You want Spear?

Just for the record most spears in history were used with shields. I am just saying this because I want 1 handed spears.

I'll cry if they don't put spears back in solely because everyday I log onto this forum, there's at least 2 new threads begging for spears or polearms. Don't get me wrong, I like the variety, but the want for spears is out of control. I want my tantos and throwing stars back.

I want crossbows. :(

Spears are a must in a fantasy world, it was rediculous that Oblivion didn't have them.

The more different weapons the better.

Even New Vegas has spears, although they don't fit in the Fallout universe that well.

Well to me it seems like a solo adventurer possibly couldn't choose a more impractical weapon.
I might not know a lot about weapons, but if a guy with a shield and axe comes charging at me a spear is the last weapon I'd want... Not to mention two or three guys. That happens a lot in TES after all...

Of course, spears do belong in any fantasy world, so they should be included.

14 15 14 22 people are idiots. No offense.

Spears should be in because they are the simplest and some of the most effective melee weapons ever used in warfare. They're simpler to use than swords, as they require alot less training (All it takes is a step foward and thrust to kill someone); they are safer to use because they are designed to keep enemies as far away from you as possible; and they are some of the most versitle weapons, as they can be held with two hands, one hand and combined with a shield, and can even be thrown! They have been used throughout history, from the ancient Greeks to the Medieval knights. And, yes, even Vikings used spears. So they deserve to be in the next game.

Well, I never really used spears in Morrowind, so I don't really mind spears not being in the game, but if you take the look of that screenshot of the three skeletons in the gameinformer magazine, it looks like the one in the back is holding a halberd, even though you can't see the end of it. (Everyone's probably seen this already, I'm simply reminding everyone.)

C'mon, what other weapon could that be? He's holding it right near the blade. That's definitely a halberd, or a spear.

Isn't that a two-handed axe? (Granted, a halberd is more or less a long two-handed axe with a spike on the end...)

I never used spears, but I still want them in the game. The more weapon diversity, the better.

Many have debunked this as a two handed axe but the skeleton right in front is holding a two handed axe and its grip is totally different, so i hope it is an spear/pole-arm

I powerful spear has alot longer reach than a axe, and if the player is skilled in it's use he can impale any enemy before they can touch him ;)

Spears would be so great, especially with range being more of a factor in dynamic combat. If you have it positioned well, the enemy shouldn't be able to touch you.

Nah, in most games, two handed axes are never held like that; they're usually held with one hand either on the middle of the handle or down by the non-dominant hand. This guy has his hand ALL the way up by the blade.

tldr: there's another skeleton right in front of him holding a two handed axe.

How does it make you an idiot for not wanting spears in the game if they are going to stay the way they were and just constantly hit people at a range staggering them and they can never retaliate. That's broken and that's why so many people like spears so much. I personally don't like spears broken or not but if they add them in the game without them being broken like I just explained then I'm all for it. Otherwise, it just ruins the game by removing any thought or challenge from the game.

The weapon the draugr is holding looks like some sort of polearm, but it could be an axe.

Yes, I want spears - But I'm getting pretty tired about seeing the same discussion over and over again... I'm pretty sure the Devs' know exactly how we feel and creating yet another spear-thread won't change their mind about putting spears in the game (no matter how they choose) :glare:

On page 52 of the GI article, though, there's another screenshot featuring a draugr in the background, holding a weapon that by its dimensions, is definitely an axe and not a polearm (the haft is approximately the length of the draugr's torso and head vertically), and that's also being held with the right hand very close to the blade in a right-hand grip.

So I'm really not sure.

(Puts on the "Robes of Boundless Melodrama" and approaches the forum)

"I've said it before, but I will say it YET AGAIN, until we are heard, the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ygRholyh5g&feature=related should, indeed, must prevail!

If they can have throwing spears in New Vegas, the Gods themselves will frown, yes frown upon you, if we, the true and rightful masters of melee, are not allowed to at least hold one in our hands. Must we beg? Would you have us humiliate ourselves for something that is rightfully ours? Without the proper implements of war, we will never succeed in our mission". Points an accusing finger at the heavens. "Do you seek to hamstring us, before our Quest begins? Will tears move you? Or must you see our blood, shed by the very dragons you yourselves created before you see reason? Madness! Will you come to your senses only after the roads and cities of Skyrim are littered with our lifeless bodies"? Screams. "Sppeeeeaaaaaaarrrrss"!!!
