Your characters future in TES...

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:01 am

First of all I assumed this would be okay in this forum, as it is aimed at Oblivion players, but if it shouldnt be here please move it :)

Yes, this is a question about Skyrim, but it is for all you hardcoe Oblivion players. My question is; what will become of your current character once Skyrim is released? Will you find a way for your Oblivion character to be in this game?

Myself, I am deciding one of two options, either my Skyrim char is a descendant of Lissa, or my character IS Lissa *the reason for this I cant reveal as it may ruin her story*

Anyway, what about you?

Tough one really, especially as I don′t even know if I′m gonna play Skyrim. I′m looking your way again, Deus Ex :hubbahubba:

But I think Lothran will stay in Cyrodiil, too much for him there to pass it all up. Perhaps my character Karl from Morrowind will make an appearance

I usually make a bunch of characters per game and have them all do different things, so they're all simultaneously canonical in my mind. My main character, Nona Sintalius, is already dead. She was killed by another one of my characters, Matilda Iltura, a vampire who has been around since the Second Era, who trapped Nona's soul in a soul gem. My plan is to eventually have that soul get extracted from the soul gem, either to resurrect Nona in some way, or to incorporate her soul into a weapon or piece of armor to make it incredibly powerful.

Matilda is my only character I plan to take to Skyrim, but she certainly won't be my main character, as she never is. All the rest of my Oblivion characters will be dead, probably with no descendants, with the exception of my Shivering Isles character, who will be, of course,
Spoiler
Sheogorath.

All my chars will be dead by Skyrim's time. I'll start new ones from scratch.

I do not know if I will even bother with Skyrim. If I do, I will not try to port any of my characters over from Oblivion. I would rather start fresh.

Hmmm, Never actually though about it like that... I just had him disappearing after the MQ happened (of course I played him for a little long while afterwards, but nothing big). I will have to think about that!

skyrim is 200 years after oblivion, so all my guys will be dead, but i will probably have a descendant of my main guy Mennokki (imperial fighter) in there.

I might start up a character as a descendant of one of my OB characters (one of my OB characters was a descendant of my Morrowind character), but since the class/level/skill system is going to be so different... they might share name, appearance and birthsign, but I'll be there right with everyone else on 11/11 discovering the ins and out of the new skill mechanics.

Before that, though, I'll be away with Mirocu playing Deus Ex. :toughninja: :ninja:

The 200 year time gap would be very difficult for my pre-existing characters to get past.

More likely than not, I will be starting afresh.

As my Altmer(Not my main), was young during the Crisis, he could show up in Skyrim, already an old and powerfull 250 year old wizard.

My main character, Scythe, was a pirate, so I doubt he would had any descendants, but his legacy could live on.

I won't really think about TES 5 until it has been out for at least a couple years. Then maybe I'll evaluate it and ponder such things.

I actually have a name and a backstory for my first Skyrim character, and she will be a Nord Mage named Brunjild Hanin. My current characters will only be able to play a roll in Skyrim as an observer, and a possible questgiver.
Brunjild will be a distant relative of one of my older characters from Morrowind. I tried to play my Morrowind characters' Class and Birthsign, but Oblivion Spellswords were not as versatile as the MW version.

I hadn't actually considered it.

I have a lot of characters - about a dozen I've played enough to at least establish a good part of their stories and another dozen or so who are languishing, mostly waiting for inspiration. I can't think of any who'd even still be alive by the time of the events of Skyrim, other than one vampire and one substitute god.

Presuming I play Skyrim, I'll undoubtedly create a new character (and if it's any good, more than one). I haven't connected any of my Oblivion characters to any of my Morrowind characters, but it's possible that I might at some point, if it seems appropriate. I guess the same would go for Skyrim characters, though with the time elapsed, it'd be that much less likely.

I have actually already thought this through so call me sad if you want. I've actually just started to get Sabarel seeing someone else, a younger Mage in the Guild. My plan is to have them move to Skyrim to help the Nords with understanding and learning Magic, so I will RP a Great Grandchild or Grandchild trying to live up to her Grandmothers fame.

Until then though I have Diablo, Diablo 2 to replay to get ready for Diablo 3, and hopefully if its released on time I should have 3 months until Skyrim.

I've not thought about it in a great deal of depth. However, I'm sure that members of the Aurelie family, and members of the Hlerayn family will make an appearance in Skyrim.

My old Morrowind character could realistically appear in Skyrim, as she was young in Morrowind, and is a very powerful Telvanni mage.

Helena Aurelie, I doubt. Maybe some mental gymnastics will get involved to re-incarnate her, but in all liklihood it'll be a descendent of hers in Skyrim. I've already got plans for her to have a family, so it's certainly feasable.

Gotta love being nerdy enough to have a family tree for your characters.

I actually do. I've played Mages all the way though every ES game that I have and to a degree all of my characters are related to each other in one way or another. I'll try and find it on my Laptop and upload if you want.

They haven't always been Breton though. Sabarel's Grandmother is a Bosmer and her partners father is a Dunmer so its going to be entertaining.

*high-5* For our supreme awesomeness.

Go for it! It sounds quite interesting. I'll knock one up on the pc, if you're at all interested (mine is done by hand).

As for the race thing, you're not alone. Aralin Hlerayn, my Morrowind main char was born to a Breton father and a Dunmer mother.
Hell, Helena is rather taken with a young Dunmer of the Hlerayn family. Except she hasn't seen him for months, and she's scared of what's happened to him.

For people with access to mods, there's no need. Think about it, you can achieve Skyrim(ish) graphics with Morrowind, fix the levelling issues in Oblivion, and add in anything you can think of. I could happily play Morrowind and no other TES games. That being said, they're my favourite series of games.

There's also the opinion that TES games are going downhill, which could contribute somewhat. (Lets not start a flame war).

For games in general they all point in the same direction; more shallow and more mainstream. I don′t flame TES series or any other game, it′s just the way it is and I think it′s sad.
I′m not saying I won′t be on the look-out for Skyrim but I won′t be the first in line either. C′mon Uncle, lets get augmented :ninja:

My mage, no, my rouge, yes.

My Altmer mage, Gandolf, is soposed to be like in the lord of the rings ( I like to think a spell gone wrong teleported him there) he if very old and will be dead before to long.

My dunmer rouge will deffinately be back, though i wish I cound recreate some of his equepment for skyrim (shadowhunt, dawn/duskfang, sheogorath's staff) :brokencomputer:

I am making a new character, Skadex Do'Urden, Ranger and Champion of Cyrodiil might not translate for a descendant in Skyrim. Yes, I used Do'Urden and made him a black skinned Dunmer lol. For Skyrim, I bet most people will have atleast one character. For me, a Dunmer who is a refugee from Morrowind, an albino Orc named Slaughtermouse, and a Nord barbarian.

Hm... well I find that modded Oblivion still feels like Oblivion at heart. Wouldn't you want to try the whole new levelling system (I don't think there are any mods which change the basic skills and adds a perk system), more handcrafted game world, new quests and such with Skyrim? I mean if you like any TES game enough to spend time on these forums, surely more of it is still good.

And yes, I know many people thought Oblivion was really bad compared to Morrowind, and while I can't really get into Morrowind for some reason, I agree that many features have been done better in it. But from what we've heard, I think Skyrim is fixing a lot of issues in OB, notably level scaling, small settlement number, AI issues, travel system, mundane feel, etc.. I have basically no doubt that it will be at least somewhat better.
