Do you use power armor in Fallout: New Vegas?

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 12:46 am

For one reason or another I never use power armor in FNV. Mostly because it doesn't suit the characters I create and I hate the reduced movement speed.

So are you or are you not a power armor user?

I hardly ever use it anymore. I play on hardcoe therefore I can't afford to be carrying around armour I don't need instead of precious ammo.

Same, I've died more in PA than without it.
It gives a false impression of invulnerability that makes you think DT is actually any good...

Then wham most of the critters bite through most of it, late game NPC's bite through it, and anyone else just pours enough firepower down to shred your health anyway.
Speed and agility combined with perks that boost the chance of killing first are far better imo.

That and it makes my perfectly toned butt look chunky.

I've never used it. I saw pictures of it from NV & FO3 and I don't like the look - in particular I don't like wearing helmets. I don't even put companions in it. Doesn't seem worth the extra 2 or 8 or 10 DT (vs. combat armors say) for me.

 Stop it, you're killing me.

Regarding the helmets, it looks so wierd when you put on a helmet w/o power armor, your head looks huge. Does anyone else notice this or is it just me?

I'm using the one with the fan on the back *dodges spoilers* currently. It's pretty cool to have a DT in the high 40ies, but the slooooow running speed is a bore.

Never used it in New Vegas, or Fallout 3.

While it may not chaff my loins like leather armor does (YOU try walking the damn desert in black leather without getting heat rash down there :stare:) but honestly, I'm sick of power armor at this point. Beyond collecting it and putting it in my suite, I never use it save maybe the final battle at Hoover.

Yes but I don't go out of my way to get it. Advanced PA is the best but takes alot of time to get.

I can't help but use it for roleplay reasons (BOS paladin) and I can't resist wearing the APA you get from Arcade's quest. I don't wear the helmet though.

I have two ranks of Toughness, and the NEMEAN implant for a base DT of 10 when naked, add 32 with my Remnants PA and Ranger Helmet. Yeah, I SOUND tough, huh? Is that the case? No. Pretty much everything from Giant Rats to Lakelurks can negate my DT, melee is way too strong.

if ONLY they could remove the runspeed malus... even if it's minor, it's still annoying enough to stop me wearing them.

I didn't use it. I like the helmet but the body armor looks cheesy to me. Plus its just too big and chunky when I'm a sneak character. A light power armor may be nice, I switch weapons to get an advantage over enemies, but hate changing armors. Prefer just going at it with whatever I got on, then repairing it.

i usually wear PA. increased protection and rad resistant. it is the last which i use it more often than the recon armor. don't have to carry a rad suit around.

I only used it for one playthrough. Seemed out of character and overpowered. Generally I stick w/ reinforced leather armor, though last playthrough I wore van graff black combat armor. I always play on very hard/hardcoe so I guess I like getting the wind knocked out of me.

Yes I do, mainly for the rad resistance and STR boost.

Power Armor was great in FO3 but it seems useless in NV mainly because it's hard to find and it just doesn't look cool.

I don't bother. Medium-weight combat armor(s) are more than adequate imo. Usually only wear them for actual encounters, something light-weight (bounty hunter duster or reinforced leather ;) ) for touring around.

I do not normally use it because I prefer to be more nimble.

The only time I did use it was at the battle for Hoover Dam and I didn't put the helmet on. I think it helped me get through all the Legionairies because I took less damage.

It was more useless in FO3, thanks to the absence of DT.

i use a combination of power armor and Bomers flight suit + boones hat+ sunglasses. i use my outfit for runing around and as soon as i hit combat i throw on my power armor. but the only power armor i like is the T-45d. i hate the T-51b because of the giant wheel on the back and the helmet looks dum. i also dont like the Remenant armor because the neck area is GIGANTIC and the fan on the back has an orange glow which looks dum too.
