If you were thrown into the D.C. Wasteland, where would you

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 5:31 pm

If I was lucky enough to have a chance to join the Enclave, I'd live in Raven Rock (assuming the LW isn't going to come along and blow the hell out of it ) if nothing else than because its the safest place in the CW.

Otherwise I'd try to make my way to Tenpenny Tower, Megaton, or Rivet City. Depending on which one was closer.

AS just another civilian I'd not have access to the Citadel, but I can shoot, and do so very well. I've got more than my fair share of survival training as well (thank you, Boy Scouts) so I'm fairly certain I could at least manage food, water, and shelter pretty easily. It's defense thats the problem, so I'd probably fort up in the basemant of one of the still-standing structures near the Citadel or Rivet City. It wouldn't be comfortable, but I could manage it. I'd try to get on good terms with roving Brotherhood and/or Outcast patrols, mainly by being willing to trade clean water for a few magazines of 5.56 and information. Or simply by offering a clean, quiet place to rest for a few hours in return for a few extra rounds and some company.

I would move in with Karen Schenzy at Arefu (if she will have me) and live there. I always liked her, and she seems lonely. Also, the view across Arefu lake at 6am is one of my favourite in all of the Wasteland. Arefu is also quite safe, with only one road into the village and regular caravans passing outside. Sounds ideal to me.

Also, doubles Pictionary evenings with Ken and Brailee would be a blast!

My character would either live in the mighty mystical wonder of Rockopolis, or the Yao Gui caves because I have animal friend perk and theres a cool little hidden spot behind a ton of sand bags. Although I would have to take a pretty long walk to any civilization, and one more place I would really like to live in would be Raven Rock, but it kind of exploded. :flamed:

I wouldn`t mind living in Megaton (as long as that nuke was defused). I`m ashamed to say i`d probabaly try for Ten Penny Tower too- and probably be rejected.

I`d give Little Lamplight a go. I know the game makes it hard to rule there, but in real life ANY advlt or two would`ve ruled that place by now. No way could a bunch of kids stop even one advlt in my opinion. It`s easy enough to get in and the game FORCES you unrealistically not to threaten anyone. Yes, I know, not nice, but I`m afraid that`s how it would be. Once advlts knew about Little Lamplight it would no longer be a haven, unless advlts volunteerd to protect them, I guess. Could be a good one for a quest, protecting Lamplight.

Failing that, it`s hard to know where else. the underground could be a spot, but it`s likely too dangerous alone. Maybe Girdirshade. I`d love to join the Brotherhood, but that`s unlikely to happen too.

There are no real easy places to stay in that world, especially if you have nothing or very little.

Just a note, you don't have to say I'd live at x assuming TLW didnt do this.

I said that if you were warped into the PC. So if you wanted the join the Enclave, you probably could if you talked Eden into it. Or Megaton if you decided to defuse the bomb :D

I'd probably try to get to Rivet City and hang around there. About as safe and comfortable as you can hope for I guess.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dukov yet.

Abandoned apartment building somewhere with some "friends"? Ala Dukov's Place.

Gibson house in Minefield FTW.

Gibson house is near the spawn point when you fast travel, but Zane house is the last one, the most protected by the walls of Minefield. from a "real life" experience, it is the most logical to chose in MF.

I see your point, but if we're going off realism then traversing deep into the Minefield town past dozens of mines to get into your home day after day hardly seems logical... But having a home on the outskirts of the town like mine isn't much more logic either. In either case I put tons of mines outside the Gibson house anyways and inside the house just because I would want my house protected in real life, obviously no one in the game is going to break in and steal any of my things.

And I personally like having the bloody hand print on the door as a mark of which house in mine. But to each his own. I just always used the Gibson house as my supply cache and home ever since I first started playing.

hmmm, probably tenpenny tower. Hate the people there, but the view is amazing. It′s safe and most of the muties are far away in the DC ruins. I would get rid of tenpenny silently and use his room as my own. A better place in the capitol couldn′t be possible. The balcony would I use to relax and snipe random creatures.

The Citadel so that I could become a member of the Brotherhood Of Steel.

This first id probably go over to the Tennepenny tower then make my way over to the Citadel. Also blow up megaton...place is just revolting.

Well, my character is 14 years old (Yay for mods), and I've got the game completely modded out so that it is wonderfully realistic. As in, one bullet to the head kills, crippling is serious, ect.

Anyways, when I was 14 I was already pretty adept at gunsmithing, and had built three or four simple single-shot pistols. So I would probably go work for Flak and Shrapnel in Rivet City repairing firearms, or open up my own shop in Megaton (Can't stand Moira).

Otherwise, I would probably build a shack up near the satellites at the northeast part of the Capital Wasteland, on top of a specific isolated hill. There's a scavenger I can trade with for basic supplies under a fallen dish, and plenty of wild game around the area for me to hunt. I know how to rig up a generator from a simple gasoline motor and a car alternator, and I've taken a class in architecture, so the building itself shouldn't be a problem. If I can get my hands on the seemingly abundant cinderblocks around the wasteland, a basemant shouldn't be that hard to rig up either. I can get an old stove working for heat and cooking the animals I hunt, and I can hook up a terminal to the generator so that I can keep a journal. Lighting can be achieved with a closed circuit of lightbulbs on wires hung on the walls, and as previously mentioned, I can build my own firearms. So yeah, I think I would be okay.

Tenpenny Tower or Rivet City. Those places seem a little safer than other settlements in the wasteland.

The radio signals that leads to the sewers, those sewers looks like a secure place to live at, only one way in so I just need to trap the [censored] out of the entrance to it and then I'll be able to sleep secure at night.
Wouldn't really want to live in any settlement.
Tenpenny tower, I don't have the money or class for it.
Arefu, they dead.
Megaton, since 80% of the population don't have jobs I fear that I won't have one either, and it's not exactly a secure place to be if a raider tribe or super mutants decided to storm it.
Rivet City, I just don't trust the ones in charge of it, and as I fancy human flesh every once in a while I doubt they're going to let me live there.
Paradise Falls, if I got accepted into it then I'd probably live there but I don't want to be affiliated with Slavers when BOS or Enclave comes a knocking.
Citadel, wouldn't let me in anyway.
Republic Of Dave, I'd probably like to expand his Republic and make it a better town under Dave's rule but since Deathclaws are a stonethrow away I'd rather not.

So a sewer it is! :D

Do Nagasaki and Hiroshima deserve to be blown up since it is rebuilt around where it got bombed?
