Do you want the art style to remain the same from Fallout 3

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:44 am

Basically what I mean is that a lot of items, enemies, and such looked the same in FO 3 and FO:NV. Do you want at least some type of artistic change (Iconic items like the T51-b and such withholding)

I am sure they will make the items we already know look the same. It wouldn't make any sense if they radically changed everything (again). What I would like is for them to include robots from Fallout, Fallout 2 and Tactics into the modern games, alongside the new ones.

I'd welcome a change in overall artistic style. The washed out and dull realism of the locales, the genericity of most weapons, the supermutants, the overblown 50's, etc, can all change as far as I am concerned.

Well, the 50's theme probably won't change.

Not wholesale, no. But toned down, is what I meant should happen.

If I recall correctly, Fallout 1 and 2 might have more of a somewhat futuristic yet destroyed wasteland feel. You're right though, FO3 at least had an over bearing sense of the time period on it.

Three things I would like changed:

1st: Ghouls, I want them to look and act like they do in Fallout and Fallout 2

2nd: Super Mutants, I know Obsidian did some work on trying to get them to look like they did in Fallout 2 but more needs to be done.

3rd: Vaults, I would like to have at least one Vault that is designed and looks like the ones in Fallout and Fallout 2.

New Vegas is a different thing to look at as it reused virtually the majority of FO3's art assets in the main game and DLCs.

I didn't have an issue with Bethesda's art style. I even almost loved it. I doubt many do. The fact that I've heard from new FO 1/2 players saying they got into it so easily because of 3's similar art style of the world and iconic things means they did a good job there. Excellent even.

But anything that surprises good would be nice from the next FO.

In the original Fallouts the 50's was an underlying theme, not the overarching one. When you play the games, you'll notice that there's very little "in your face" 50's there (that riddled Fallout 3) and more tones like 80's punk for one example.

Yeah, I kind of remember. Man, I gotta play those again.

I posted a reply in the Fallout 4 Suggestions thread. It basically said Tthe theme should be like fallout 3. 50's, weapons from Fallout 3, and the same wasteland feel. Just like Fallout 1 2 and 3. Then I thought some more.

Keep everything in all fallouts and ADD TO IT
And I mean stuff like the companion wheel, hardcoe mode, custom ammo, and campfires. Yet still make the game seem original and one of a kind.

I know that some people don't like Skyrim but it had the largest map than Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Make the map that size or bigger.

And Bethesda can make that kind of game. They have done it before and they will probably do it again.

the 50s theme has to go, or atleast be mitigated.

No issue with their art style. I'd rather they remodel/texture items, but keep certain things mostly the same. I actually quite like certain things like Bethesda-era Leather armor, but variants from the originals should be present as well.

Also, I agree with that the ghouls should be made more grotesque and super mutants made more individual and FO1/2-like. Even if they're some leftover East Coast muties, they should make them less homogenous and ridiculous.
