Your 1st EPIC Moment

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 2:59 pm

It's not much, but once I got a machete (best melee weapon EVER) I decided I'd go scab the old schoolhouse in Goodsprings. When I went in I decided I'd go quiet to the mantises and started owning them. I remember the moment when I was in between two of them so I just pointed my crosshair at one, swung, moved it to the other side, swung, and without any missing swing in between. Then the final one was behind a desk so I jumped right over it and went in for a power swing and anolly owned it. It wasn't quite a WTF moment but it made me feel empowering over everything else.

Oh, and beating the game on hardcoe with 5 crippled limbs with no doctor's bags or hydra. :)

I believe it was camp forlorn hope where I set C4 EVERYWHERE to ensure no man would live from the explosion.
Using a stealth boy, I snuck around the camp and placed the bombs, (They would shoot me on site if I came out from hiding.)

I had First Person Cinematic mode on, and well, I jumped off the cliff, in 3rd person, clicked R1, and in slow-mo, the camp lit on fire, with me jumping out of the way. Really wish I had a PC to take a photo of that one moment. The bodies flying into the air, the explosions red and orange hues behind me as I leaped off the cliff.

Very Beautiful moment of Destruction.

How Could I have forgotten my favorite moment?

Charging up Black Mountain at night, fighting the Super Mutant Infestation.
Though, this is probably what everyone experienced, mine was unique for me, and has only happened once.

5 Super Mutant masters perched themselves ontop of a hill, with incinerators, while some on left side were firing at me as well. It was like an epic war scene... thousands of fire balls raining down upon Cass and I as we run for our lives.

Any time I use the Marksman Carbine and I get desperate instantly turns into one of these, since I can pull the trigger fast enough to make it basically an Assault Carbine on PCP. Eats through ammo... AND deathclaws.

My first CMOA, though, had to have been when the CL assassins came for my dinky level 8 ass... and got a face full of 40mm grenades, dynamite, and .357 ammo. The last assassin, filthy coward, tried to run. I shot him in the back a couple times with my 10mm, and that still wouldn't bring him down. I had to chase him a long ways off then finish him using what little 9mm ammo was left. It was insane, but somehow I won. Then, I went into a canyon full of Jackal gang members who were taking pot shots at me from the ridge of the cliff. So I used my last 10mm bullets to take a few of them out, then pursued the rest of them on foot using bullets taken from the dead. One of them actually managed to run over terrain my character couldn't traverse. I thought I had lost him. I was dejected. The last few battles had whittled my health down to almost nothing, my materials were basically all out, and I wouldn't even be granted the satisfaction of killing this guy. Suddenly, his body flew over the mountain and crashed down below, and a triumphant bighorner came into view. He was still alive as he was falling, so I managed to shoot him dead before he hit the ground. Then, I killed the bighorner.

I felt like I had already beat the game.

When one of my trial characters a fresh faced level 8 character, skilled in melee exclusively whacked a giant radscorpion once sent it bowling over, even though getting no where near through it's DT wiped it out without taking a scratch.. I thought who needs guns and lmao.

Setting foot outside Doc Mitchell's house for the first time and laying eyes on Goodsprings... felt even better than exiting that vault, well for me it did at least.
I'm do love me some western from time to time and I felt Goodsprings captured that feeling beautifully. :)

I was on my way to Red Rock Canyon, on my way from Goodsprings, just after the Graveyard I see two giant radscorpions, I take my rifle up and starts shooting, but they just wouldnt die!!
Then my HP went down like really much, I turn around and see many many Cazadors! :o
I started running at once, taking stimpak and screaming oh my f****** god, I made it far, but then I saw infront of me, and there it was another pack of Cazadors!
So I just threw a granade right in front of my legs, blowing myself, one radscorpion and one Cazador up! :D

Unique Gauss Rifle + Meltdown Perk + Extra Fiends Mod

I saw a HUGE pack of fiends (at least around 20) kinda bunched up.
Scoped in on my YCS and one shot the guy in the middle. Set off a magnificently large multi-chain explosion where you see the first guy get sent flying in the air followed by the dismembered body parts, guns, bodies, and heads of everyone else around him. It looked like I set off some kind of giant green nuke in an area complete with a halo of body parts.

Wasn't my first, but definitely my favourite epic moment so far:

Me and Boone were working our way through Quarry Junction, sniping our way past little opposition. However, somehow the Deathclaw Mother managed to flank us, and I only noticed this when she emerged high atop a rock behind us standing about twenty feet tall. She stood there for a moment, proud like some petty tyrant's statue atop a plinth, as if to let us take in her awful majesty, before leaping from said rock with talons outstretched, aimed at my dear Boone's head. I was just able to enter VATS in time, and I only wish I had a picture of that particular freeze-frame, for it was the most absurdly dramatic piece of ballet VATS has ever provided me; this monstrosity frozen mid-leap, claws inches from Boone's half-turned, half-aware skull. Three shots rang out from my sniper rifle, three critical hits were scored, and the creatures' headless body came crashing down on top of the shell-shocked Boone.

He never explicitly thanked me for saving his life that day, but I liike to think I earned his respect in that quarry.

^^^^ The exact opposite of what was said above.

This wasn't my first EPIC moment but certainly my most memorable:

I was at the entrance to Quarry Junction picking off Deathclaws one at a time...how fortunate that I had Boone (with his Anti-Material Rifle) and ED-E with me. I underestimated the distance between myself and a deathclaw and frantically backpedaled while firing off shots into the damn beast.

At that point my health was very low----low enough to die in one swipe and my gun jammed----and just as the deathclaw lunged forward a second time, its claws inches from my face, everything went into slow-motion. The deathclaw's head was blown off! Boone was right behind the creature and pulled off a perfect headshot right before I was about to die. He saved my butt and all I could do was laugh.

It was the type of scene you would expect in a movie and would have been even better if Boone had said "Want me to aim that for you next time?".

Similar, shot down the Legendary Nightstalker and all the others around it turn into goo and fly off.

*****Your 1st EPIC Moment*****

Your 1st EPIC Moment is like your 1st Kiss. ~YOU'LL NEVER FORGET IT~

Unless its svcked........

Which means it wasn't epic
Which means it didn't count........

MY 1st EPIC Moment was when I arrived at Primm, and an escaped convict attacked me.
He swung and missed with a Crowbar (leaving his whole head exposed)
HEADSHOT!!! Brains everywhere. I wanted to test depth of the game, and see how much control Bethesda gives us.
So I drag the body to a burning barrel and start to cook pieces of my fresh kill... ~Tasty~

My first was running into Primm after leaving Goodsprings, and as soon as I walked in a Bandit threw dynamite and the NCR were all firing back at the entire city and it looked like a battle to take over and i was like "HOLY S-"

Blasting the mother deathclaw and her babies with the C-finder! Not quite as awesome as seeing the behemoth blast thru the bus for the first time outside of the radio station after battling through a horde of supermutants in the school and courtyard with the BOS in FO3. (just when you thought you won)

All my epic moments happen with my sniper rifle. I love my sniper rifle!
Snipping a grenda/dynamite and watching it explode in their hands.
Snipping out their weapon and watch them punch my companies.
Snipping a guy in the leg and watch him hobble away and have Boone snip him in the head.
My fav was when I snipped a fiend and the head flew into the air and never came down.
I miss the rail aways rifle. In FO3 I nailed a guys head to the wall and his body fell away.

1.Stepping over the dead guard and on to the raft for Caesars fortress at midnight, heavily armed and fully armored.

Boone-“You know if we take this raft were probably never coming back, right?”

2.Stepping out of Caesars tent and watching the sun rise over the dead and waste of his fortress.

Outside of V.A.T.S, but with the critical hit cam on, I was sneaking around the ant infested power station at Nellis AFB. As I picked off the ants one by one, only one was left but I couldn't seem to find him. Suddenly, whilst upstairs I finally spot him and try to do a V.A.T.S. attack with my grenade. Unfortunately I had a very low probability of getting the grenade close to him, so I did it in real time. Suddenly as the grenade goes off the camera changes to my character, spinning around him slowly as the explosive warheads inside the base begin to go off, erupting fire through the windowsills surrounding my character. The camera then shifted back to the little giblets of the ant left gently falling back to the scorched earth.

I proceeded to excrete bricks.

Another time at a much lower level I was being chased by several Jackals. I only had a 10mm pistol and about 13 bullets. I kept spamming V.A.T.S. spreading their grey matter all over the pavement. One very unlucky Jackal came at me with a knife, jumping down and lowering their head, exposing the back of her head. I proceeded to aim the pistol (in V.A.T.S.) at the base of her head and had a mist of crimson erupt into my screen.

Another time, not quite as awesome as the others yet still entertaining I was going around the REPCONN HQ when I got to the 3rd floor. The security bot told me to give him id or leave. I instead pulled out my assault carbine and unleashed hell on him. Suddenly time slowed down as his lifeless metal shell was blasted by the flurry of bullets far off into the corner of the room about 20 feet away.

And then my last epic moment was with a melee build. I had with me a Sledgehammer (regular. Screw the Super Sledge), the "Mauler" V.A.T.S. attack, and the Super Slam perk enabled. As a Legion Explorer chased after me uphill at Nelson, I proceeded to do an amazing spin and launched his body across the horizon. Apparently however I was facing the son of Superman, because immediately after he hit the ground he got back up and started chasing back after me before being pummeled to death by Veronica.

Not my first epic moment, but definitely my favourite. With the more fiends mod, low level and with nothing but a unique trail carbine with about 20 rounds and the weathered ten mil pistol, out of stimpaks and food, managed to run straight into the middle of a pack of fiends. A big pack of fiends. Now, for some reason Laser RCW's do strange things to my laptop, so here I am getting my [censored] kicked by a pack of fiends, firing off about one shot every 30 seconds, my health is dropping like crazy and I can't bring up my pip-boy, nor aim, nor fire rapidly, due to the Laser RCW's making my laptop all screwy. I managed to take down a good portion of the fiends, then decide to run for it since my health is almost gone. Running backwards still trying to shoot, hitting TABTABTABTABTABTAB to no avail, down to one fiend and about 3 bars of health, fiend is SECONDS away from bashing my head in with a baseball bat, takes a swing then BAM! Melts onto a beautiful pile of green goo. Gannon has perfect timing. I thanked him then carried on my merry way, then about 10 seconds later, up comes my pip-boy.
It was simply too funny for me to get angry, but I did inform it that it's timing was perhaps a little off.

Another epic moment is me being totally dumb. Playing at about 3 in the morning, tired as hell, I head off to Quarry Junction just to take a few potshots at the deathclaws on the outskirts. Aim in with my sniper rifle and snipe a young deathclaw. Start sniping his two friends, who don't seem to be dying at all, or even really moving, for that matter. WTF, I think, and go wandering up to them. Ultimate moment of realising I was sniping dead Deathclaws. A Powder Ganger had managed to take two down himself.

Fighting off a pack of half a dozen Deathclaws with my Bumper Sword and Super Slam. With a cry of victory, I slew the last Deathclaw with my own HP at 1. Its head exploded.

Literally 2 seconds later, a Deathclaw came out of nowhere and blindsided me.

First part's quite epic. Can't explain it well enough though. Second part is just amusing.

My biggest epic moment was completely destroying Caesar's Camp. I had tried it alone and failed obviously so I got Boone and ED-E and managed to get a few more kills but still struggled.

Eventually I gave Boone great items and managed to kill everyone outside of Caesar's Tent, waited for my companions to resuscitate before heading in....

We didn't last long, they all cornered us and the zap gloves killed me before I had time to get my pip-boy up so I reloaded, ran in, ran out and tried to shoot them running backwards but they still got me.

But I had one trick up my sleeve....

I ran outside and soon enough, Caesar and all his guards followed us out and we briefly distracted by Boone and ED-E outside the tent. I pulled out Euclid's E-Finder, aimed it at the front of the tent then bang! No more Caesar, no more proctoreian guard.
