Long story short: Nvidia paid EA/Crytek $2million so the Crysis 2's DX11 will be basically custom-designed for Nvidia's new GPU. Whether or not AMD cards will even be able to play Crysis 2 in DX11 remains to be seen.

Way to sell out and piss off a lot of your customers and PC fanbase Crytek/EA. :-/

That part couldn't possibly come to pass...there's no way in hell that would be allowed, nor would it be good for gamers in general. That's why that is IMO, an impossibility. They aren't that stupid.

Indeed, also AMD owns around 70% market share of dx11 cards, 2 million wouldn't cut it. I just think crytek are running late.

I do really think, that two million of pictures of dead american presidents is not a reason for crytek to cut out all the AMD owners.
Yeah.. i know - ATI Adapters a crap. Because of always_drivers_mess.
But.. theyre cheap, and.. mostly working. And people allready got it.

I think Nvidia owners will have some advantage in FPS, nothing more.

It's not the first time games have been optimised to run on Nvidia cards..ATI cards will run it just fine is my guess...and theres nothing wrong with ATI cards atm...they trounce Nvidia in multi moniter set ups...check Tomshardware for a comparison they just did...NV do good til they get into multiple moniters and then just svck...I'm not an ati fanboy either i'm currently running 2x460's in SLI...but if I could afford 3 x24/27/30 inch monitors I certaily would'nt buy NV cards to run it.

Often times ATI will release a patch for the game to run well on their systems. I think the Same happened for Metro 2033 and Lost Planet 2. It was optimized for nVidia, but they released new drivers for their systems later.

Here's my source for the above stated comment: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crysis-2-performance-best-graphics-card-multiplayer,2901-6.html

You'll be jumping back on the Crytek bandwagon as soon as you see it rendered in DX11.

Lolz.

Does anyone noticed the nVidia logo on the back of your Crysis 2 box?

That means: nVidia pay money to the dev's, to optimize the game for nVidia hardware.

Crysis 2 isn't the first game which got money from nVidia...

Homefront - PhysiX support
Tron 2.0 - Support for nVidia hardware
Battlefield 2 / 2142 - Support for nVidia hardware (Also got money from Creative for supporting X-Ram technology with BF2142)

@SDub: I missing the GTX580 in the bench's. I don't think, that a 560Ti was ever designed to compete with AMD's high-end cards.

If you wrote it in a DX11 API it should be compatible with any card thats DX11 period, that was like one of the main objectives of DX11

I don't think the magic dx11 patch is coming guys. dx11 was removed as a feature for the game from nvidias site and is not longer even listed as a feature of the cryengine 3 on its site. Basically, don't hold your breath.

I noticed that too, I hope it's just some stupid marketing BS... But, very doubtful... At least I'm happy with the PS3 version, it looks better than other PS3 games.... But doesn't even come close to the Crysis I play on my PC.

I hope this isn't true Crytek. I had faith that they would release a kick @$$ PC patch making this game look the way it should, not the way it does now, but I'm quickly losing the faith...

Yeah, I thought that too. i mean, this is crytek. Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying the game. Graphics arn't everything, or even close to the most important in my book. But I did have tons of fun getting Crysis 1 looking amaizng and running around blowing crap up. My only regret is that I got in on the PC and no xbox ( since it looks the same, or pretty dang close) Bigger screen and working 5.1 surround would've been more fun. Though I do prefer PC shooters on the PC, this simply isn'y a PC shooter.

Those articles are from September and November. Way too long ago to be taken very seriously. Good to keep in mind, but I wouldn't call them fact as of yet esp seeing the GTX 590 has launched and still no DX11 Crysis 2.
