survived, then I wanted to try and sneak up on the other npc there, she charged into battle and didn't make it. I thought about reloading a save but I'd fought the dragon so many times, I couldn't do it. Plus as you guys mentioned, I didn't care for her tone.

Never used Lydia, just Sven.

Slightly off-topic, but (in large letters so people will see it) does anyone know how to pronounce Sven's name?

It's driving me crazy. I'm sure the issue lies in my basic language comprehension skills, but I tend to just call him "Steve" these days.

She seems to be dying a lot more now, may have to change soon.

Follower stats DO NOT upgrade as they level with you. So your Lydia still has 150 hitpoints, 20 something weapon skills, etc. Once I ran the commands to fix her, she became much stronger.

Please see this thread:

No she died I had her until I completed the Main quest and went to save a goat and I used Skyrim lightning to kill a giant which also killed Lydia and my horse :(

The goat was not worth it.

But...that just sounds odd. The "S" and the "V" don't naturally go together, but maybe I'm just an idiot. I assumed that they combined to form some other phonetic.

EDIT: Thanks for the vid. Maybe if I was European...

Alrighty, enough about the "She can't die unless you kill her" bullcrap. I've went through two Lydia's (one on each of my characters) and they've both died in combat. Not kneeling on the ground, but flat out dead. First time was from a Hagraven putting a fireball in her face. I was using a bow, and aiming completely AWAY from her. She died for good. The second time she ran ahead (Dear lord the AI on these companions...) and got herself DECAPITATED by a Draugr Deathlord. Yes, Lydia's head was rolling on the floor.

She's still with me and I just had a scare because while fighting a Frost Dragon, I heard her say something about how it's not supposed to end like this. I loaded up Healing Hands, found her and healed her and then went back to fighting the dragon. Close call. She's great and fights with everything she has or that I've given her.

Nope. Ice troll wasted her.

I use Annekke "something or another".... She is less annoying and seems (probably an illusion) to be a more effective fighter.

I journeyed with Lydia for a long while, but because of her http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Lydia she was getting increasingly ineffective. Eventually I ordered her to watch over my house in Whiterun and set to travel alone. I met Borgakh Steel Heart shortly after and had her help me out clear Meridia's Temple. She's now my new companion, and more powerful and reliable than Lydia ever was.

No. I don't like Lydia, so I decided to use the console to lock her in the attic of Breezehome.

Companions only get in the way. Being a stealth-based character, I can't risk the mistakes they make by wandering into traps, or into the open to be seen. Lydia acts as my junk mule, when I get to Whiterun and the stores are closed, I give all the things I want to sell to her, and return to wherever I came from.

I would still use her, but she got killed in Alftand. Of all the random things to kill her (she'd participated in the slaying of at least 3 dragons plus countless other undead and trolls and bears, etc.) she was swarmed by a Falmer mob that actually chopped her to her knees and kept going till she was no more. I was a little sad, but more perturbed as I had to slow walk 900 pounds out of the lower levels of the dungeon.

I've had Lydia for a LONG time. She's essentially invincible unless you finish her, so I don't think I'm going to lose her unless I want to lose her.

At first, I didn't think she'd be very useful, with my being a pure melee, heavy-armor orc warrior, but her bow is damned useful in dragon battles, and I rarely, if ever, hit her in melee combat.

rly? she wont stay out of my way lol
