Do you want to see various types of dragons?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:54 am

What I mean is do you want all the dragons to look the same, or do you want to see different varieties? For instance, in the screenshot on the first page of the Dragon Shout hub update, we see what appears to be a wyvern type dragon. Would you like them all to look like that anatomically (clearly they should be all distinct from each other)? Or would you like to see other species/breeds like maybe the lindworm, the European dragon, or maybe even a new style of dragon by Bethesda?

Either they should all look different, or there are loads of species. I hope for the former, because I hope that there are only a limited number of dragons in Skyrim.

color isn't important, I don't mind if they're all slightly the same color, with only minor differences. However every dragon (of course if you've played for 10,000 hours this won't matter too much) should be unique in some matter. From my understanding they will have many very unique dragons.

Well I guess a better way to put it would be "Do you want them to look radically different (as in body type) or do you want them to look similar but each with their own defining characteristics". I wouldn't mind either way, if they can make one style of dragon recognizable and fearsome then that would be fine too.

Depending on how many there are I would like to see a bit of variety not sure if that is lore friendly or not but meh, I like to see a varried range keeps the game fresh I think.

There is one constraint, though: they have to have limbs or some sort of taloned wings if they don't
They just need a way of being able to scratch out their written language. That means if there are amphipteres, they have to have taloned wings and be very dexterous with their wings.

Hopefully there will be no two dragons that look the same. I mean, they don't have to use every distinct species form every culture or games such as D&D, but yeah... lots of dragons, with as much variety as possible.

Ok, I think some people are misunderstanding my poll. My question in the topic seems to go against that of in the poll.

And your poll looks like its asking if we want all dragons to be the same... and yes is winning. maybe there is some confusion with the way your thread/poll is worded/set up?

Yeah, I changed the poll question to the thread title. I wish I could have changed the thread title to the poll question, woulda been less damaging to the data, but oh well, I was not able to.

I read that the reason Asian dragons are long and serpentine is because the ancient Chinese discovered dinosaur fossils with long spinal columns.

Aquatic dragons, undead dragons....would I love to see a wide variety of them? Sure.

Do I realistically expect it? No way. Modeling and animating these beasts is probably beastly work, and I want Skyrim before next century.

Do I want various models of dragons? Yes. Yes, I do.

Am I expecting all the dragons to be based on the same model/structure? Realistically yes.

From what few concept art, in game shots we have of dragons and based on Alduin's Wall, we won't be treated with a How to Train Your Dragon variety of species. Maybe a few color variations here, longer spikes or horns there, barbed tails, difference in scars for good measures. I'm guessing at least 2 models of dragons will be used. One for the generic type and a grand one saved for Alduin.

Pretty much only two distinct "builds", like lesser and greater, or male and female, or whatever suits. Then have some varying features on them to make them slightly different. Just as we make our own characters.

Well, after checking Alduin's Wall, I think I noticed 3 different distinct body types. However, it is sort of hard to make out, so I could be wrong.

They were all pretty much the Wyvern type however (except maybe for the grand daddy) to me with different head sizes.
