Your 1st EPIC Moment

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 6:03 pm

I really had no epic moments in FNV. None that I can remember. If I remembered one i'm sure i'd consider it epic.

There was one thing the game did that was pretty epic and that was the battle of hoover dam.
Spoiler
I remember the Vertibird sweeping over my head, and the boomers just dropping bombs, man it was a thrill to see all that hard work pay off.

The one that will always stay with me...

I've traveled all the way with Boone and ED-E but I was on a certain unnamed, unspoiled quest and had to go to the Great Khan camp area. I didn't think it was a good idea to take my companions with me so I had to make my way through a canyon filled with Cazadors alone....all alone....just me and my early weapons. I was quite amazed when I finally made it. It took a lot of saves, a bunch of dying and different strategies and it pretty much wiped out my Aid inventory. It showed me that I could do this without companions if I wanted to though. I don't because I'm a big companion fan and they make the game epic. :)

I was having trouble killing Ceasar, and his guards... I tried 5 times, and just could not do it.

Got to thinking... You know I have had this C4 for ages I have an idea.

Having never used C4 I put down all 10 of them outside of the tent, and parked Veronica far away.

Went into tent, and ran right out, and far away.

Soon out popped Ceasar, and all of his guards at once (better then I thought as I was sure the first guard would come out first.

Pushed my detonator button, and BOOM... I think I used to much C4 as I could never find any of the body parts to loot, but had about a half hour of 'broken' limb messages popping up :).

Strolling around Camp searchligt, when I notice the radiation spike. Now, I have a huge amount of Rad-away, so this isn't a problem. However, wuth the fire station, I am curious to see why. There are a few radscorpians, but I thought 'meh, it's fine.'

I walk in, and the first thing I see is the massive claw od the radscorpian queen. Out of fear, I fire my Thump-thump multiple times. Now, she was right beside me, so let me tell you, it did not end well. After the whole debacle however, I got the pleasure of grinning at the sight of the Dead radscorpian queen, before walking out, happily, before dying of radiation poisoning.

Here is an EPIC Moment I had tonight.

I landed a sneak attack on a Giant Radscorpian with the Abilene Kid LE BB Gun. Thinking about taking that thing into Quary Junction now...

This falls short of EPIC but I think this topic will be ok. :)

This just happened a minute ago. I was in a cave and decided to go swimming in one section but I had Boone wait on a platform while I checked out the water. I had just gotten Pushy so I put it on and went in. I'm looking all around and trying to see what's down there and I looked down and it was like my feet were webbed. huh? I looked further and saw they were the feet of a Lakelurk! omg, omg, he just kept following me and swimming and my heart was pounding. I found the way back to the platform where Boone quickly took care of him. Still breathing hard about it. :D

My first time walking into Freeside, I met the guy that asks you to follow him into the alleyway. Stupid as I was, I followed him and saw the body, So I start dialog with him and then he tries to ambush me. Before I can even bring my gun up, his head explodes right in front of me. I turn around to see Boone dropping 3 more thugs and finally just walking up to me and going, "Huh, gone." This was my first time seeing Boone with his god like sniping. After all that, I walk into the second area of Freeside to be ambushed by two MORE thugs who obviously don't know I have a beastin quick scoper on my side. One of them dies mid run and just slides at my feet. The other got one swipe of his tiny little straight razor on me before he died at my feet as well.

Too bad he lost his damn sniper at the Tops and I had to switch him out for Lily <_<

I have only 4, and they are

- Deathclaws able to inflict death, I thought I was hot sh*t, and when I decided to do what I did to them in fallout 3, the deathclaw barely flinched and punted my severed head out of the quarry.

- When I donned advanced power armor in New Vegas and and watched in glory in 3rd person with my plasma rifle equipped that he was not the abomination of fallout 3 advanced power armor, all was right in the world again.

- When I found my first unique weapon and noticed it looked unique instead of just a name and stat change, I was like "fu*k yeah obsidian, they know how to make unique weapons"

- Having the devs see things that don't quite work, like Energy Weapons and are willing to change them from listening to the playerbase ( I was wish more game companies would listen to the players).

I ignored the Ranger outside Nelson who wanted to kill the NCR troopers the Legion had crucified in the center of town, and decided to rescue them myself. Played a sniper character, and haunted that town like a ghost, killing the garrison from long range with a suppressed Sniper Rifle from the hilltops surrounding the town, until I was satisfied they were all dead. Then I moved in and got the troopers. No one detected me, so they never knew it was me. It took a long time, but it was worth it. I was truly the last thing they never saw.

A Powder Ganger lobbed a dynamite at me, I went into V.A.T.S and shot the dynamite, it exploded and he went flying above my head, then I leveled up.

This happened yesterday.

It's my 4th character so I'm getting experimental. Level 6. I've been looting carefully so I've got 5 stealth boys and about 35 stims. Hey, why not sneak past Quarry Junction? You'd think you know what's going to happen, right?

I tell ED-E to stay put in Sloan and head north. When I start to see real movement on the compass I activate the first stealth boy and read a magazine. Sneak past two Deathclaws -- neat. Find a nice corner in some rocks, wait out the SB, and activate another. Sneak, sneak. There's Neil outside his shack at the foot of Black Mountain. I tune my radio to Tabitha. Up ahead is a little platform or shack so I start rummaging in the debris. After a while I get a 'caution' and realize the Stealth Boy had expired while I was distracted. Crap!

3rd Stealth Boy activated, I sneak north, silently cursing ED-E's enhanced perception. I'm worried about Deathclaws in the immediate area but these red blips could be Fiends around McCarren for all I know. There's a swarm of them right ahead so I veer to the east along the base of a cliff. I round a rock and there's a Deathclaw 3 feet in front of me. It's looking at me, Ray. Instantly I hit VATS only to realize I have a Varmit Rifle equipped. There's things up here that get mad if you shoot them. Especially with a Varmit rifle. I get it mad in the head twice. Might as well have given it a paper cut. I backpedal furiously. It hits me and knocks me UP the hill to a little ledge and I realize it can't reach me. Doctor's bag, stim, stim, stim. Then the damned thing looks around and runs off to find another way at me. I am still alive.

That's not the epic part.

I activate the 4th Stealth Boy, head north east, evading 2 more 'claws. Here's a gulch with some cover so I'm sneaking down there, watching red blips moving all around me. I can see Repconn HQ - safety - in the distance. Something is moving ahead so I have to stay put. I equip my .357. All clear. I take like two steps and suddenly, 'You have offended Caesar! Time to die!' (or words to that effect). Well, admittedly I did blow up the legionnaires in Nipton (they line up for you -how could you resist?), so fair's fair. BUT..

When the game screen goes back to normal view I'm not seeing the assassin because of the Centaur that came out of nowhere and is chewing on my face. The centaur that brought a super mutant with him.

Now, there's no way to describe everything that happened after that. It was way too chaotic. Suffice to say that at the end of the battle against the centaur, the mutant, the legion assassins and the friggin' young deathclaw who came to see what the ruckus was, I limped into McCarren swilling Sarsparilla because I had no doctor's bags, no stimpacks, no super stimpacks, no armor, no grenades and a nasty addiction to Hydra...

But I had my new 12.7 and 7000 caps. I fast travel back to Sloan, pick up ED-E. He's happy to see me.

There's a great thread on the dumbest thing you've done in FNV, too, if you haven't seen it. There's stuff like this, only epically stupid. I've hit the 5 traps in the Nipton house, twice. Ya never learn.
Thanks for the compliment, by the way. I could have expanded the final fight a little but I had to go to work. Figured you guys had played enough to envision it. The only thing extra was me cursing up a storm. And weeping a little.

Just finished fighting a ton of ants, had only a few bars of health left and no stimpacks in my inventory. Just my luck a radscorpion appears from behind me and I yell "I'm dead!". Using vats to buy myself a few extra seconds I throw a stick of dynamite. It ends up blowing the radscorpion 100+ ft into the air and comes crashing down to it's death. WooHoo!

Running through the Deathclaw Promontory while stealthed to get Remnant's Power Armor(The Stealth Boy barely has a long enough charge without Lily) then I get greedy and take the eggs and I have to run from about ten deathclaws, and jump off the cliff into the water.

Lining up my anti-material to pop one in Caesar's Face.
The moment is right, all the guards are down, and Caesar has let his guard down. The crosshairs aim between his eyes, the trigger is pulled and.... at the same time Veronica decides to get in the way and have her head blown off. Really, really wrecked the moment. I spared his life I was so disappointed in what had just happened.

My first trip to Deathclaw Promontory. I only entered that deathtrap because I couldn't get Remnant armor the normal way.
I walked (aka Ran like the wind) into the place climbing rocks as I went confusing the Deathclaws pitiful AIs. Jumping down into the pit where the bodys were SUPPOSED to be and finding the corner empty. I turn around and pump a rather angry Deathclaw Mother full of 308s from "This Machine" taking her down quick. I bolt around a rock and right under a leaping Deathclaw sprinting towards the edge of the cliff. I hit the edge realising I wont make it into the river if I jump from here. So I instead dropped onto a small rock jutting from the side of the cliff and watch as 3 Alphas and a mother go flying over my head into the water below. I then shimmed my way back up the cliff and began to fight my way towards the exit. I only got through 3 Deathclaws before they began to push me back towards the cliff. I took my chances and vaulted right off the edge landing less then a foot shy of the water and dieing instantly. My body slid into the water and began to float away.
That was the best one I have so far...
