If you were in Cyrodiil, what would you be.

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2010 9:02 pm

So a week or so ago we were watching a mftv fantasy film.
When the topic came round to if it were real what role would you take, who would be and what would you do...
I was told I would be one of those crafty buggers, who talk alot and run off with the goods.
So in the interest of my nosy nature if Oblivion was real and you had to define yourself within its lores ( haha ), what would you end up as.

Ok, I am prone to random moods and taking most things lightly, unless they go against my personal sense of fair play.
So Bosmer on a bad day, Khajiit on a good.. Lets settle on Bosmer as I don't like the idea of taking my own preference, over what I most likely would be.

Skills my natural skills tend towards being silent and blending in so...

Sneak: woodlands or indoors I can creep and stay silent.
Speechcraft: I can charm, laugh, bluff, tell stories and talk to people with almost any interest providing I keep it general.
Alchemy: I know a fair bit about medicine and some about plants and wildlife.
Mercantile: Buying, selling and knowing how to get a deal everyone knows at least the basics.
Security: Locks, traps, tinkering and general security I have had knowledge of at some point.
Marksman: Bows, cloth slings and throwing in general not a *marksman* but I used to be a fair shot.
Last one not really sure good with pranks so maybe illusion, or h2h elsewise.

Job / class most likely given my skills a thief of some sort, a traveling fool or rpg style bard most likely.. Not a very good one though, hence the traveling part.

Attributes Luck and willpower.
Birthsign: Due to the luck that has to run out sometime story the thief is my sign, otherwise the lover.

Don't we already have a thread exactly like this? Something along the lines of "What class would you be if TES was real" or something or another.

Race: Breton - Well, we all kinda have to be a human race, or maybe Elf, but that's stretching it. I think Breton is most suited to me, with a darker skin tone and hair, ofcourse.
Class/Occupation: Tradesman - Although Im physically fit and quite capable in a HtH fight, I wouldn't last long as a Warrior, I can't cast magic, to my knowledge, I would make a good Assassin, but I don't think Im game for killing as a profession. I wouldn't want to risk combat anyway. As a player we can deal a good load of damage, and take it, but in real life, a single stab with a sword, or single fireball cast at us would be crippling. Im a good talker, and could probably make it as a trader of sorts.
Birthsign: Thief - Nothing else really made sense, it could be anything.
Favored Attributes: Agility, Personality - Like I said, Im physically fit, and can charm my way into or out of most situations.
Major Skills:

Mercantile - I've always been good at 'Economics' and 'Business' in school. I've been told I would make a good salesman before.
Speechcraft - Im fairly good at talking, I do it all the time. :P Seriously though, Im pretty like-able, I don't have any enemies, and Im in high-school, that's saying something.
Sneak - Im just good at it.
Athletics - Once again, just fitness here.
Hand to Hand - I practice martial arts.
Acrobatics - I practice parkour too.
Marksman - I have a good eye, Im a decent shoot with a gun, I don't know how well that translates into bows though.

I know, this confuses me, too. There seems to be multiple threads on just about any topic here. Nobody seems to mind if threads don't get revived.

On-topic: I would probably be a non-adventurer in Cyrodiil, maybe a beggar or a shopkeeper. Literally, I would leave the sewers, walk up to the Imperial City, and never leave! I'm a wimp in real-life, you see. I could perhaps take on a mud crab if I had to, but anything else would scare the crap out of me!

Right! Dude if I saw an Oblivion gate in real-life, I'd seriously just fall over and faint! Then I'd run like hell! Everyone would be expecting ME to deliver the Amulet, save the world (bla bla bla). Meanwhile, I'd be cozied up in Luther Broad's Boarding House, living off apples, lettuce, and ale, and reading the latest trash from Allesia Ottus

Imagine meeting Lachance.

I'd probrably wouldn't get a word out and just stare blankly and dash across to the other side of the room from him thinking he was trying to [censored] me or something.

Birth Sign: Not sure, guess it depends on your actual birthday, April 28, makes me a taurus- like to know the equivalent
Race: Not sure, imperial, breton, or something.

Attributes:

Agility- I'm always light on my step and always catch myself if I trip.
Intelligence- I'm not a good listener but if I actually want to learn something I learn it.

Light armor- I wear leather boots all the time so it should lvl up :P
Athletics- I'm good at running away.
Acrobatics- I like climbing not sure if that counts.
Alchemy- I like to cook and pretty decent good at it :D
Destruction- I like fire crackers and bottle rockets and explosions, love to jimmy rigg wicks together and mix gunpowder and such-nuff said
Security- Thought about it and I'm pretty good at opening things and getting into things I'm not supposed to, at my job we open huge containers and I have to rely on a series of bolt cutters, razors and good ol' elbow grease. I also have some homemade picks and a rake pick plus a nice little tension tab for opening locks, I practice with it sometimes on my own doors. Also love using that credit card trick.
Armorer- I guess I'm decent at putting things back together, always fun to see how things work.

Love how everyone thinks there a good marksman.

This is simple, I would be what I am IRL: a Witch.

If I got to pick a race other than the round-ear I am IRL, it would be Bosmer, as they seem most nature-friendly.

For skills, all the magic ones, plus sneak.

For birthsign, IRL I am born under the Tower. If I got to pick, it would probably be The Lady.

As far as making a living, I would probably work as an alchemist, or perhaps making scrolls or other minor magic items.

My job as an advertising shooter requires me to nail the perfect shot. I would be a marksman. I'm good in the woods too, so to speak, and know how to defend myself.

 Honestly I would either still be in goal, or be put back in as soon as I entered a city...
"whats this sonny?, oh the emperor gave it to you riiiightt I believe you".

Edit: I did search just not very well it seems, I tried all oblivion forums an TES general with the words in this topic, and betrayers...
Next time i'll scroll through more pages I guess.

Imagine meeting Lachance.

I would cry. I would just stand there and bawl! :( Then I'd run like hell. Um. And then, I would go to my pal Luther Broad and have him serve me coffee all nite so I wouldnt' fall back asleep. Heh, that's just like in Nitemare on Elm street. Oh drats no coffee in Oblivion. Okay, ale then.

But on days when I wasn't terrified, I think I'd live off of all that FREE RESPAWNING FOOD that's always sitting up on the 2nd floor of the Tiber Septim Hotel! Nummies.

Oh, and I would give the Amulet to an Imperial Guard (after making sure I got him on "my side" first) and I'd say "uh, you mind taking this to Weynon Priory for me? I hurt my toe the other day"....

So therefore, so far I know for sure I'd have 2 skills: Atheletics and Speechcraft. I'd sure be doing lots of running and lots of gabbing. :D

I chose my skills based off my rl interests.

Writing - speechcraft
Computers - armorer, security
Cooking - alchemy
Dancing - acrobatics, illusion, light armor

I was born in October, which corresponds to Frostfall, which means I'd be born under The Tower.

I'd live in Cheydinhal and join the Mages Guild.

Can't decide on race.

Who would voluntarely become a beggar??!? I don't understand it, seriously...

If it were in Cyrodiil...? hmm..I've sort of military vocation, but I can't stand the Empire, so the Legion is out for me. I'd then probably be a Nord or a Redguard sailor (captain of my own ship)/merchant/explorer/adventurer, and I'd delight on travelling into unexplored places (Thras, Pyandonea, the remains of Yokuda...). I'd adquire all kind of rare items and ingredients, and either keep them or sell them. I'd be pretty wealthy because of that, but I'd live humbly, my main passion always being the next exploration trip into the unknown.

It's actualy a hobby of mine to try and determine what race people would be if they lived in Tamriel. At work there are three imperials, one bosmer, six bretons, two nords, one altmer and one guy who I can't decide is either a talkative breton or a flamboyant imperial. As for my own race, I think I'd be a breton. I'm kind of big like a nord and I'd much rather be cold than hot but I'm not very tall and I'm kind of quite. I also like to think that I'm somewhat smart so I think I'll stick with breton. As for my skills:

Specialty:
-Magic - I'm no good in a fight so combat's out of the question (If a bandit attacked me I'd probably curl into a ball and svck my thumb) and I'm not agile so there goes stealth. I do think I'm at least somewhat smart so magic it is.

Favourite attributes:
-Intelligence - I are smart. Did I say that already?
-Edurance - It makes more sense than the other attributes i guess.

-Alchemy - I'm a terrible cook but I like to do it. I also think the complexities and sublties of brewing potions would be fascinating to me.
-Repair - I like mechanical things. "Repair" isn't realy the right word. Once I take something apart it usualy doesn't work ever again.
-Security - Same as Repair. I don't fully understand the principals behind the workings or locks but if I were to study them I think I could figure it out.
-Mercantile - I can spend hours looking for deals on Ebay. I got Morrowind brand new for like $5!
-Marksman - I have some experience with archery. Both with old school longbows and with modern combound bows. I'm not saying I'm very good though.
-Mysticism - This one's a bit of a stretch but I think I'm pretty good at reading people (sort of a take on Detect Life.) If a coworker tells me that I should go help somebody else I can usualy tell whether he's actualy concerned that the other person needs help or if he just wants me to get the hell out of the way. I suppose anybody can do that though.
-I can't think of anything else that would fit my personality but if I could choose anything I wanted it would be illusion. I'd like the ability to make myself invisible so people would just leave me alone.

I'd probably join the mage's guild to train my alchemy. I'd probably end up making a living as an alchemist. Either that or a librarian or some other job that doesn't require excessive human interaction or physical effort (Note that speechcraft, athletics and acrobatics are missing from my majors.) If I could have it my way I'd be a writer (Both in Cyrodill and IRL.) As far as the MQ is concerned I'd probably deliver the amulet to what's-his-face because I'd most likely live in Chorrol anyway and it's on my way. But when he asks me to go find Martin I'd just tell him, "Hey, I'm no Blade. Do it yourself." I'd prbably be more shy about it though because speechcraft isn't one of my majors.

Ive done this before.

Zakarius Svedlin

Imperial - I'm a majority race (Im Caucasian) and Im obviously a human. Im much taller than a Breton but not as Beefy as a Nord. So I chose an Imperial with a lightened skin tone.

The Lady - I am a rather effeminate male (page me) and I was raised by a single mom.

Combat - I obviously cant cast magic, and Im not very agile, however I have some self defense training and I love to fight

Personality - I'm generally well liked, and I am a psych student, as such I understand how to be charming
Endurance - I'm pretty tough psychically and mentally

Speechcraft - I am well spoken and people tend to see me as a person they can trust with secrets
Merchantile - Growing up Poor I always had to know where to get a good deal on things
Blunt - If I were in oblivion Id prefer blunts to blades, and in the time the game seems to take place, commoners knew how to use weapons
Restoration - I heal very quickly from injuries
Security - Im a Prison Guard lol
Armorer - Again being poor I learned how to work on things and fix them
Marksmen - I am an excellent shot with a rifle, but they dont have rifles in Oblivion so I suppose in the oblivion universe I would be good with a Bow and Arrow instead.

Either Altmer or Breton, probably Breton, because elves are a bit weird and stuck up.

Birthsign: No idea.

Favored Attributes: Intelligence and Agility

Skills:
Marksman; experience with bows
Athletics; pretty self explanatory
Acrobatics; same
Security; experienced in lock picking
Speechcraft; who doesn't do this to some extent?
Alchemy; know a bit about medicine, plants, and cooking
Sneak; I'm a :ninja:

I'd be a Khajiit, Nord (most likely) or a Dunmer, probably. Normally a friendly guy, but once it comes up to a fight, I'm going straight into the brawl.

Birthsign: The Warrior (Fits quite perfectly. Quite a lot of people consider me being a "fighter" or "warrior", saying I'm just born in the wrong time. Even my first name's meaning fits. "Young Warrior" = Sven)
Favored Attributes: Endurance and Strength.

Skills:
Blades: I'm able to wield such weapons pretty easily
Heavy Armor: I'm not the strongest guy, but I got quite a "stubborn" endurance, enabling me to carry heavy weights for long times. Giving up normally doesn't come to my mind.
Block: I think that's most like the point "blades" - I'm able to handle such situations even for the defense.
Blunt Weapons: Like blades but for more heavy weapons. Once I know I'm allowed to handle a thing with full strength, you'll be pretty damn sure, that I'll crush it 100%. Collateral damage, yay!
Speechcraft: People normally come up to me when they have problems. I keep secrets and usually come along pretty easily with others.
Restoration: I'm able to trait minor to mid wounds.
Repair: It takes some time, but once I know how something works, I'm able to deal with it easily. I assemble and disassemble computers at work, repair them and so on.

I would be interested in how you came up with personality type.
As posted I see Bosmer as bipolar and prone to attitude changes, and you see bretons as smart, quite and astute, how would you define the rest.

Its funny I was thinking as I posted what magic skills could represent irl, you nailed mysticism down I think.
Conjuration, most likely animal wellfare and farming.
Alteration sounds like repairing, handi crafts and modding to me.
Illusion: pranks and magic tricks.
Destruction as someone nicely posted fire works and explosions.
rstoration zakarius mentioned fast healing, and first aid which I think no better examples can apply.
