I'm not this blatantly mean most of the time but those RPers are stupid. Want the character to have died at the end? Delete the save file and say he died. Hell, you are already pretending that your character and all the NPCs are actual people so why not just pretend he died? It is not that hard.
Here's a revolutionary idea: how about the people who want to sandbox just save before finishing the MQ and play with that game?
No? You don't
want to do that? Well then, spare a fecking thought for those of us who want a more climactic ending before you tell us to jam our fingers in our ears, close our eyes and sing over the ending of the game.
If I wanted to pretend how things actually played out for my character I wouldn't even bother finishing the fecking MQ.
YES. i want to keep on playing,Looting,,stealing,,,breaking into ppls homes,,loot hunting in ruins,,,killing gaints woot, geting randomly generated quests,,,etc,,,etc
You can do all of that before finishing the MQ, and yet you would rather have a lame ending so that you can have your cake and eat it too?
for the ppl that voted NO go play dragon age ull love it ,,,it ends....
I have already played and loved DA:O, but thanks for the suggestion. Shall we continue with the discussion properly now?
Ten people wanted to stop after the main quest? Why? lol
Congratulations on reading the thread! Please, stay here for as long as you like. You're really contributing to the community.
lol... I will never understand what could spur a person to believe this is a worthwhile poll.
"Hey guyz - wud u like to see an ES 6?"...
Do you play as the protagonist of Arena in Daggerfall? No. Do you play as the protagonist of Daggerfall in Morrowind? No. Do you play as the Nerevarine in Oblivion? No. Is the Champion of Cyrodiil the protagonist of Skyrim? No. Will our Dovahkiin be the protagonist of TES:VI? Looking back, most likely not.
Just because the protagonist dies in a game doesn't mean that sequels can never happen.
If you're just providing examples of worthless polls then welcome to the forums. Also, this isn't a pointless topic. Read the thread and you'll see.
It's a very weird thing, I admit, but it's a weird and fun thing. Most games don't make after the end fun. ('cause the MQ and quests were where all your challenge came from) So in most games I don't mind if they don't let me play after the end. (but I would want a new-game+) In gamesas games though, their world design makes after the end a fun experience, and thus I consider it a plus to the product. And gamesas endings have always been lackluster anyway. I mean, the ending of Morrowind amounts to stab a heart, Akulakhan falls into a volcano and crazy daedra lady talks to you as you stumble out of a dwemer ruin. I don't think not letting us play after the end will get them to really improve on this particular aspect.
So... essentially you don't want the game to end? Because that's a very different issue to just being able to play until you get bored, and almost impossible to pull off well. All games stop being played eventually. Under your system games would simply peter out after a while. I want to go Sergeant Johnson on my characters and send them out with a bang. Both instances end up the same way, but yours svcks all of the drama out of your exploits before the finish line.
It's not very climatic at all, the ending is hurt. (not by much though, gamesas endings would be lack-luster no matter what) With this particular company and their products though, I'll let it slide.
So you acknowledge that BGS games' endings are lame, and yet you wouldn't see them make any move to change that? Does the narrative mean nothing to you?
Whoever says continuing after the ending is the point of TES is crazy. Why would that be the point to any game series? I mean, doesn't being worthy of pointeness imply it's a major selling point? After the end playability is kind of a nice niche thingy really. It's not something most games do well, so it's good to have at least one series that consistently does it well.
But the TES series doesn't do it well...
