Do you want your armor to be as customizable as your guns wi

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:38 pm

i would like the following:
a mine strapped to my chest so i blow up when i die

Would make sense in a multiplayer game, not in an RPG as it has no benefit, BUT in saying that would make for some pretty hilarious deaths.

I don't really get as much into the 'role play' aspect of the game so I think just a progression of armor would be fine. Start with cloth, leather, security, combat and finally powered armor. I would be happy with just 'graduating' to the next level or armor and leaving the previous ones behind. Customizing power armor end game would be fun but the rest I have no interest in messing with.

Yes, but it'd be mostly limited to appearance customization. Things like ammo bandoliers and extra reinforced armour plates would be a welcome addition, though.

Well, minor effects could come from those...
Ammo Bandolier: +20 extra ammo (refillable at your local gun shop)
Reinforced Armour Plates: +10 DR. or +5.

Yes typically it would all be a minor thing. When I thought of this I was thinking about how police officers would put ceramics under there kevlar vest.

Yeah, but I really doubt it's going to happen. They probably would have mentioned something like this if it was going to happen. I was wrong about the iron sights, so I'm hoping I'm going to be wrong about this too. If not, then there's always the next game. At the very least I want to be able to upgrade my armor to a "hardened" version like the Power Armor in the original Fallout games.

Well generally what happens is they would have a big snow ball meeting where the spit ball ideas. A couple of the people there take notes on the types of things we liked and didn't like and suggested on here and see if ole pete or whoever is listing likes it and if everyone else likes it. Then they might throw in a couple of non public disclosed test and if they think it fits along with the fallout bible and everything and they guess what the public reaction might be it goes it.

I want to be able to pull armour apart, then use the pieces to make another piece of armour.

Just imagine the possibilities!
Spoiler
The Tailor Maid mod for Fallout 3 is more or less this idea, in terms of armour being taken apart. It just lacks the bit where I pull it to pieces...

Haha! Sorry, I just had to laugh at that typo censor. But, yeah. I'd love to be able to customize the crap out of my armor.

The more customization the better. This would also allow for there to be shops/caravans that dye your clothes/armor.

customizable armor would have made a difference imho so i would love to see this in nv
(eg i get around in the voult security armor simply coz its lite, slient, and dosent take much to repair and it is unique to the wastland)

but yeah geting somthing like a trench coat or duster and than ading like kevlar to it would make it a useable thing not just for show...

Adding details to helmets and armor would be nice. I imagine it'd be like choosing preset looks for different areas of the armor in a haircut-style menu. But guns are more customizable now? How so?

you can now add scopes, silencers and different clip sizes

I want armor customizable!
Bullet proof plating is really what i was thinking, since leather isn't..

I Vote yes.

EDIT: Give your reasons for no, i already saw one no... i want to know what will be bad if they made armor like this.

I WANT armor like this. I want to see everything from adding tin-cans to leather armor to try and deflect bullets (but this would obviously be very impractical and wouldn't help much) to adding an AI system in Power Armor like the Prototype Medic Power Armor did in Fallout 3. I want you to be able to change the color, material, maybe even make it so that your armor is double-layered (would work for any armor). It might not look great, and it would slow you down, but you;d have a lot more damage protection. Maybe be able to customize Power Armor so that you are very slow, but powerful and very protected (think walking tank). Or customize Power Armor with a collar that comes up to above your chin so that your neck would be more protected (overall it'd just make you take less head damage). Maybe add more armor plating to your legs (less chance of being crippled, but you run a little bit slower). Try it!

Also I'd like to see the color and icons on all armor be fully customizable, from blood-red Leather Armor to Matte Black Power Armor, to putting a blue smiley face on your combat helmet.

I 'd like to be able to have more customizable armor. I felt like a gangster in Fo3 with Ashur's mangled-up modified armor and Reilly's Ranger armor, I'd like to be running around with Power Armor thats says "KEEP 50FT BACK" and have custom patchwork gear. I also think it would be nice to have added benefits, like finding a road-sign welding it on and have +1 DR, or an ammo pack for hardcoe!

I'd love to have a plate carrier over or under my Roving Trader Outfit. Hopefully the RTO is in this game. That was the main thing I wore in Fallout 3.

Im undecided...

I would like it, but the twos thing that are bugging me about it is, "Would it be overpowered?", and "Would I have to repair each individual upgrade?".

The first is obvious in what i mean. The second is, if you get into a fight with a raider with a gun, and you have metal plating upgrades on your leather armor, would the plate be included with the whole outfit in the condition (health bar for the outfit like in F03), or is it seperate (as in has its condition bar which you need to repair keep it effective).

EDIT: One thing i would like would be to at least have variations of hte armor, so you can add aesthetic upgrades to your armor as well, like if you want to look like a wastelander, you could add junk to your clothes like a bottlecap necklace, or other stuff that makes it your own.

Giving the unforgiving world of the waste i think we should be able to add things to our armor such as special armor plating that you could put on a piece of armor to make it a little sturdier more damage resistent and more lightweight.
