My avatar is a dark templar of the adaptis astartes (better known as the space marines). Going to change to another avater around december, it's a bit of a ritual of mine to change my avater once a year though they're rather consistent in similarities.

Scrooge McDuck is a role model.

Also, he has a Scottish accent.

If he bought the moon, he could say "Put it on my bill"

I remember somebody talking about those. Apparently they were a learning tool to teach kids not to drink chlorine bleach and stuff. They were probably around when I was growing up but I think my parents just expected me to use common sense.

Why do you have the avatar you currently are using?

Why I always have my portrait as avatar :)

Joking or not, where I come from people who make that kind of inference tend to end up with broken teeth. Fair enough if you were joking, I'm just saying, that's all. I wouldn't joke about someone in that way, it's just how it's always been with people I've associated with. Maybe it's different with other people. No hard feelings.

Cue automated response for these threads: It's the Guardian from the Ultima series. It's the best avatar. I've only changed it once after putting this one and I don't ever plan to change it.

My usual avatar is the cover art from James O'Barr's graphic novel The Crow which I originally used as my first Halloween avatar, and then stuck with it. It grew on me and I kept it around, and most people seemed to associate it with me over time (even if they didn't know what it was).
There was no real reason for choosing it, I liked the story and find the cover art to be rather... striking. Originally I was going to use a B&W pic of Eric's face close-up, but the cover's a better image.

This grackle-with-a-monocle one I made for this Halloween, but I kinda like it so I think that I'll keep it around for at least a little while longer. Besides, I put too much work into it to just use it for two-three weeks. :P I'm also tempted to change the first line of my sig to match....

Just out of interest does anybody know a good website where I can choose from a wider range of Avatars where you can link directly to them because as far as I am aware that is the only way to do it on these boards...

linking from sites is generally discouraged, even under our own Avatar guide, due to the cost of linking for the other website. Its far better to find the picture you want, then upload it to a site like Photobucket or imageshack that are designed for that sort of thing, and then link from there to here.

Because it's football season -- unfortunately, the season is going south for the Wolverines. Maybe I should make it a Lions avatar.

I did have a Marla Singer one, which I loved, but apparently it was too big and I don't know how to/if I can resize it, so now I've got a silly pepper :( Might change it at some point, but a lot of the ones I've seen don't say how big they are and I might go over the restriction again.

Not only does the quotation ring true in my life, as I'm sure it does in many of yours. But Calvin is a charming kid with quite the view on life that I can appreciate. Also. I love Hobbes, he'll undoubtedly be making another appearance before too long.
