if you were a BOS member what league would you pick?

Ehh....you got it backwards there Styles. In Fallout 3 you are only made a Paladin after retrieving a GECK, trashing through Enclave lines (with LP leading the way of course...) and re-capturing the purifier and "sacrificing" yourself (or at least getting knocked out) by starting the purifier.

In New Vegas you are made a paladin by running a few errands for the guys...

Yeah but but Optimus does all the work so to me its for doing nothing. Do you become a knight to get the PA training from the BoS or are you made a paladin? I can't remember.

Still the Original Brotherhood just had Knights or Scribes. Which brings me back to my original question.. Paladin is a rank and a position?

Not to split hairs wih you Styles, but I think you are more made a Paladin for the whole "self-sacrifice" thing rather than following Prime into battle, even then, when charging through Enclave lines, the Player character does more work than they do for the Mojave Brotherhood (in my opinion).

Don't know about you but I was made a Paladin in New Vegas for finding a virus in a computer system and staging a coup de'tat, then killing a few guys with energy weapons (Van Graffs) with some cleaverly placed C-4.

Do you become a knight when you get the PA training from the BoS or are you made a paladin I can't remember.

They don't give you any rank when you get PA training.

I did not mean to turn it in to a debate about which game makes it harder to become a BoS. My point is the Rank they give you. They should make you the lowest possible Rank. Also Paladin is a rank not a part of the Brotherhood. There are knights and scribes. Knights do the fighting and what not and scribes deal with the writing and tech. What do Paladins do if they are an order in the brotherhood?

They should, but they won't. Mainly for sale purposes. The average player is now fully obsessed with being a god in every video game. Not only would they get angry hate mail from players saying like: "I did all this work and only got this in return? I'm still treated like a worthless dumb waster?" I don't know.

In the game this makes sense.

In reality this would anger a good 90% of people who play the game.

I would agree with this in New Vegas but not really in Fallout 3, in Fallout 3 they better be kissing your feet and serving you graqes while you sit on a comfy chair for doing all they're dirty work. :D

Well they way I understood it is this: Scribes research the tech, knights build and test the tech, Paladins use the tech in outside excursions and engagements and such (and that seems to be how it is done in the Mojave Chapter).

In the East, "Paladin" is a rank and paladins command groups of knights or lower-level paladins (I think they're called Junior Paladins or something), much like a Captain or Lieutenant would. The rank of "paladin" is earned and is not a separate "caste".

It works that way in Fallout 3 as well as in New Vegas. Fallout, its just scribes and knights. Scribes and Knights. Same as in Tactics but now Paladin has become a rank and an order which makes no sense to me.

If its still just a rank and not an order, then one can't simply become a Paladin. So it should be removed from the poll.

I guess my confusion is coming from this "since when is Paladin a cast/order in the Brotherhood?"

Well not really. Look at the Mojave Chapter, none of the Knights are wearing PA and all they do is go to their workshop each day.

In Fallout 3, knights are more footsoldiers than tech-builders.

In New Vegas (and thus the WCBOS) it is an order, in Fallout 3 (and thus the CWBOS) it is a rank.

Fallout, its just scribes and knights. Scribes and Knights.

I suppose it was (I played Fallout 3 first so I just assumed the guys with Power armor were both knights and Paladins) but I guess it was just a change/addition they made.

Yeah but that could just be because they have been in a hole so long they moved on to something else. Just because that one chapter is that way does not mean the Original BoS has three casts or that Paladin is something you can just join.

I can see how it is still just a rank in Fallout 3. It has always just been a rank.

No I suppose it doesn't, but generally we consider the Mojave chapter to be congruent with the rest of the West Coast BoS right? They're not a splinter group.

Also I think that it makes more sense for the Courier in New Vegas to just "join" the caste of Paladins because the Paladins do the fighting and engage in military actions, the courier's not really being bestowed a rank actually, he's just being given an assigned "caste".

Also didn't tactics use the rank of "Paladin"? I'm just reading it on the wiki now so Im not sure if its right or not.

Tactics has the Rank of Paladin as well.

So in the end I just New Vegas seems to have this "Paladin Cast" but its not stated there is such a thing in the game. (Or is it?)

The Mojave Chapter would not be a spliter group but they are their own branch of the Original BoS. They follow the codex closely which to me means they would stick to the Scribe, Knight system.

The Paladins in Fallout New Vegas could just be the only ones that have reached that rank and therefore should have the PA. They are not making any so it stands to reason they don't have enough for everyone. Which is how it works in the MWBoS as well.

I suppose thats true. I'm basically just going off what I read on the wiki, and the correctness of that information is subject to debate.

Maybe I am getting something mixed up but Wiki is also just a bunch of fans as well. They debate just like we do and they post their ideas.

From everything I remember Paladin is just a rank its not a cast. So that means you can't just become a Paladin.

In terms of getting the lowest Rank, that depends. If I go and collect some bottle of Nuka Cola from Settlement A, then sure, but if I walk across the country swathing a pathe of dead raiders and deathclaws, I expect to be treated as the Second Coming. Fallout 3 is an example of my rage face. I risk my ass for a G.E.C.K. in a Super Mutant breeding Vault, I single handedly destroy Raven Rock, I risk my ass further by starting Project Purity myself, then I push my way into an Enclave Satcom array, THEN I go into a deathclaw infested town alone to search for a sparking plug, and finally I bomb their mobile platform, and the best they give me is 'knight'? I'm gonna be catapulting flaming Brahmin crap at their walls until I get treated as a God King for those kind of feats.
