Do you want Fallout 4 to be T-rated?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:43 pm

Power armor isn't space armor either, but I'll still be calling it space armor.

Call him what you will, I see a pirate.

(Redcoats do have similar aesthetics to the traditional depiction of a pirate captain)

No. Id prefer an "over 40!" rating though. And a full animated version of the Dean Martin show at the sands. That ought to cause some controversy and some free publicity.

Last time we got a cowboy ghoul.

This one is therefore a pirate ghoul.

Next on the list is ninja ghoul.

Baggy clothes or skin-tight suit? Cause I'd rather we get the latter.

Kids turn 18 every day. But that T rating would stick forever. No thank you.

Nope. I like the mature elements of the Fallout universe. The immature elements, too.

I'd prefer it be AO, but that's the kiss of death, retailers won't touch an AO game.

But hey, that's what mods are for.

FO4 will get a M for violence and sadly play it PG when it comes to advlt subject matter.

Yeeeaaaaah, this guy seems to be bored and likes making polls. Even when they're silly.

re: the pirate/redcoat. What's the problem with that? Either one is appropriate thematically with the area (port city / Boston). And I can think of all sorts of reasons, starting with "he runs a shop/bar/whatever and picked that theme to attract customers." Or, he was a history nut before the bombs hit, and now that he's an immortal burned-up freak, his mind's a little cracked, so he dresses up in an odd costume. How exactly is there a problem here? (I know, I know. The "it all svcks" brigade has to find some way to twist every single screenshot they see into a complaint about how Everything Is Ruined鈩?)

No way, would prefer if it was considerably darker and more advlt than the other fallouts. You lose artistic integrity and overall substance trying to keep things under a certain rating IMO. Fallout is a darkly themed series and should stay that way.

What does it matter? It's not like underage kids aren't going to play anyways. Plus, you don't have to be 17+ to access this part of the site. By the way it's hillarious that companies consider 17 to be a mature age.

No, though I don't care about the rating. The devs make the game they want to make and it will get the rating that it gets. But I will never be happy about developers sacrificing their vision in order to alter the rating of a game.

Hell no! Why should I care about some random kid's enjoyment? They are going to be of age in a few years and I will still have a kookie kiddie game.

I have zero desire to do anything that lets kids play a Fallout or TES game.

I prefer my post apocalyptia to be as dark and unnerving as possible. It's a world with slavers, raiders, mass murder, deranged psychopaths, and drug addled lunatics. No part of this screams "ok for kids". It's a mature series for a reason, no need to have the twelve year olds join us on this outing.

The very core of Fallout is littered with mature themes. Making Fallout T-rated would not mean sacrificing some content, it would mean sacrificing everything. It is supposed to be VERY mature.

Previous Fallouts were rated here in the old world advlts only, it should stay that.

Ha, true, people between the ages of 13 and 23 should not be allowed to play, they're the only ones who might be influenced in some way to go crazy and shoot up a school or whatever, little kids and advlts are all good.

There's nothing inherently wrong with T-rated games (I've played all sorts of well-done ones).

That said, the primary importance is providing the proper atmosphere/etc for a game's setting - in this case, post-apocalypse/struggle/etc. While this could possibly be done at a T rating, it's much easier to do it at M.

(That said, I'd never want it to go so painfully/realistically gory & nasty that I wouldn't play it any more. Fallout 3's level of comical gore is just fine, though.)

The people who rate games are not elected so there opinion of what is appropriate isn't necessarily reflected by the general public. The rating system is a joke at best and a conspiracy to restrict freedom of speech at worst. I like to consume my art mediums free of outside influence. So if less people can play the game to keep it true to its original vision rate it M.

The gore is too over the top IMO and actually breaks immersion for me so I always turn it off anyway. The six scenes are always 'fade to black' as they should be. I think teen rating would be fine, but I know others just gotta have their unrealistic gore fest and as long as I can turn that off I really don't care.

More so than gore or six I just want dark advlt themes that are inappropriate for teens, and yes also violence, but realistic violence, which for the record is far from "t-rated". Real violence can get a little gory. When you shoot someone in the head blood and brains spew out, not coins or hit points.

Of course not. All Fallout games (that count) have been rated M; and should continue to be so. However... it does matter why they were rated M. It would be a shame if they devised it such that one event or minor aspect allowed them an M rating that was otherwise undeserved.

I recall that in the real Transformers movie, they included a single swear word for the single purpose of forcing the theaters not to play the film as a matinee; and so ensure that more than just six year olds went to see the film.
