This poll is way too one sided, add more options.

I want them in game but I don't care if they aren't in either.

Yes I wast spears, it would add a lot more depth potential to combat, having to close on a spear wielding enemy

I am simply screaming for guards to have halberds. They look so "guard-esque"...

Spears = more variety = better game.

Well I'm not opposed to spears but I'm not tearing my hair out about them either. I find them boring.

It always amazes me how much people who don't care care about people knowing they don't care.

I really doubt any forum thread or poll will influence Bethesda's decision to include spears or not (which has likely already been made at this point), so it isn't as if the poll options need to be exhaustive or the results accurate.

I was not a fan of spears in Morrowind. I personally found them useless and rather lame. I was glad to see them taken away in Oblivion purely because I saw no value in their inclusion into that gameplay.

The reason that I voted for the return of the spear in Skyrim is because those parameters have changed. In Skyrim, the primary foes will be dragons. Fire breathing, high flying, scale armored dragons. I don't know how the mechanics of fighting the dragons is going to work, but I'm going to go on a whim here and assume that our swords, maces and axes just aren't going to cut it in terms of reach and striking power against a creature that's going to be flying around and clawing at us. Bows and magic are an option, but pretty limited, and in truth I feel those of us who prefer a more physical combat approach deserve a more effective weapon. So the spear is the most practical weapon available against the dragonkin.

Finally, the use of spears against dragons is a common staple in fantasy. The famous fantasy franchise Dragonlance is named henceforth.

So Devs: give us our spears. We need them.

Please, Mr. Bethesda, add spears to this game! OR ELSE!....or else I will play it knowing that it is missing an importrant weapon...and then I will pray to the Holy Nine that you will include it in ES VI....

To the people complaining about 1-handed and 2-handed weapons: There will be perks which will make you more specialized in a subset of skills. For example, if you are a warrior and you have 1-handed weapons at a high level and you take all the perks for axes and none for swords, than you will be noticeably better with axes.

I never use spears in Morrowind, but now that they don't have their own skill, and they'll just fall under two handed, I think they will be much more useful.

After i beat Hircine in Morrowind i got that spear... i had to restart and beat him again.

This thead doesn't feel right. The title basically screams at you click here vote yes and then write yes.

If you want to make a petition to convince beth to put them in-game so be it but I doubt it'll change their minds.

I beat MQ and all its expansions with a spear-armed Spellsword. Argonians and infantry armies are pointless (ha!) without them.

People who don't want spears can check the 'No, I don't' box. People who do want spears can check the 'Yes, I do' box.

Yes but two options can't even remotely show the extent of human judgments, preferences, and opinions.

I'm somwhere in the middle I want it in game it will add realism to guards, and legions of soldiers as this was a widely used weapon and a useful weapon against cavalry. But I really don't mind if it isn't in either. I want an option that can at least remotely show my opinion.

And some members are calling other members idiots simply for expressing our personal preferences.

Well, if it's a petition to get BGS to add spears to the game, there's not much use for a 'Maybe' option. Or a 'No' option for that matter. Only tons of yes'.

I don't think it was launched as a debate of the pro's and con's of spears.

There is a skill perfect for spears. We call it "two handed weapon"
