If you were High King....

I have servants do everything for me, and clean up skyrim and make high hrothgar my home and graybeards live on a farm.

Cheers

They'd totally FUS ROH DAH your entire army off the side of the mountain.

You might as well outlaw death :P

You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? Everyone is obsessed with death.

First, me and my council will abolish all that white power, white baloney stank. Then we'll tear down all those kkk talos statues after hanging heimskr. And finally, reduce adolph ysgrammir's tomb to rubble.

I would set to work rebuilding the ancient Nord fortifications that litter the landscape, as well as the crumbling ramparts in cities like Markarth and Whiterun.

I'd also have Thonar Silver-Blood (and Madanach, if he's still alive) put to death and his prison seized by the government. Then have the Black-Briars sent to Cidna Mine for life, and auction off her meadery. Then wipe out what's left of the Thieves Guild.

I would make Ulfric Stormcloak the general of my armies, and have him do everything he can to get the non-elven Imperials to conspire to take down the Thalmor; possibly by utterly destroying Summerset Isle. Those jaundiced, pointy-eared bastards have gone too far this time.

Step 1: Nationalize the Blades
Step 2: Kill all the Stormcloaks
Step 3: Engage in extended counter-intelligence operation against the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and all other organized Bandit/Cultist organizations
Step 4: Infrastructure
Step 5: Infrastructure
Step 6: Infrastructure
Step 7: Reverse engineer Dwemer devices
Step 8: Establish the Imperial Automated Infantry Corps (re: fancy title for a bunch of giant steam powered robots)
Step 9: Giant steam powered robots crush Aldmeri Dominion
Step 10: Invade Oblivion with giant steam powered robots
Step 11: Replace Daedra with giant steam powered robots, save for Sheogorath
Step 12: Establish worship of Sheogorath as the one true faith
Step 13: CHEESE FOR EVERYONE

I would open the console, click on myself, type in "changename" rename me "Emperor".
And then I would invade Cyrodiil then the rest of Tamriel.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is "High King" just what they call a Jarl who's addicted to skooma?

Hey I just decided to make a fun thread out of pure boredom, it's kind of a forum game but not really. So if you were the High King of Skyrim, what would you do and how would you rule? Take over the Empire with the Thalmor? Make Skyrim an international province where all races are favoured? Sail around on a fancy ship like the Emperor?

hmm...as a Stormcloak-sided High King, I'd do many things...

1) Hunt and slay http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dunmer_of_Skyrim and all Dunmer (and anyone from other races, except Nords, of course) who thinks like him. Skyrim is for the Nords, and they better not forget that.

1-addentum) Serious limitations and control against non-Nord population, with the events of massive expulsions if an attempt of a demographic explosion of non-Nords is detected. At the same time, promises of funds and helps for Nord families with numerous children.

2) Open the cities to the khajiits and argonians as equal citizens, or welcomed visitors, as long as they aren't Thalmor spies, they control themselves and don't cause problems, and as long as they keep being a minority. Violation of any of those rules (either an increase in crime commited by them (with inquestionable proofs), or a temptative of a demographic explosion) would result in an inmediate expulsion from Skyrim (except Thalmor spies, which only their bodies would be kicked out. Their heads would remain in Skyrim, though :) ).

On a social basis:

1) Skyrim would keep commercing with the... "Empire", as long as they don't attempt any sabotages or subterfuges to Skyrim's soberany.

2) Windhelm would get a major remodelation, mostly to put decent streets instead of mud, and to repair old ruined buildings. Naturally, those reparations would be done with the upmost respect for the city's architecture and tradition. The Grey Quarters would also get those improvements as well. Improvements to other cities and towns would also be a mid-long term objective (especially Riften and Winterhold). Put all efforts to shut down the Thieves Guild.

3) Inmediate shutdown of the Thalmor Embassy, and execution of any ambassador and Thalmor guards, due to the charges of having bad intentions masked under a good-will embassy, kidnapping, and treason. Similar actions would be taken against any Imperial Legion unit as well as for individual soldiers, under the charges of complicity, at least until the "Empire" decides to take a clear side in the conflict against the Thalmor.

4) Skyrim will and always will continue to fight the Thalmor, until victory, or until the last of it's Sons is dead. Proposal of collaboration with the Redguard resistance, with a historical mutual forgiveness for the past conflicts between Hammerfell and Skyrim, a clear delimitation of frontiers, and a brotherhood pact between those two provinces, as fellow warriors and heroes against the Aldmeri Dominion.

As a Nord who thinks first of his people and his country, I think it's pretty "soft" and balanced towards non-Nords, but it's you to judge :)

First order of business is to Fus Ro Dah Ulfric from the Throat of the World and have Parthurnaax (or however you spell it) fry him in mid-air for good measure. With Lydia jumping down after him to make sure he's dead, because she's good at that kind of things.

Now that the power-hungry nuisance is taken care off, ALL abandonned forts in Skyrim will be cleansed of bandits, rogue mages, vampires, Atronaches, Falmer, and all that assorted vermin and will be restored to their proper selves. There will be no slacking of security under the new High King

Roads will be patrolled extensively so that random travelers do not stumble upon 3 giant spiders, 4 skeletons, a giant cave bear, a troll and 2 ice wraiths going from a town to the next. Bad for tourism.

The Thalmor will of course be expelled without delay and their shiny armors shall be sold to the nearest merchants to cover the costs. The embassy will be repurposed as a secondary residence and the torture cellar will serve to teach a lesson to the super-spy wannabes who thought they could order the High King to murder the only cool and useful NPC in the entire game.

Plans will be made to expand EVERY city in the province, starting with Morthal and that sad excuse of a settlement we sometimes call Whiterun. How can we be proud of our cities if they contain less people than the bandit-infested cave next to it?

EVERY citizen of the province will have to suffer through mandatory horseback combat training, so that the High King can finally kill some douches without having to disembark from his demonic steed every single damn time a lowly wolf bothers His Magnificience.

The province will also support a war effort to take back the underground city of Blackreach. Because it looks cool as hell and the High King is tired of killing the respawning enemies upon each subsequent visit.

There will be a 66% increase in taxes to fund these initiatives.

If the citizens are unhappy with the new taxes, they can take it up with the High King. And his ridiculously huge and most definitely not Freudian claymore. And his army. And his equally ridiculously armed entourage. And his pet dragon. Preferably all at once so that the High King can move on to more productive things than repressing dung-covered peasants, such as making his aforementionned claymore do +3 more damage.

Once all that is done, it will be time to invade Summerset Island. While shirtless and piss drunk. And then meet Talos as the 10th Divine and savior of the Empire. But that's a tale for anyther day.

You'll have a very hard time finding someone on Tamriel who isn't power-hungry. What it matters is not being power-hungry or not, but what do you do with that power.

For instance, if Ulfric is sincere in his statements and feelings, I don't have any problem with him being power-hungry. In fact, it's the only way you can put into reality all what you think.

While Fas Ro Dahing him off the end of the world does have some appeal, I think I would just exile him.

Or if he caught me on a bad day maybe remove his tongue first (my reformed Necromancers can help so it is a clean, painless as possible, procedure), then exile him.

You also don't give many reasons for doing that. Maybe just jealousy?

It still hasn't been proved if his feelings are right, or if he just wants power to benefit himself. And if it's the latter, believe me I'd also Fus-Ro-Dah him from the Throat of the World....and that with his tongue firmly tied to a post.

IRuling a kingdom is a lot of responsiblity, personally I would use a steward to rule in my stead while I went around bashing dragons. I'd come back occasionally to check on him, just to make sure he wasn't dipping into the treasury or sleeping in my bed etc.

High King? I'd declare independance, kick the empire and Thalmor out, make a military aliance with Hammerfell, repair the fortifications of my cities and re-establish Helgen, create a trade pact with Elyswier and make a Khajit quarter in the most prominent trade towns, authorize covert burn missions into Altmer territory, establish and stregthen my border forts, kick the collage of mages out of skyrim while rebuilding Winterhold, Make the worship of Talos the official state religion, ask the monks of High hrothgar to send an adviser and help establish a new shcool of battlemages versed in the voice,.. I'd consider an open immigration and pardon policy but fear ruling too far against the will of the people. I am sure I could come up with more.

Create alliances, build my army, and live in peace, until it's time to unleash the fury of Skyrim upon the Thalmor. :disguise:

I'd use my shout powers to completely decimate all Thalmor outposts, then re-establish contact with the College of Winterhold. When the Thalmor come to Skyrim to seek revenge, I'll get the College and Companions help the soldiers completely kill every last Thalmor who attacks. Then finally, probably help the Redguards in exchange for an alliance.

As for the Empire...who knows. If I'm playing my Nord Rogue, I'd declare independence and start a massive alliance like NATO that has Elsweyr, Hammerfell, High Rock, and Skyrim. When I gain enough power, I'd probably start raids in Summerset Isles.

For my Dunmer Empire supporter, I'd get Skyrim to go under the Empire's control and start a massive campaign to get rid of the Thalmor.

Either way, so long as the Aldmeri Dominion leader is at the chopping block, I'm happy.

The Plan:

Be the first High Elf to rule Skyrim.

And mess with the Thalmor by keeping them out under pain of death.

Attempt to promote diplomatic relations with Hammerfell, Morrowind, and Black Marsh.

Make sure Orcs are incorporated into Skyrim's society

Dress all my bodyguards in Daedric armour

Form an alliance that will rival the Dominion and the Empire.

Force the Empire to join me under my terms.

Troll the Dominion over and over and over AGAIN!

Then, bring peace to Tamriel by uniting it.

(Because Thalmor are annoying.)
