Do you want the option to be left handed?

Post » Tue Oct 20, 2009 7:07 pm

I feel us left-handers are always left out when it comes to video games. I think it is time to see our first left hand capable heroes in a game. Its not right to forget about us. Every hero in every game is right handed, damnit its time for some equality.

Why not.
Can't be too hard to put in the game.

They had the option to use either hand at any time in Daggerfall. If they can't manage this in Skyrim there's something wrong.

I don't think its even possible if they want to keep the game engine logical. Then again I know nothing about game engines.
Besides, does it really matter that much? Sure, in real combat a lefty might be able to surprise a righty with some non-standard maneuvers, but in a RPG it ends up being statistics anyway.

only in first person mode, that would be easy to do, would be worse with 3rd person.

Wouldnt that double the workload to include both handed attack animations? I just think its something we dont really need. Make all the animations left handed for all I care, im right handed.

Link - the left handed patron-saint.

Would be nice, yeah. Not expecting it, but if it's there I'll rejoice!

As a left-hander myself I agree enormously! Time for a leftist revolution to sweep over the lands and crush any rightist resistance! Yeah, a bit too much, I know. But seriously, cant be too hard to do. And it would be nice overally. ;)

Also if people don't complain about how 'that would be pointless! doesnt effect the game so why add it!' I'm gonna be a bit dissapoint.

Yes. Being right handed is the only thing that keeps TES from being the best game ever. Every time I look at that sword in the right corner of my screen I die a little inside. Besides, think of all the depth it would add too the game world!

Being left handed would require two sets of player animations, doubling the workload. Its not a matter of ticking a box :shakehead:

I don't think we need this, it's too much work (animations) for too little result.

Having multiple wield options would be better in general, one-handed two-handed left-handed right-handed.

I wouldn't mind, I also wouldn't be crushed if it wasn't an option.

If they do add the option, it would be very immersive in my oppinion if you came across a group of bandits, and one of them also happened to be left handed.
why not? It's just another step towards the perfect game that already is the elder scrolls.

Honestly. In Daggerfall I loved playing my character as left handed just to make them that much different from my real life self (me being a righty)

It would literally just mirror the animations. I've seen plenty of games have the ability to use the left hand. Unreal Tournament did it.

Double the animation workload? I don't care, Bethesda's animators could use extra practice.

They totally dumbed down the series after Daggerfall by removing the left handed weapon feature, right? ;)

Then make them do something that's actually useful like more AI related actions.

I know what question i am going to ask when they do the forum member questions. Seriously i would love that feature. All they would have to do is literally flip the animation as another user said.
