Do you want Health to regenerate automatically?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:20 am

I'd personally like this, because it would remove the obligation to either do Restoration (which may interfere with your character build) or be a potion addict. And it wouldn't be imbalancing if it regenerated very slowly. Also, this would render impossible the exploit of hit-and-run with ridiculously long intervals. :whistling:

I never found it a problem before. I certainly wouldn't mind if it was there, but I think it's a non-issue. I mean, all you ever had to do was wait for 1 hour (the minimum) time and BAM! you're healed.

It would have to be at a very slow rate, preferably when staying still or walking.

No - I would like to see a bandaging skill instead. Stand still for 20 sec while you bandage your wounds, then your health will gradually increase.

It's annoying to do that a dozen times over in one dungeon.

I'm happy with being able to heal up when you rest. If you regenerate, even slowly, it would severely undercut the use of Restoration, and while Restoration shouldn't be required for a character it still need to be useful.

Slowly, slowly, and limited. Being knocked about a bit, but without physical damage, should not require magical intervention to fix, but a good solid hit with a blade should. Don't bother with walking/standing modifiers, because it would only heal very minor damage where slight exertion wouldn't affect it.

madness. why not get rid of health all together and make the normal gameplay a god mode instead. make it impossible to die.

besideds there are easy ways to heal without spells or potions. wait or sleep in a bed.

Regenerating health is one of the worst things to happen to FPS games. I'm glad Halo: Reach removed it.

Yes I would like that - then i wouldn't be chugging potions - also enemies would be more challenging if they were regenerating health too.

I don't mind if it is a slow regeneration - I always found it odd in Oblivion I only had to wait an hour before i was back to full health.

Restoration has more skills than just restore health so it would still be useful

That might work, and it would be better for those not using magic, but I wonder how they would animate it or if it would be animated at all.

NO!
Health regeneration would make potions, magic, and sleeping pointless and the game would be called Call of Duty V: Skyrim

Nah. We got magic all ready along with potions. Besides, if we can hold down the heal spell just like we hold down a fire spell, that basically is regeneration.

I don't know what to think of this. On the one hand, we cannot allow a health regeneration system anywhere remotely similar to what we see in today's shooter genre. On the other hand, there will be points where we do not have access to food, potions, healing spells or beds to recover and severely injured - so then PERHAPS we could have a system of slow, slight regeneration to a certain point. But I don't know... it seems too difficult to manage in a game like this.

I don't see what the problem is - resting 1 hour already negates potions, magic and sleeping

A slow regeneration is not the same as an instant fix potion however when you've finished a fight and out wandering the country it makes sense that you can heal gradually over time just as your magicka and fatigue fills up over time

My sentiments exactly. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Necromancer%27s_Amulet#Necromancer.27s_Amulet had constant effect Restore Health 1 pt. I rarely had to heal even with this small amount. Makes restoration useless.

And make potions and food items even more useless? No thanks.
Regeneration fits in a more fast paced game like Saints Row but not in an slower paced RPG game.

Well they already dumped Mysticism so maybe it wouldn't matter - however there are other Restoration spells such as absorb, fortify and cure which are useful

That has consistently been BETHESDA's fault, and not a fault with the system as a whole. It probably was just a few values that had to be changed, but someone kept screwing up. What kind of fool lets you sleep for an hour and heal to full? The rate of healing while sleeping should be based on endurance (I have no idea what it will be based off of with no attributes). If I recall correctly, sleeping for one hour in Morrowind did not heal you to full, and it DEFINITELY didn't in Daggerfall.

Restore Health 1 pt would still be too fast for naturally regenerating health.

there were enemies that regenerated health, one of which were trolls. and it svcked if you were fighting them with inferior weapons, but they weren't aweful because not EVERY enemy was like them. but I could not be able to enjoy the game if every enemy regenerated like trolls.

I really hate this idea. Why even bother with potions and restoration? This idea svcks man and just makes the game way too easy. Yeah let's just make it so you can't die :brokencomputer:
