Do you want Dremora to appear in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Apr 28, 2011 2:30 pm

The reason for the change in appearance was mostly due to the way they were handled in either game. In Morrowind they were more of a unique character model, similar to other monsters. In Oblivion they were actually a custom race so they used FaceGen which was good for adding uniqueness to various NPCs but well..fairly ugly most of the time! :P In Skyrim, it depends on which method they use but so far the characters I have seen in the GI screenshots look fairly nice. Either way I think they will look good.

They don't have to be as common as Oblivion for obvious reasons but they should be able to be summoned! They are sort of my ideal daedric summon.

Well they will certainly have a new look in Skyrim but personally I like the look of dremora and daedric armor better in Oblivion than in Morrowind. Also, Xivilai look sweet in Oblivion.

I guess I'm one of the minory that don't want demons and ghosts and undeads in the game... there are plenty of creatures already, aren't there? Also, a new expansion like shivering isles, or even better, is certainly wanted~

Daedra aren't demons... Also, why wouldn't you want the unique daedra and have undead in the game. I mean, necromancy and earthbound spirits are a great thing for any fantasy game and it takes a nice role in TES, such as guardians for Dunmer tombs or accidental summonings that fill the cave of the summoner that summoned them and keeps him trapped there until a fellow mages guild member comes to find him.

I really really hope there are daedric ruins. I don't think I would want them to be frost oriented though because when I think dremora I think a lava demon type thing. I hope they have frost atronaches though. Thell fit in very well.

I'm not sure how many daedra we're likely to see since the barriers between Tamriel and Oblivion have been strengthened. If dremora fit into the world, I'll be happy to see them, but I can't say the dremora are on my list of "wants."

I can't imagine they won't have Dremora in TESV. I have to agree with the people who think there are at least several relatively major differences between TESIII and TESIV versions of Dremora. I mean I can tell that they're supposed to be the same thing.

Although, I think the Skyrim versions of Dremora should be somehow unique in their own light. That's what I like about TES games; there are countless common threads and themes, but each installment is also unique in a myriad of ways.

I liked how they became a pile of ash when they died in Morrowind.

But I'd like to see them in Skyrim, for sure.

I'd like to see a darker, scarier style of Dremora.

I agree. And It would be awesome to have a cut scene were a dremora stabs a sword through a person or something like that.

I think it's time to give the dremora a break and introduce new daedroth and the not so commonly seen daedroth. They're practically the most used daedroth, and deserve some resting time.

...Daedra aren't demons...

Actually that's not entirely true. They are considered demons just not in the Christian sense. In fact they are actually called demons at times:

"Did I'ric tell you of the Daedra?"
"The demons? No. Is it a demon makes me do such things? I am evil, then."
"No, you are not. But the daedra feed on actions such as that. They--encourage them. And your anger draws them. But they can't make you do anything. And they or it's not inside you. But it is connected to you."
"I don't want it. I want it to go away. How can I make it go away?"
"Why don't you want it? You draw power from it. That's what let you shield us both wit the rats attacked."
"Mana? That doesn't come from demons."
"No, but the ability to use it can. Look, some of your deeds feed the daedra. But you draw power from it at the same time. Then the power's yours, to use as you choose."

Yea that makes sense, I figure other Daedra have more influence in Skyrim so this will most likely be the case. I would assume we'll see something from Hircine at the very least

Of course I want dremora in the game. What style? Well, both of them are pretty equal, IMO. So I don't care if they go with something new or re-use old stuff.

I'm hoping for a more unique Dremora in Skyrim, but if they're looking for a game to model them from I would choose MW of OB.

More importantly, I agree that there should be lots, lots more kinds of Daedra (although certainly not more of them walking around). OB had, what, three kinds? Dremoras, Scamps, and Clannfears right? Not counting the atronach guys of course. At least bring the Ogrim back, I think they would fit in nicely in Skyrim.

Something new and fresh I guess. I don't know, I really never cared much about these "demonic" appearances. In Morrowind they made sense as rare shrine guardians etc, but in Oblivion they were so frequent I just became bored. Also, give them detect life as normal capability. I did all the Aid for Bruma quests at maximum difficulty without a single fight due to invisibility. Had to, because a single spell hit would insta kill me :P It really felt bad exploiting the game like that...

It's not up for debate. They will be new, and improved. Better engine means better faces, and more detail. I think they will be scarier.

But I only want them to show if I summon them.... They're worse than scamps. Annoying bastards.

Why do you keep talking about armor? Armor has nothing to do with it. Shut up about armor. Nobody cares if the armor looks different, since this thread has nothing to do with armor. Skin different? So what. Put a different mesh on. The head was just poorly modeled. In fact,
http://images.uesp.net//5/5f/MW-creature-Dremora.jpg
http://images.uesp.net//5/5a/OB-npc-Kathutet.jpg
The heads aren't even THAT different.

Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah, you're right, if we don't count the armor, the facial form, the facial texture etc, then yes they look very similar indeed.

/sarcasm

Yes, they look THAT different.

The armor is part of what makes them look badass, so yeah, the armor counts.

Yes, but not every single Dremora should be hostile. Perhaps meet one who still mourns the loss of Morrowind (it's not rare for them to be servants of the Tribunal)
