Your Anticipation Level for Skyrim

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:43 am

Father, I have come to confess. I was a lifelong consumer of Nintendo products until it became very clear to me that I was no longer fitting into their target demographic. Weeks and months would pass with no announcement that was going to light my fire. I had to make a choice, and I chose PS3 in March 2010. I had read about Oblivion from years back and I got a copy immediately after getting my PS3. What a wondrous title that I am still playing, my Breton of 140 hours still has a megaton of quests to do, main quest is done - guides to join, isles to complete and side quests. I've only really been sidetracked by FO3 and NV, no other title has spent more than a week in my PS3 since getting Oblivion. [Edit: except for FO3 and NV]

At any rate I am just totally having a bad case of the hots for Bethesda, they have been the vehicle to bring three of my all time games into my new PS3 library. That's pretty big and Skyrim has become the title that I am more psyched for than any other ever, more than RE4 (delivered), more than TP (letdown).

...and Bethesda has even got me thinking going PC. Just for Elder Scrolls, hmmmm - I should go buy a hard copy of Oblivion for PC, and Morrowind (have not played this yet.)

"More than any other game, ever, for any platform."

I'm not exaggerating, either. I've never anticipated a game this much, before.

A new tes game is a major event and I will savour every moment of my first play through. I'm also looking forward to the new Deus Ex. I hope they don't mess it up.

Extremely High and that's an understatement. It's going to be a long 10 months.

Don't care for the options in the poll, so I'll post my answer here.

Looking forward to Skyrim, but there is no reason to get too excited about it (see sig). Actually I'm really trying not to think about it too much.

I'll pre order the game yes, but beyond that, will not think about it much.

Too busy hyping over Mass Effect 3, Skyrim could be another oblivion/New Vegas so there's always a nervousness when new info is released rather than excitement. But still that trailer blew my mind and loosened my bowels, and the screenshots are rather good.

As far as massive RPG's goes...

I have yet to finish Fallout 3 / The Witcher / Mass Effect / Gothic 1 ...

I have not touched Mass Effect 2 (and the next installment soon to be released) / Dragon Age (and the sequel soon to be released) / Fallout: New Vegas / Divinity 2 / Gothic 2&3&4 ...

There are more I'm sure.

Yet the grass is way greener on the other side of the fence, and I'm quite so hyped about Skyrim (and lurking these boards) - which will take full priority on 11-11-11 :P

( I finished the MQ of Morrowind last weekend and am currenlty playing Tribunal :P )

I'll modify the poll. I can't see your sig.

I tried the ME2 demo, and honestly was not feeling it. It was like Paper Mario, just in a fantastic sci-fi RPG world. Too heavy on the dialog trees for me.

I am by no means not expecting a perfect game in terms of stability. Hopefully the new engine is not prone to random freezing, TBH I've only had a few freezes on TES4, a couple in FO3....but NV.. The experience though, that's where it's at and that's what I am excited for.

I must say that I have never been in love with a game this much before I have played it or even after. I already like Skyrim more than Morrowind or Oblivion and I have never played it before. I don't know if this is a smart thing to say because it might be insulting to my family members, but there is NOTHING more important to me than Skyrim. Nothing. I mean it.

I'm definitely excited, but I'm not exactly wetting my pants in anticipation just yet. It's a long ten months away, and there's plenty of other stuff in between to occupy my time.

This actually describes me exactly. Never been more excited for a game before.

@Mankar Camoran - Skyrim is also very important to me, but it doesn't get in the way with family members. I just discuss it with them! I've got one elder brother and two younger ones, and they are all into TES!

But there are always a few things in my life that are more important then a video game can ever be.

Meh.

Of course I'm interested in how it fares upon release. I'll probably buy it some day, after all the DLC/expansions are released, after the community patches have been created, and the game comes down in price. In the meantime, I've 40 other games I have yet to play, nevermind the ones I still want to buy.

If Bethesda had a better track record of not releasing buggy games, I might be tempted to purchase TESV sooner. But, given the likely scenario of a GotY and bugginess, I think I'm going to wait this one out.

Welcome to the family. I love to hear from people who only recently have discovered Elder Scrolls. I'm also curious of why/how they have missed it for so long, since the last game in the series came out so long ago (4.5 years).

My anticipation level for Skyrim is bigger than any game ever, including Morrowind and Oblivion.

I used to be excited for the past two ES games, but I would wait...and wait.... and then the game gets delayed, so I would wait some more.... By then, I would forget about waiting and patiently play other games while I am waiting...and then, on release day, I will get SOOOOOOO excited, I try to get it in the first few days of release. But I would have such HIGH expectations, I would disappointed in some areas of the games.
However, they were still great games in the end, even if they take some time to adjust to. ^_^

=) I know that all the ES games will be good in the end, but if I get too excited about it, then, when/if a delay happens, the wait would feel so much worse, lol!

This year, I am somewhat excited... but, strangely, I am not as excited as I used to be back when Morrowind/Oblivion were released. I think maybe I have learned my lesson from the past ES (and other) games to not get overexcited in order to avoid any disappointments if something happens or if something falls short of expectation.

Also.... I'm playing Oblivion for the first time, so that game will totally CONSUME MOST OF MY (note: FREE) TIME, oh, yes! So, no, this wait will go by quickly! =D

ALSO! --> This year has too many great games coming out! Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Killzone 3, Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Infamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and more! =D Too many games to choose from! It's also the year of sequels, lol!
