Do you Want piecemental armour?

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:10 am

Must be a popular concern/topic/desire hmm?

It's the same op, same topic, and same mispelling of piecemeal. THat's a little more than a popular topic.

You know a huge step-up would just be MORE armor sets, we had a total of 12 armor sets in oblivion and half of them made you look like a total [censored]. Please, add a greater variety.

FYI - I didn't include any clothing or unique armors, but they all svcked as well.

If one is afraid of enchanting issues, then the solution would be small enchantment capacity for pieces of armor, and have it so that even the smallest and worthless piece of armor doesn't get +20 magicka like with the greatest piece of enchanting gear. In fact, lets have it so there may be a few pieces of armor that are great for enchanting, but not the most durable or defensive gear and such. That way daedric isn't the most hot piece of [NUMMIT] around (other than being the heaviest thing in the world)

In the case of "same thread created multiple times by multiple users," I'd be inclined to say yes.

But in this case:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1149607-piecemental-armour/

Same thread, same OP, same use of "piecemental" rather than the intended idea of "piecemeal," I'd have to say something else- like "duplicate thread," or somesuch.

And no I don't want piecemental armor. Now piecemeal armor, that I'm all for.

the solution on balancing enchanting is to nerf it in one of these ways

1: some parts hold a lot less than others.

2: wearing chameleon enchantments and similar enchantments do not stack. the highest enchantment is the one used

3: shield spells shield the armour and not the player (a pauldron with shield on it will block strikes to the shoulder better, but will not effect anything else such as shoes)

The GI screenshots lead me to believe that there are more apparel slots. If this turns out to be false, I will be disappointed.

What leads you to believe that? don't get your hopes up. I would like more equipment slots too. But I am just hoping for 10 like OB.

Yes i want piecemeal armour, maybe not in the style of every single item being different ( left foot, right foot, left glove, right glove) but definately shoulders(left and right) chest, legs, helm, gloves(both) and feet(both) + Neck, 2 rings(1 each hand) and perhaps 2 trinket/charm slots and definately cloak as well. give us the option to show our helms as well if we wish. i know theres some people who go to a great amount of trouble to show off their characters thats its a bit crappy when you have to spend most of your time with a tin can on your head.

So true actually. I really disliked that. However, characters always looked bad in OB.

I like the idea, as when you are a prisoner (yet again) and trying to make your way, you take what you can get to protect yourself. I think miss matched armour lends itself to that.

we YOU want individual armour plates. every single piece that makes up a suit of armour must be included. morrowinds armour was way to limited. i want chestplates, backplates, shirts, the leather that goes under plates but over cloths, individual boots that are seperate from greaves. those cool poncho/rag things that go around the neck and chest. socks and underwear, skirts, armoured skirts etc

seriously what game have you ever played that had that many armor slots

back on topic

i'd like pauldrons to be back,t i dont really mind if both are in the same piece

pieces for chest, head, shoulders, wrists, legs, feet and possibly back(cape?) would be fine by me.

Same thread again, I'll give the same answer again : Oblivion slots Plus one extra for shoulders, keeps modders happy, extra slot in game core mechanics, keeps the 'it was in Morrowind so of course it's perfect ' crowd happy with pauldrons, keeps the rest of us happy with the ability to wear a cloak in a frozen northern landscape where it snows lots.

The more parts the better! In Morrowind I used to wear the snowbear set with a right ice pauldron, and a right ice gauntlet, it looked cool as hell.

Yeps, this and the ability to wear clothes underneath. Though not as much as in Morrowind in which you could wear a robe over heavy armour.

No, i dont want to make an uber character by abusing enchantments, i dont want an uber character but i must enchant everything with uber inducing qualities /sarcasm/

Seriously though i want the armour system of Morrowind (because it was good, not just because it was Morrowind), but i wont be surprised if its less then the oblivion system to be honest.

That's actually a great idea - the better the armour, the less enchant. That way you have to balance how good you want the armour - but it shouldn't be a gradual decline, more like a steady rise at the start, a peak, and then a steady drop.

Although the really uber sets (like Daedric and artefacts) should be as enchantable as anything, provided that not every other Bandit wears it.

Perhaps the best balance to make everyone happy would be to include more equipment/armor/clothing slots than Oblivion had, but limit the number of enchanted items you can wear at once. Similar to limiting the number of rings one wears, say a character can only wear 8 enchanted items at once even if there are 14 equipment slots. This way we can have the visual customization without the unbalanced enchantment abuse.
