You do realize that 'orsimer' means 'pariah-folk', right? How would they leave that identity behind? The identity they leave behind is their aldmeri one. Their new identity is 'orsimer', or for short, 'orc'. 'Orc' is a just a common diminutive of the old-fashioned 'orsimer'. Both mean the exact same thing.

And now falmer are in?

Wait, what do you have against the falmer. It's not like there's proof that they're extinct. Also they never lost their elfhood so they are properly with the elves.

because it's shorter and simpler to say orc than orsimer. Another example is the use of dwemer vs. dwarves. It's the same race, just called different, depending if one want to call them in their formal or informal name, just like with orsimer (formal) vs. orc (informal).

Of course they'd still have a capital city of Orisinium! They are proud of their heritage, but I don't know many orcs that would refer to themselves as Orsimer.

If you still aren't swayed after this, I give up. Here are some quotes from "A Pocket Guide to the Empire," the actual little book that came with the Oblivion collector's edition:
"If the Myth of Mauloch is to be believed, the Orcs or Orsimer had been pariah of the land for two hundred years, and if it is not true their destitution had been even longer."
"The Orsimer exodus was long and particularly deleterious to the character of its people." (referring to the time after the siege, AKA when they were already "orcs")

And throughout their entire section of Orsinium they refer to the Orcs as both "Orcs" and "Orsimer."

Also, to see which people will find to have the best voices in their given species (like which elf's shout will you like more, or which human's shout will you like more, etc)

Yes but the name Orsimer isn't used often throughout the empire. The other races prefer to refer to them as Orcs. I don't think he was disputing that Orcs were Orsimer, they just aren't called that in most areas.

The Dunmer Morrowind voice was the coolest thing EVER! I reeeaally want that in Skyrim. But no just the voices, the sings they sais and not just Dunmer the Khajiit said reall cool and funny thins when you got near them that always made me laugh. I hope they bring back these things or something like it in Skyrim, that would make me and a lot of other people really happy.

The whole dragon shouts concept sounds really coll, especially after reading todays GI update about them. I'm interested in how the language sounds in game, can't wait.

The orsimer are extinct, only the orcs live now :nono:

As you can clearly see they at some point changed from "Orsimer" to "Orc" Just like if I were turned into a newt I would be a newt and not a human. :grad:

So without that identity they adopted a new identity, the identity as orcs, not orsimer. Though they might refer to their ancestors by that name.
