I don't really mind. I wouldn't cry if they were in there, but I wouldn't go on a violent rampage if they aren't included.
I doubt I'd use tehm anyway, I'm thinking of a sword in one hand, staff in the other. :drool:

See this is good reasoning. Even if the information isn't comprehensive, describing why you want spears in this way by giving some information about them makes your voice count for something when debating.

I mean, I could expound quite a bit on why and how spears should be implemented. Just as an example though, when fighting larger monsters like giants and mammoths. Arrows will only do so much damage before you are seen, and subsequently charged. The time between your first and and last shot is short. So, you can't just pepper a giant with 20 arrows doing 1 damage. But you can hit him with 2 spears doing 10 damage. Etc.

If spears won't be in, I hope at least they can be modded in. I know, animating is hard, and so is balancing, and both would be required, but it's better than no spears at all I guess.

if you've seen the combat update on GI you can observe that they talk about one-handed skills and not about blade skills or whatever other skills.

They either use one hand or two <_<

They don't want to clutter up the skill system with useless skills when they can allow you to specialize in specific weapons with perks instead of raising your spear skill or your short sword skill. Perks do that job.

I do want spears. They add variety, they're attacking range is interesting, and they just give us something else to use. I like the way they look, too.

That said, there's probably no way they're going to add, balance, and assign a skill to spears in the roughly nine months remaining before release, so this thread isn't going to change anything. Still, I add my voice.

I want spears. I also want one-handed spears. I don't think Bethesda are going to listen to us if they're not in the game already, though.

Spears are one of the most prominent hunting weapons, especially in Norse and Celtic cultures. Hircine's always depicted wielding one! So what gives?

As combat implements, they're particularly versatile - not the easiest things to maneuver with in close quarters, but excellent at blocking and deterring your enemies. Plus, they could be thrown, so that's an added incentive to ranged fighters in the event that crossbows and throwing stars are out.

To not care would be to not vote -- or post, for that matter -- I would think.

I think the reasoning for the lack of spears (if they're not in) would be that there really isn't another weapon type I can think of that would be wielded in the same way as a spear, so the devs have to decide between a whole new set of combat animations for one weapon, or leaving them out.

as much as I would love spears, I fear they are too far gone into the combat process for our plea to have an effect, but that's just me, an eternal pessimist. However, DLC spears could be entirely possible.
