Do you want the option to be left handed?

Post » Wed Oct 21, 2009 4:41 am

I'm sure they have a reason for not doing it. It obviously has to be more than just checking a box or else it would be an option.

I would never use this feature but it would be interesting to come across a left handed bandit every now and again.

Why not.
Can't be too hard to put in the game.

I imagine it would be a lot more work than you think. Animations and what not would be affected.
Edit: Never mind people have already said this.

I think I see what you're trying to say, OP. :slap:

Generally, though, I say yes to all things that add to immersion.

I would like that very much. Not essential, but I would be grateful in having the choice to be left handed.

As extremely lefthanded i probably can live without my right arm.

So if Skyrim gives me the option to be left handed im gonna be sooo happy!

Be a nice touch and while their at it add duel wielding.

I'm left handed and doesn't annoy me to much, but still a little bit.

As a proud left handed man, I want them to do it. Just for combat. Couldn't they make a script that just flips the animations?

Or slightly different attacks while holding a weapon in the left hand? It would make it more than a superficial change.

Actually, it wouldnt really double the workload. You just mirror the animation code for first person and add a toggle under options. It was easiliy implemented in Daggerfall. You dont HAVE to do seperate animations for the character.

HOWEVER, and this is a big one, if there is sectional hit detection then they would have to toggle animations for all enemies. That more than doubles the workload. So, while it would be nice, dont get your hopes up.

Wouldnt that double the workload to include both handed attack animations? I just think its something we dont really need. Make all the animations left handed for all I care, im right handed.

This.

They should just make all the animations lefty ones. Don't include the ability to be right handed at all. We all know the left hand is the most holy thing to come around since the concept of holes.

Quoted for truth, justice and the lefty way. But seriously, I would really like it if it was more than just a superifical change, as someone else said: for example left handed swordfighters could be slightly better at disarming, paralsing, stunning etc. while right-handers could just have more brute strength.

And yes, I am a lefty :)

But of Course, us lefties have also learned to use the brutish right hand to make it in this unholy rightist world, so we could gain the advantages of both! No penalty for dual-wielding weapons!

Votes yes, although it's something I care absolutely nothing about.
Depends on the complexity to make it happen I think.
A few mirror tricks should really be enough, and warrant it.
If they need to redo too much engine work to make it happen, I say skip it, there are far more important things to worry about than this.

As for having to change all the enemy animations for their hit points. Wouldn't they just have to mirror that as well?

Don`t know much about animation, but I don't see why it would be possible to just mirror the normal animations for left handed combat.

In those games, I can experiment almost everything I don't in real life. As a righty, i'd like to know what it's like to be lefty! I love options, bring 'em on! :celebration:

If they don't make it, I'll try to make it...
