Do you want/have kids?

Post » Fri Aug 21, 2009 7:03 pm

Another thing I like to ponder about not having kids: If you don't have children, you have failed to do something that no one in your direct ancestry has failed to do for the last BILLION YEARS (or longer, depending on your definition of "having kids). Not that it really MATTERS, but it's fun to think about.

Yeah, knowing that my family name ends with me is kind of weird.

Nah, I don't want kids. All the money you'd have to spend on their cages and little water bottles, and those wheels they love running in all the time. Just don't think I could afford it.

Cages?! The hell? Yeah, you uh, you shouldn't have kids..
Anyway..
I do want a kid, for sure. Possibly two. But the hard part is finding a woman who wants kids as well. I have many woman I could be with, but at this point in my life, I'm looking for something solid and I'm looking for someone who I will spend a long long time with. I've done the whole high school party-your-socks-off-and-meet-girls'n'stuff thing, it was fun in high school, not really anymore.
Looking for some stability. But no girls want stability. All the girls around here just want to party, get drunk, and be with a new guy every other weekend. It's sad, really.

Do you have kids? If so, tell me about them. :)

If you don't have them, do you want them?

I'm feeling very broody at the moment and would like to hear people's opinions on this. Particularly those who don't want children. :)

Yes, two daughters, 1 at uni, 1 at school
Wonderful creatures but very expensive

I have a 2 year old daughter named Isabella. No more for us, 1 pain in the butt is enough. I wanted a daughter because I thought they are less trouble than boys, I was very wrong.

Nope, don't want one and I don't like kids really. That and I don't care if my family line ends with me especially when there are others to futher it and there is enough people around for me to tolerate as it is.

In fact everytime I am in a crowded place I think about people actually using condems and the like.

Maybe someday, but not for a very long time. Only after I get out of college and get a stable, well paying job will I consider having a kid, so probably not until I'm at least 30-35. Currently I only see kids as a huge expense that I wont stop paying for for decades, and that's not very appealing to me. I do kind of want one though. Another thing that scares me is my future wife getting pregnant with us expecting one kid, and she turns out to be pregnant with, god forbid, twins, or triplets or more. That would be a nightmare on my wallet.

I have no children, nor do I plan on adopting any. I dislike children in general, and feel that I would make a bad parent. I don't even want to think of the possibility of passing on these lowsy genes, but there's no risk of that happening. It's not that I don't wish to have some quality time with the opposite six, mind you, but I seem to have awful luck with women, if at all. Good thing I don't believe in luck.

I don't see the charm in the little buggers. Screaming, smelly little gooye things that turn out to screaming, naysaying headachers and then into troublesome teens and finally into meddling advlts wanting to put you in a home (then again, given my financial status and possibility that it would be the same for them, I don't think I'd have the luxury of being pampered in one of our state's fine mismanaged, understaffed establishments of elderly incarceration...)

I really don't get all these people saying they hate children. I mean, its like saying you hate advlts. They're not all the same.

Putting CHILDREN!! in my care isn't a very good idea. Interpret that however. I also don't really have much sense of "family" and I'm really lazy.

The only chance I'll ever have kids is if I get really bored sitting on my mountain of wealth.

DO NOT WANT. :yuck:

I don't like kids, and I don't ever want to have one growing inside me. Changing diapers and catering to an ungrateful brat for over a decade is hardly the way I want to spend my time.

Only way my eggs will get fertilized is if we have test-tube baby technology, and someone else can raise it until it starts doing something interesting.

I'll stick with having pets. If worse comes to worst, I suppose adoption wouldn't be too bad, as long as it was housetrained.

Being 16, I can't really answer this question. Of course, I'd like to say that I won't ever have any children, but it seems likely that I will change my mind at some point. Well, then again, having children requires a mate, so if the current trends in my interactions with females persist, then I really won't have to worry about it.

I really hope I don't have any children for at least the next 15 years. That I am sure of.

Nah. Never did, doesn't, prolly never won't. *shrug* :) I very much admire people who decide to make themselves a life where they cannot rest when they come back home from work, but will continue to cater for other people's need till finally it's time to sleep. And love it most of the time.

I *do* mean that, I admire it. Wouldn't be able to, I love my time way too much. Besides, I would be a very crappy educator.

I hadn't though about the mooching part........and yeah, we are totally boring.

As for me, no kids and not really interested in having any right now. My career keeps me very busy and my horses and traveling/SCUBA take up all the money. But maybe some day. Right now, I just live vicariously through my friends who have kids. :)

Certainly not, I couldn't think of anything worse...

Money and attention grabbing responsibility... *shudders*

Obviously there are pluses, but even they're not worth the negatives, for me anyway.
