Do you want/have kids?

Post » Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:14 am

Do you have kids? If so, tell me about them. :)

If you don't have them, do you want them?

I'm feeling very broody at the moment and would like to hear people's opinions on this. Particularly those who don't want children. :)

I want at least one kid, I'm not sure I can explain why though. I mean, I know all the downsides, lack of sleep, noise and lots of crap (Literally). But still, I guess I want a kid because I'm a lot like a kid myself, I'm desperately holding on to my childhood to make being an advlt less boring I guess.

So yeah, I want at least one kid, not sure if I'd want more than that though, two at the most. Of course, first I'd have to con...I mean find someone to help me make one.

As much as I'd like to drive roofing nails through my testicles. Get a pet from the shelter. Just as loving, and won't wreck the car.

I want a kid at some point, not anytime soon though. Would love to have a son and teach him... well, you know, maaaan things.

I suspect a lot of people will come in this thread and say how they never want to have children, I also suspect that many of the people who do say that will, at some point, have children.

Yeah, it's like people who say they're gonna stop dating and focus on their career, they're usually married within a year or so :P

I agree. I think a lot of people genuinely think they don't until they meet someone they're going to spend the rest of their lives with and think....'I think I'd quite like to create a little person with him/her'.

I never wanted children but then my son came along and he's the best thing in the world. Becoming a father changed me and made me more responsible. However I don't want any more children as in all honesty I don't want to be the parent of a young baby again, it has a bigger impact on your life than you think it will.

I want many, many kids. Not all at once, though.

I have kids...... one biological son, who is now 24... and has his first child. :D (just recently.....) I have several children that I consider 'mine' as well. Two advlts, 34, and 32, that are my current significant other's, as well as a 17 year old son. There are also three grandchildren there, 15, 7, and 2....... From my second marriage, A daughter, now in her 20's, another daughter, 16. And a son, 14. The last three, the youngest was 4 when I married, and they have been part of my life since then. I still see both of my ex-wives on a regular basis, though the second lives a good distance away.......

I hadn't originally intended on having kids..... it just sorta worked out that way. (story of my life. :D) I wouldn't trade any of them for the world. (but, I gotta admit, I DO have homicidal tendencies once in a while......)

I will never have children. Never. Any "your opinion will change in the future" people are wrong, as they have been for years and years.

There's no way you can know that for sure, the future is always in motion and is impossible to predict, so any number of things could happen to change your mind.

I'd like 2-3 kids, but I need to actually be in a relationship, which I don't see happening anytime soon.

Yes, I theoretically could be visited and impregnated by aliens against my will. It is roughly as likely.

To explain a bit more; for one, I'm asixual, and have never been on a date or wanted to or sought out any sort of partner in my life. So it's not going to "just happen" as it does for some people. Two, I despise children as if they were the hero who foiled all my evil plots. I'll seek to wipe them out with a doomsday device sooner than I'll want to have one.

I'm only 21 and therefore don't have any kids yet, but I would like to have some kids sometime in the future, but not until I have a stable career and good relationship. It's not something I really think about though, I've got much more pressing issues to deal with at present.

I can't see myself having kids for a very long time, if any at all; and honestly I can't even see myself getting married. I'm not the family sort of person. :P

Meh i don't really have an opinion since I'm only 14  but if i were to have children i'd probably wait till i'm about 30.
So i can do all the stuff you can't do when you have a responsibility like that :).

I have a sixteen year old daughter and a fourteen year old son. My husband used to want more, he misses the kids climbing in his lap, and wanting to spend time with him. Doing things like going fishing and building things. Now since they are teenagers, he has changed his mind. We parents are only useful for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation.
Oh, and the occasional personal disaster consultation.
Thank goodness for video games, it an outlet for bonding. Lately it's been Bioshock.
My kids may aggravate me, but I would not trade them for the world.

I'm not opposed to the idea. Don't imagine I'd be very good at raising them, but you don't know until you try?
