so if you were fighting an airborn creature...

and so would the people of skyrim.

cliffracers were why I first used a spear in morrowind... as not doing so was a severe breach of immersion.

no spears in skyrim is not logical. it makes no sense.

You would need a long spear to attack things that fly http://www.gameinformer.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-ImageFileViewer/CommunityServer-Components-SiteFiles-imagefeed-featured-bethesda-elderscrolls-elderscrollsv/dragonshoutfeatured.jpg_2D00_1680x0.jpg high.

A bow has somewhat longer range last time I tried.

Why would you use a spear? A sword works better.

I know, right? It's not logical that they would prioritise issues of gameplay and design over realism when making a game! It's almost like they want it to be balanced, or us to have fun, or something! Well, I for one will not stand for it.

Oh my god are you serious? Really? Do we really need another spear topic? For real? Is it really so vital to your gaming experience that the lack of one weapon type ruins the game for you? It's one weapon. It is time to let go.

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance.

Let's try to get you to the fifth stage, buddy.

Okay, okay, hear me out. If I was a dragon and some dude with a spear was poking me...now, this is where it get's a little complex so pay attention...I would fly slightly higher up and then roast the idiot with a fireball.

Why on earth would you choose a spear against a flying enemy rather than a bow or ranged spell? How do you expect to get enough force to do any damage at all when the creature is either staying just barely within your reach or flying away from you? Only if the flying creature in question was pants on head [censored] and flew directly at your spear would this make any sense.

Anyway, that's besides the point. Please, for the love of god, stop making spear topics. There have been literally hundreds of them by now, it is pointless and it is annoying. Stop, please. If they're in then they're in, if not then they're not. Deal with it.

Methinks I'll stick with spells, dragon shouts, bows, or even claymores.

Spears may or may not be logical, but Bethesda operates on a different scale regarding the inclusion of things into the world. Namely, time and consistency to a narrowed central theme.

A spear? That all depends. If its couple meters up in the air yes use a spear. Or even 10 meters yes. That depends on strength. If you have no upper body strength to throw a spear more then 10 meters use a bow and arrow.

Cliffracers were why I started adding marksman to every character I make. Being able to shoot them from a distance, before they register the fact my pc is even there, is so worth the effort to build up marksman. Running up to them close enough to melee wasn't usually a good thing. Whether it was a sword's length or a spear's length, I didn't want to get anywhere near those things. Having to do so would have been a severe breach of immersion; giant flapping sharp-beaked, pointed tail critter and my character would go running up to it? Once I added the area effect arrows official mod, I loved seeing the electrical balls of lightning in the distance. Or the fireball in the distance. Or the green billowy poison cloud in the distance. One of my games, when my marksman skill was high, I had trails of cliffracers to follow across the ashlands, all the way to Ald-ruhn.

This topic again. I don't like this because it will incite another topic about how people are complaining about the game.

And also because it's completely and utterly been talked about to death, and the decision is final. Let's talk about stuff that may actually be in the game. Like horses.

If it's a small flying object, I would use a bow or crossbow. If it's a large flying object, like a Dragon, I would run, tripping my companions. Their sacrifice will not be in vain.

I would use Goku's extendable stick. You need a VERY long pole to attack a dragon that flies hundreds of feets over you...

The more weapons the better. Not just spears should be included, but also polearms, crossbows etc.

Well, it's also a video game. It doesn't have to be logical, if you want to chop a dragon to peices with a dagger, hammer, sword, or whatever. So be it.
