Do you use an overhaul?

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2011 5:08 am

I'm making a mod that involves including different leveled NPCs, and I'm looking to see roughly how many people use a major overhaul. I'm not going to make a poll because they're limited in choices, but I'm curious to see how many people here actually use them.

Note by overhaul I mean a leveling overhaul, that is FCOM, OOO, MMM, TIE, WAC etc.

Thanks guys.

My game is built on Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul right now, though I'm debating about switching to TIE for my next character.

I just couldn't stomach everything being scaled to my level in this game. Ruins the sense of progression.

Same here. I'm going to finish this OOO run and give TIE a shot.

I've never tried/used an overhaul, I may be the minority that's satisfied with vanilla. At some point in the future however, I will try TIE.

I don't use an overhaul either. Never have. I might try TIE at some point, but that's the only one I would consider using.

TIE. I don't like how other major overhauls often force low quality meshes and textures on me or are not lore friendly enough.

I'm curious about TIE or ROM, but OOO seems to be more standard and more fully featured. Oscuro's adds some cool quests and other stuff beyond just rule changes, so right I'm using OOO+MMM. Other than less resource demand, what are the perks of TIE/ROM?

I tried TIE and liked it, but the progression of my abilities was too slow for the gaming time that I had available. I then tried FRAN (no extra objects or creatures) and found it perfect for my needs. The result is fairly natural - neither too hard or too easy.

I played vanilla for the longest time, and recently decided to try FCOM. I like both, so I'll probably stick with FCOM for a good long while. I really like MMM, so I'll at least keep that if I do go back to vanilla. TIE seems interesting, but of course not with FCOM.

Nay. No major overhaul for me. I've not yet had a burning desire for one. I've only recently taken my first tentative steps toward 'game-mechanic-altering mods, adding Duke Patrick's Combat Archery and Enhanced Economy. I'm thinking on another few (?) 'realism' and /or 'immersion' type mods, but question their value this far in to my play-through, which stands at well over one-thousand hours.

Now my NEXT play-through might well be different. I'm thinking to add a good many 'realism' mods for that, maybe or maybe not centered around a major overhaul of some sort. That said, my current play-through is still going strong. I feel it has much more life left in it ere the end.

No overhauls here, though I imagine I'll try to do some FCOM thing in the future. I use MMM, but I just wanted to note that it is not an overhaul! hehe

Playing FCOM for the first time. Usually did an OOO+MMM install before this, but with the new (new to me anyway) FCOM 'guide' out http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:FCOM_Installation_Guide, I figured what the hell. Best thing I've ever done to my Oblivion install tbh. I played for around three hours with no crashes too, so it seems pretty stable.

I was a big TIE guy even before I inherited the project. Frans is also a good one, and both together are actually quite enjoyable without making a huge number of all-invasive drastic changes.

I've never used an overhaul. They either make changes that deviate too much from the lore, or some of their interpretations don't suit my tastes.

No overhaul here.

Any minor attribute/skill concerns about how my character levels are easily addressed by the command console.

I average 20 hours of play per level and cap my character at 20, so the world levels nice and slow/natural for me. At level 20, I still see a nice mix of enemies and armors and weapons.

I played Fran for quite a while, then switched to a full FCOM install for quite a while. Both were fun. I've been playing OWCND+WAC for the last few weeks. It's a lot of fun, too. I'd rate it even with FCOM, though certainly different. For me, it plays better with my mod setup, so I'm preferring this latest overhaul. I do occasionally miss some of the MMM features I got used to.

Just for leveling, though: OblivionXP. I can't remember why I ever switched to it from nGCD, but I don't see myself using a leveling system other than ObXP for the rest of my oblivion playing (unless I wind up playing this game for years beyond the release of Skyrim. It could happen; I played Morrowind for quite a long time).
