Do you want your armor to be as customizable as your guns wi

For low level characters I want to see the results to look like what happened when they tried that in [censored].

Damn, it's censored. That TV show titled with one word that starts with "Jack" and features tons of stupidity and a few movies. Yea that one!

No, not really. Three mods per weapon, it is my understanding that you can do it any number of times, maybe even on your own (repair check). In any case, it's actual customization, not just an upgrade.

I wasnt aware that multiple upgrades (customisations) would be possible for weapons so thanks, but the point i was trying to make was that Armour customisation has not yet been confirmed.
Is that correct?

The stuff in the pitt add on for FO3 definitely made me think about how much people would do to scavenged stuff. The tribal power armor is my case in point. I'd want it to be simplistic survivalist type of stuff like that. Like look at the raider armors. Nothing but scavenged stuff but the wanderer is just retarded and imaginationless??? Bullocks to that. I think it'd be kind of spiffy to be able to get schematics for custom armor as well. Like maybe a crap ton of scrapmetal, sensor modules, stealthboys and some power armor to make it stealth power armor. (that would be WAY to powerful but you know)

i voted other because i would rather have an option customise the look of my armor rather than adding things like "bullet proof plates" to my armor

although if both options were in it i wouldnt complain...

I don't know. Listeman said it was, but I never saw anything about customizing armors.

Yeah- customize helmets. Power armor helmets have optics and flashlights- these should be usable in the game. Like if you have power armor helmet and you press the light button, the light on your helmet comes on as well as the pip boy light. (helmet light has longer range than the pathetic pip light).

Perhaps another button could be used to engage night vision, for when you want light but don't want to give away your position.

So if you have a combat helmet you should be able to put optics and lights on it (originally, the combat helmet had optics but F3 removed this).

Same thing with hats, motorcycle helmets, and the like, clip lights onto them and such.

As long as I can make a Hello Kitty Power Armor suit, I am happy.

Seriously though I think armor customization would be a cool thing. The things like decals not too much, but sure it'd add a whole new layer of playability, but I would definitely like for things like bullet-proof plating, lead plating, etc. to armors BUT make it only with certain armors. There was a thread about dual weapon wielding and I agreed with it but only with handguns, not with things like assault rifles or shotguns or so (because that'd be overkill), so if they do armor customization then make things like bulletproof plating only for weaker-level armors, not for power armor or already strong armors.

I just had a thought:we should be able to make our own chinese stealth armor by sacrificing a few stealth-boys.

Voted, no because thats what the armor progress is for. Why have leather armor with mods replace Combat armor or what not. Each armor has it's pros and cons. I wouldn't mind having cosmetic changes however. Like decals or coloration options.

Would you like to be able to add in bullet proof plates into your leather armor but suffer from extra weight and other problems. Add a layer of led in your clothing to reduce the effects of radiation. Add in some flame retardent material. Would you like to be able to change the color and paterns on your armor and helms and be able to add decals.

Guns have been made more customizable why not armor too?

Hell yeah. Like in one of the Fallout 2 loading screens with the tribal wearing T-51b.

a built in com? who you gonna talk to? a better flashlight would be nice the pip boy light didnt cut it for me,
cant say i agree with decals and what not youre the only person whos going to see them and generally im always in first person mode anyways except when it shows my guy in vats,
being able to add benis to them like extra radiation protection or damage resistance to ballistic or impact would be cool, nothing to extreme though

Yah, Scourge makes a point. None of this will be implemented in New Vegas though, however it would be interesting to have some armor customization, such as making it more lightweight or resistance to bullets, but they can't go and change the appearance for each armor as a result, would get too complex, but seems simple enough to add metal plates into certain armor or reduce its weight at the cost of DR, think S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. You could have vendors like they do in that game who could customize your armor for you, maybe they would mod your weapons too or if you had a high enough repair skill or some yet un-named skill, you could do that yourself (ie longer barrels, silencers, scopes, etc).

That would be Epic! But to an extent, of course. If an object you want to put on your customizable armor isn't in your inventory or other storage area, you shouldn't be able to add it to the armor, in my opinion. For example, If you want to add (From Fallout 3) The tesla coils from the tesla armor to your power armor to make it look cool, you should have to have it stored in something, or have it in your inventory. But the idea is great I love it! XD

That..is pretty much the standard requirement of upgrading or creating custome items...

Yes, but often in games, they allow you to add random crap that you don't even have, and what's the fun in that? Really, it should be standard, but often isn't. A game won't come to my mind now, but I can think of many occasions playing games where you could just add things you don't have.

If I'm recalling that, that's usually because the upgrades are being done in a place that sells and/or manufactures those particular upgrades.

That's true also, and when you have to buy things to upgrade them, it gets annoying in my opinion. To have them in your inventory seems smarter to me, more cost effective, which would be helpfull if you could customize armor. I don't know if you or anyone else recalls this, but it takes a lot of time to get rich in Fallout 3, especialy if you buy things from scavengers, Moira Brown, or other shops. So unless caps are easier to come by, to find the object would be smarter.

I like the option of both- Either paying for the materials or supplying them yourself. Very middle of the road and doesn't force people into having to scav off if they have the caps to burn. Sometimes, you just don't want to hunt down a Micro Fusion Cell.

It seems to me it would just add to the armor progression. If you have leather armor and just have like slots or whatever for it just make them less than the combat armor so that the combat armor doesn't full on trump it but still has the possibility to. Also I think this could greatly add to the character building. You'd have to pick and choose on what upgrades to make around your playstyle. Also I think that all upgrades should be permanent, cosmetic being the exception.

I think it'd be sweet to add metal plates to a duster coat. Also being able to paint emblems and designs on your armor would be really cool.

Sure why not? It'd add even more uniqueness to the game and your character. Its always best to stand out in the wasteland. Especially if you're supposed to be some kind of big deal by the end of the game.

I wouldnt mind some customisation in the way of colour/designs onto armour, but nothing in the way of beefing it up to replace the need of finding better armour.
